  1. Thanks so much ladies! My TA had me so worried, but I thought surely the whole country can't go dry!
  2. Talk to the wc at the resort or place that you will be getting married. If you're looking to have a sunset wedding then the general rule that I've been hearing is 2 hours before sunset. This should allow for enough time to say your vows and then the lighting should be just right for pics afterwards. Morning weddings are always good because the beach is less crowded so their's less of a chance that you'll get unwanted stragglers in your wedding pics. I would stay away from the afternoon/high sun just b/c it's hot and their's to many people on the beach. Definitly talk to your photographer, they'll be able to give you the best recommendations possible. Good luck!
  3. Hi ladies, I'm wondering if anybody knows if you can drink in the RM during Easter? We unintentionally booked our wedding the day before Easter (honestly, we didn't know it was Easter weekend) at the Valentin Imperial Maya and then our TA tells us that most places in Mexico don't allow drinking Easter week because they're strongly Catholic. Not that we're alcoholics or anything, but it sure would be nice to have a drink while on vacation! Is anybody else getting married Easter weekend, or been to Mexico during Easter? Any recommendations? --sorry if this has already been covered, I did a search and couldn't find anything.
  4. Not surprising my FI asked the same question! It's so cute that they're worried about all the really important stuff though.... Our resort, VIM, serves cans, and we are bringing koozies.
  5. Hi Sarah, I would really love it if you could please send me some pics for your wedding. We're getting married at the Valentin on 4/3/10 and I'm having such a hard time trying to get any good informatin. If you could e-mail the pics that would be great, my email is [email protected]. Thanks! Jenna
  6. You can have a symbolic cermony any day of the week, but not all resorts will do a civil ceromony on weekends. One resort that we were considering wouldn't do a civil ceromony on a weekend, and we found other resorts that were willing to do it.
  7. My FI is taking all his guys deep-sea fishing the day before we get married (this is what he wanted to do instead of having a typical bachelor party) and all the ladies and I are going to Xcaret. We're also considering doing a day trip to Tulum or snorking for a day. Make it fun and creative and everyone is guaranteed to have a good time!

We're getting married at the Valentin Imperial Maya, and I know that their has been Catholic weddings there before. If this isn't an option for you than I would look into some of the local Catholic churches. If you go to theknot.com they have a lot of information that will help you find a Catholic church in RM. Hope that helps!
  9. I would def make sure that the price quoted was correct, and then take into consieration the flowers that you're using and the availabilit/seasonality of them. Perhaps look into using other flowers that are the same color that you're looking for. This may be a cost effective way of stilling obtaining the same look that you're wanting. Good Luck!
  10. Hi! We're going to the Valentin Imperial Maya, and we're dieing to see what the beach looks like. Could you please post pics of the beach and the ruins if you go to Tulum? Thank you!
  11. Congrats and happy planning! I'm sure it will be wonderfully beautiful!
  12. Haven't gotten married yet, but I assume it will be pretty bad on the bottom because of the beach. My soon to be mil put her old dress in the washing machine and it cme out beauiful! I would try that!
  13. Hi ladies! We decided to have an adults only dw, and we booked at an adults only resort, but how do you tell family and friends that have little ones that it's adults only. Despite what many may think we're not children haters! We love kids! Their are just so many children between both of our families and friends, that it would be insane! The worst part is that no matter how many times we've politely told his brother and wife that we're having an adults only wedding, they still don't get it. She's even accused me of not loving her children! So.... Who else is doing an adults only wedding, and how the heck did you tell your (potentailly crazy) family members and friends! I NEED HELP!
  14. Hi! A destination wedding isn't for everyone, but if it's something that you decide to do than it will be great! Have fun looking at all the places to go, and use this forum as much as possible, it really has a lot of great information on it!
  15. Congrats! Welcome to the forum!
  16. Is anybody getting married at the Valentin Imperial Maya? We just booked our wedding date for April 3, 2010 and would like to know other person's experience(s) w/ the resort and the wedding staff. The pictures on-line look beautiful, but I've read some sketchy reviews of the wedding staff. So... Is anybody else out there getting married here?!?! --Jenna
  17. Hi Jayla, We just reserve our date for April 4th at the Valentin Imprial Maya. I was a little nervous too about sending over my information w/o a contract or a lot of details, but it seems to be the norm. She's been very helpful and re-assured me that she would send a receipt after the payment was processed. Let me know how it goes!
  18. Hi! I have never used one of these forums before and I have no clue how to work this site, but I'm really hoping to get some good information out it! We're getting married April 4, 2010 at the Valentin Imperial Maya in Mexico. We just booked our wedding date today and we're so excited I can't even tell you! Anybody else getting married at this resort? -- Jenna McGann (soon-to-be Mrs. Hoyt )
