  1. Hope everyone had a good weekend! FI and got "married" on Friday, we've dubbed it our 'practice wedding' because he totally messed up! We were just chit chatting w/ the judge, telling him that we were doing a dw and just wanted this to be as non ceramous as possible, and he just looked at me and asked if I really wanted to marry him, and I said yea, and then he looks at Shawn and says, you want to marry her too? and he says "ya, I do" and then goes "no i dont!, I do, but no!" We wanted to save the whole "I do" part for Mexico so he totally messed up, and it was hilarous! Thank goodness that was our 'practice wedding'! The judge was in histerics! My to do list... =buy luggage =send flip flop luggage tags to those coming =pick up towels from embroiderer, buy a vacume seal bag and put these into so they take up less space, and another bag for all the fabric =finalize jewlery =find hair style (i have really thick and curly hair so this has been a challenge) =pick out a cake online and email pic to wc =keep tanning!!!! =pick up rings from jewler (he's a friend so this shouldn't be a problem) =email photographer list of must have pics =determine photographer budget (still don't know if we'll have the $ to do ttd) Please let me know if I'm missing anything! The only thing I care about is getting married and all the little details, like clothes, seem to pass me by!
  2. I think you need to take a moment and breath! You get married when you want to get married. Don't let other influence your decisions. Remember why you decided on a destination wedding to begin with, to get away! It's only as stressful as you make it out to be. Relax. Pick your date and your place. You've got time.
  3. You should wear whatever makes you feel beautiful! I had my heart set on a short dress from davids bridal but I feel uncomfortable in them w/ my muscular Zena Woman claves.
  4. check out bluenile.com. Average jewelery stores (like jared, kays, etc) are having a really hard time being competitive w/ this vendor. If you still can't find excatly what you're looking for, you can always custom make your ring (it's a lot cheaper than you think it is, especially if you get a good local jewler). I would never buy a ring just b/c it's cheap. You're going to wear it for eternity, it better be exactly what you want. And remember, as you go through life, pregnancy, weight gains/losses, and menopause, your ring size will change with you. Do you really want to be stuck with a ring that you'll never be able to size accordingly?
  5. Someone's always looking for a way to pop another's bubble. You're siggy pic looks beautiful, don't listen to the jelous jerk.
  6. Wow, it does seem that everything gets more expensive each year w/o any fantastic improvements to justify the increase. How's everyone's planning going?
  7. Agreed, people like to give gifts not cash or even gift cards at showers. I had mine 2 weeks ago and was shocked that we got some really nice, and expensive, things that we didn't expect anybody else to buy but our parents. I didn't want to register either, but I didn't want to get a bunch of stuff that we didn't want and couldn't return. If anything I think it's more a gift-giving-guide. Lingerie parties are always fun too. I'm having my lingerie & bachelorette party next weekend. Should be fun!
  8. Stacey - 5'5... could you send pics if you're interested?
  9. Oh I love the idea of brunch w/ mimosas! That souns like something we would do if we were getting married that early! We're having 9 people at our wedding, but it's at 4 p.m. Our package includes a cocktail hour w/ apps for our guests to enjoy while we're taking pics and then we're going to have a private and intimate dinner w/ our family. We'll do one 1st dance, but not dj or dance floor, just our ipods or maybe a friend's guitar.
  10. Ali - We're leaving April 1st, and I know I'm pushing it! Angela - I can't figure out how to PM for some reason (technically impared!) Do you know what the size is if measured around the boobs? I'm very naturally busty and I doesn't look like it's quite big enough in that area... I'm almost a DD.... What do you think?
  11. Thanks ladies Nobody knows except for my employer. I'm afraid we might freak our families out a little to much if we told them, and we don't want it to feel like a "wedding" at all. The judge even agreed to skip the whole "do you, we do, I promounce you" junk so it's basically just paper signing. We're going to dinner afterwards to celebrate his new job, but that's all. I haven't lost the weight that I've wanted either... One of my meds got changed so I've gained water buldge, but I've lost a little of it. I'll keep eating the grapefruit and cheerios (which I'm totally addicted to right now) and see if I loose another 5 pounds before we go!
  12. We're getting married this Friday, legally and in accordance to the state of Texas. We decided not to have a legal ceremony in Mexico due to the cost and how long it takes to get the certificate back and then have it translated and registered with the county court house. We were going to wait until the week before we left, but, FI just got a new job that he starts on Monday! WOOOHOO!!!!! His benefits kick in on day 1, and for me to be on his insurance, we have to be married. So, we went and applied for a marriage license yesterday and we have 72 hours to to the jp and have it be "finalized". US does have the same idea of common law marriage, it just varies by state. In some states if you consider yourself husband and wife, and announce it to people, then you're considered "common law married". In other, like in Texas, you have to have a common law marriage certificate, but in all states, common law marriage is not fully recognized as a "wholistic" marriage. Thus, you may not reep all the same benefits: shared insurance/assets/etc. Sorry - that probably made things more confusing, but I'm an accountant and know a lot of the boring details
  13. I feel the same way about my dress right now too And to make it worse, I had to go shopping w/o my mom b/c she was in the hospital so she just saw it for the first time 2 weeks ago when she flew out to see me. I think it will be okay though.... I got a veil and some shoes while my mom was here so I feel a little better about it. Anyways, I've already spent the money so I'm a little commited at this point. I just try to remember how much I loved it when I bought it, and I'm sure it will come together for the wedding. Tuck it away in a closet for a little while and remind yourself how much you loved it in the beginning!
  14. Hi Ladies, I've been searching this forum for a previously used/not wanted wedding dress. Please let me know if you have a smaller sized dress that you'd like to sell or are considering selling. I'm a size 4 or size 6 max, my body sizes are 34/21/36. Thanks! Jenna

  16. Hi ladies, I bought towels over the weekend to embroider and give to our guests, and it was CHEAPER than what you think it is.... I bought the towels at Kohls for $2.70 a piece (* 11 towels = $32.15 w/ tax) Brought them to get embroidered today for $5.00 a piece ($55.00 w/ tax) Total cost for project = 87.15 The towels I bought are really nice, and I just bought them on sale. The lady I brought them to embroider does work for the company that I'm at and I have a working relationship with her. She did give me a bit of a deal, but I don't think embroidery is as expensive as you think it is, especially if you have someone do it locally. We decided to do the towels because a) we're not having a lot of people and we're not doing OOT bags or anything else, so we thought this would be a nice gesture. However, I don't think this is the way to go if you're having a lot of guests or if you can't find a good deal. If you can find a way to have these done at a reasonable price then I would totally go for it, otherwise I would save the money.
  17. So exciting! All things happen for a reason, and it sound like you'll have a blast on your anniversary... Congratulations!
  18. Wow, that's an awesome rate, thanks for the post. Too bad we're getting married here in April or we would totally take you up on the offer!

I'm thinking that we're the one of the 1st April weddings, ours is 4/3 the day before Easter. I have yet to find another bride that's getting married Easter weekend like us...
  20. Hi ladies, I know their's been a lot of questioning the difference between the fits so I e-mailed them to find out! They are very prompt in their responses; however, I do find that the reponses come in the middle of the night (probably b/c they're in India). Hope this helps! Classic fit, Pants which are comfortable on the thighs and taper a bit towards the bottom. Straight Fit, The legs go straight down and the leg bottom is the same as your knee measurement. Baggy These are loose on the thighs and knees and then taper a bit towards the bottom, Semi Baggy is between "Classic comfort fit" and "Baggy"
  21. So cute! Looked it up on etsy and they take 8-10 weeks to come in and she's closing down in March to catch up a bit... to bad or I would order one for our wedding
