  1. Thanks everyone for your wonderful comments and advice! It was extremely helpful. Yesterday I went to a makeup lesson at Sephora. The consultation was "free" but they ask you to purchase $50 in makeup (which wasn't a problem.. I spent $250.. once in a lifetime thing, I guess.. :-)). The woman had some really good tips about different makeup. I brought in a picture of a celebrity with similar makeup to what I want, and she did my makeup similarly to that and told me everything she was doing/using in the process. Hopefully I can replicate at least some of it.. Thanks again everyone!!!
  2. I apologize if this has already been asked! In general, I'm very low maintenance when it comes to hair and makeup. I'm not really sure how to do makeup very well (my mom was sick & passed away when I was a teenager so I didn't get much help in these departments). I usually don't mess with it much besides very basic hair/makeup items. I'm getting married in Puerto Vallarta at RIU Palace Pacifico in October. I know they say I have makeup & hair included in the package but who do they have doing it? Is it people who will make me look tacky or weird? Has anyone had experience with, or seen pictures from, weddings at a resort where they provide hair & makeup service? I wish I could bring along my own stylist, but our budget wouldn't allow me to spend that kind of money on hair and makeup. I'll have some girl friends there who are better than me at "beautification," but only slightly. (My most stylish, beauty-oriented friend had too much makeup on at her wedding and her face looked lighter than the rest of her body!). Do I need to look into which individual at the resort to have do my hair/makeup? Do they offer options or is there just one person at the resort who does it? Should I look into people in the area rather than the hotel people? It's just really important to me to look good on this day but I feel like I'm going into this blind! Anyone else deal with these questions? Or know all the answers?
  3. Hello! I'm looking for suggestions about where to look, as well as what types of dresses work best with my body type. I don't really know much about dresses or even really dress up that much (even though I love to). I usually wear a size 4 dress, and wear a 32DD bra size. Most smaller-sized dresses I've come across seem to be designed for smaller or regular-size-chested women, and the bigger-sized dresses will swallow me whole! Do most people shop online? If so, where can I look? Will I need to have it altered? None of my friends have this problem so I haven't been able to get any suggestions. And I'm worried that if I go into a store they'll be so inexperienced with my body type (like what happens at Victoria's Secret, etc.) that I'll end up with something totally unflattering. Any ideas? Thank you!
  4. 1. Name - Ann 2. Wedding date - TBD (soon); We're talking about early-to-mid fall. 3. Wedding location - Mexico (part of signing up here is looking for the perfect spot!) My guy and I are about to be engaged (the official engagement is probably immanent but I'm not privy to all the details of that). We are already daydreaming/tentatively planning a wedding in Mexico (we have looked at a bunch of places and so many of them look amazing, it will be tough to decide). We'll probably have 30-35 guests. We have soooo many questions about planning a destination wedding so I'll probably be on here a lot.
