  1. I went back to my personal trainer this morning! He's set up a weekly routine for me, so I should be exercising a whole lot more from now on! Â 60 minutes this morning: cardio + full body workout using weights and my own body weight
  2. Mellyrox - We are getting married the same date!! We're also May 4 2011
  3. chelymo 05/2010-congratulations=) MysTea 11/01/2010 ( Yaayy!) Canadiansandy - 05/04/2011 elizabethrodriguez314 07/04/2011 Jaimele318 - 07/08/2011 Â Â (Lol - I hope I wrote my date right! In Canada we do dd/mm/yyyy, but I think you're all doing mm/dd/yyyy - so that's what I did. May 4 2011)
  4. dro-girl: So sorry I didn't respond sooner! Work's been crazy busy lately and I've barely done anything wedding-related. We haven't been to the resort, in fact we've never been to Punta Cana! We chose our top 5 resorts based on pictures, prices, and reviews (do lots of searches on here, and Trip Advisor, of course take everything on there with a grain of salt). Then we requested wedding packages from the resorts, and got some initial quotes from a TA. Basically it was a combination of everything that made us choose DPB. It helped that our wedding coordinator, Melani, was super quick to respond to my questions. I think it basically comes down to doing a lot of research, seeing how you feel about the places (which one do you keep going back to), and how easy it is to deal with the wedding coordinators. Â Hope that helps! Good luck with the planning!
  5. Hi all! I feel like I've been away from this thread for ages! Work's been insanely busy lately - it's totally getting in the way of wedding planning Lol  We got our group rate from Westjet earlier this week (Becky, our BDW TA totally pulled through for us, she's amazing!!). The rates are fantastic, but they are only good for 30 days and we need to book 10 rooms (yes, that's 20 people) It's causing us (well, me really) a lot of stress because even though we gave our guests tons of notice, and the prices are lower than we expected, most of our guests don't seem inclined to book this early! I'm trying to stay optimistic, FI keeps telling me this will all work out...so fingers crossed!!  I will be at Melrose next Thursday at 6pm! I'm really looking forward to it! I've got a couple BM dress pics, I'm going wedding dress shopping again tomorrow so I'm sure I'll have an update, and I will bring along my reception shoes which I bought a few weeks ago  See you next week!
  6. I love your dress pineapplebride!! Hope you post pictures of you in it! The ruffles are beautiful, I'm a huge fan, they make a dress look so romantic!
  7. Kurlyks - I'm thinking about doing the exact same thing as you! Same dress, same colour. I've been looking everywhere here, and I've only found 1 I like. BM dresses aren't easy to shop for! (I don't want traditional looking BM dresses) anyway I just wanted to mention that our primary colour is teal/turquoise and we'll be using purples, fuchsias and yellows as accents (flowers, etc) I love the combination of all those colours!
  8. Shower in the morning : Needs to be hot (I'm always cold in the mornings!!)
  9. elizabeth - I just looked at my email from DJ Mannia, the $850 includes: Sound system, Professional Dj, Dj booth, Wireless microphone, Lighting, 4 Hour service. So the lighting is included, just maybe not special lighting requests? I haven't heard anything about the resort Dj, but try doing some digging, I'm sure someone out there has used them. We just felt more comfortable going with someone we've heard lots of great things about. vcwedding - I think you can bring your own for pretty much anything and they'll set it up for you. Seems like a lot of people do that to save $. dreamsmay - You know, after hearing your reasons for why you love the time, I'm really starting to really like it! I never thought about it from the perspective of less people on the beach! Thanks! Lol, wow, too funny about all the similarities! Pastor Rick York is apparently the only person in Punta Cana who can perform ceremonies in English, besides the wedding coordinator. We were originally going to go with Melani, but we really want it to feel 'authenticate', for us and our guests. From what I've heard, Pastor Rick York does a ceremony that looks and feels exactly like the real thing. I think it's just personal preference really - but you might want to do a search for him on here - there are tons of good reviews about him! He will send you different scripts ahead of time for you to choose too, which I like. Thanks for the info about the menu, I had a feeling that's what it was but wasn't sure.
  10. caffeine: cannot do without in the morning!
  11. Nicole Kidman : Moulin Rouge
  12. need desperately : summer work clothes
  13. kburger - I heard about DJ Mannia on here actually, I read so many great reviews that we decided they were who we wanted for our reception! I emailed Carlos for a quote, found it reasonable ($850 for 4 hours, which includes all DJ services, lighting, MC services, etc) and decided to book with them! Use the search engine on this forum, you'll find tons of reviews! That's all how we went about booking HDC as our photographer. This site has SO many reviews from past brides, definitely do some searches!
  14. 20 minute run & 20 minute weights/strength Not tons, but it was good to get back into the gym after a 10 day hiatus :S
  15. That's what Melani told me, yes. You don't have to have min. 50 people like the wedding brochure says, she was willing to do a buffet for 35, but you have to do the buffet it the dinner is outdoors. There are tons of pictures on Facebook - you should join the group Dreams Palm Beach Brides! I found tons of pics of the banquet rooms, ceremonies on the beach, etc. Does anyone here know - when you choose a menu (silver, for example) - do your guests get to choose the option they want for each course, or do you as the bride and groom choose one option for each course and guests get no choice? It says 'choose 1' on all the menus, and I'm confused about whether that means we choose 1 for everyone, or guests choose what they want from the options...
  16. dreamsmaybride - I think it's so funny that you're getting married at the same time, exactly a week after us! How do you feel about your time? I originally wanted it earlier, like 4 or 4:30 but I'm warming up to 5:30 We've booked Pastor Rick York to do the ceremony (we are doing a symbolic ceremony, getting legally married in Calgary a few weeks before). We've also booked DJ Mannia for our reception in one of the banquet rooms. I originally wanted to have the reception on the beach too, but then you have to do the buffet, and we prefer a sit down dinner. The thing I love about DPB is that you can change so much when you get down there! Nothing seems to be written in stone, which I love, because it's hard to make these decisions without being there! How many people are you expecting for your wedding? We're hoping for 30-45.
  17. Missy - I love your dress!!! It's gorgeous, and you look amazing in it! (your dress is actually similar in style to my top dress! I haven't bought mine yet, going shopping one more time to make sure it's the one, lol) I also love how the ruffles in the BM dresses mirror your dress. Congrats!
  18. Grease 2: Didi Conn (ya Frenchy!!)
  19. Thanks for all the replies and advice! Were actually working with TA Becky now, and so far she's been great. She's already working on a quote for us! Fingers crossed, were looking forward to getting booked!
