  1. You could also do an evite or ecard (we used pingg.com for our official invitation) - it's fast and easy and with some (such as the site we used) you can use your own design. And it's free! We also did a website, but I found that so many people never read it!
  2. Congrats Nikki and welcome to the forum! We decided to get legally married at home and do a symbolic ceremony in Mexico. It was easier and faster! And less to worry about
  3. Welcome to the forum Ann! You'll find loads of info on here to help you plan. Can't wait to hear about the proposal when it happens!
  4. You will be hot regardless of what you wear! It is hot down South... I wore a Pronovias dress and I was fine during the ceremony / evening. The only time that I was hot was during dinner, but everyone was hot during dinner, including all of the ladies in summer dresses (bad ventilation where we were). We had our ceremony 1h before sunset, so it wasn't too hot by then. That could be a great alternative (a later wedding) because if you can afford that dress, you should get it. It's amazing!!! (I've also been in love with it since seeing it on TV!)
  5. I'm 2 year and 2 months older than DH. I used to say that he wasn't of a respectable age, but now that he's 28 I really don't mind anymore. It seemed to matter a lot more when we first met! He's bald so he looks older, and I have the good genes

Congrats Jamielyn and welcome! I've been to Panama & DR and it really is a question of what you prefer... the AI resorts in Panama are on the side of the ocean where the water isn't that blue and the sand isn't that white, so if you're after that Caribbean blue, DR is for you. Panama is more exotic and unusual though, so you can't go wrong with either one. Depending where people are flying in from, DR may be easier though. Good luck!
  7. We picked a Sunday, as that was what worked with the resort! I think that if you're on "vacation", no one really pays attention to what day of the week it is. Still, I think that a lot of brides are set on Saturday and that's probably busier just for that. I know that at my resort, weekdays were cheaper than weekends just because people prefer to travel on weekends as they need fewer vacation days this way.
  8. Hi Cindy, congrats and welcome to the forum! Hopefully you find the answer to your question on here! There's tons of info, so I'm sure you will!
  9. Our TTD pictures are up!!! I'm so excited! Magalie + Travis | Puerto Vallarta Day After Session | Amber Hughes Photography
  10. Hello ladies! Our photographer blogged our TTD pictures, you can check them out here! Magalie + Travis | Puerto Vallarta Day After Session | Amber Hughes Photography
  11. Howdy! Our TTD / Day After photos were blogged today! I just love them, they are amazing! It was so much fun to walk around town and get pictures taken! We did get some odd look but mostly people were lovely - we even had 1 guy run after us to suggest locations to shoot! The beach pictures were taken at Concha Chinas, just down the road from our hotel. It was lovely and quiet, with loads of texture. By the time we got to the beach though, I was tired, hungry and hot (we had been shooting for like 3h by then!) and so I was pretty much done, but you can't tell at all in the pictures! Amazing. Now I want to go back and do it all over again! You can see the photos here Magalie + Travis | Puerto Vallarta Day After Session. To find out more about my photographers, Amber Hughes and her 2nd shooter Michael Wachniak - check out the post / review I wrote about our wedding photos! It's also in my signature.
  12. Wow, great and super long review! Glad that it all went so well. I like that we were minister twins! Can't wait to see more pro photos, I just know that they will be awesome!
  13. Diane, great photos! You two looked so happy!

It also depends on when you want to do it, and for how many people - this really affects the cost. Our wedding ended up costing us a lot more than that, but it didn't help that we had to pay for some of the rooms. I would say that it could be done, but you would have the basic package for many things or skip certain things (if your budget is for the entire cost of the wedding, including flights, dress, room cost, etc).
  15. Check on exit.ca, they often have great prices. I had bought a package deal to Panama, so I don't really know how much the flight was...
  16. Wow, your pro photos are amazing! You must be so happy about them. Love the decor, you had great details! And we are colour twins! Congrats on the big day, glad that it went so well! Like you said, just remember how great it was and not the little details that were not perfect!
  17. I think that it's hard to give $ saving tips, because since this isn't an at-home wedding, your DIY options are limited, and so is your power at vendor-shopping. With this said, the #1 thing that I could have done to limit our budget and prevent from going way over would have been to go with a resort where everyone could book individually instead of having a room block with a minimum # of room paid in the contract. In the end we had to pay in full / in part to help friends fill our rooms (otherwise we still had to pay for the empty rooms). That was an extra 10K that we had not anticipated! Our original budget for everything was 20K. In the end, we were at around 40K. It was a lot more than what we wanted to pay, but at least I got the wedding of my dreams and we're extremely happy with how things turned out.

You'll love working with Michael, he's so much fun and he has a great eye!
  19. Wow, you did an amazing job! I love the prints of the two of you by your bed. By the way, your house looks fabulous!
  20. Great photos! We will be making our album ourselves through Blurb.com. It comes out looking like a real book and the prices are reasonable. From past experience, the quality is really good.
