Just talk to your wedding coordinator at the resort about it beforehand. Plus this way you can make your ceremony even more personal if you like. I know a lot of people do symbolic ceremonies so I figure the resorts must be pretty used to it and will do a convincing job.

We're staying another week at our resort, too. I agree with you girls, I think the first week with the family there will be fun but it won't feel like a honeymoon. I'm glad we'll have some time together after everyone leaves. We're taking a trip back home around the wedding, too, which I'm really looking forward to. We'll have some time in Nova Scotia before the wedding and we'll spend some of that in FI's hometown and some in Halifax. Then we'll have almost a week after we get back from Cuba in PEI with my family. All in all we'll have a really long vacation- we've both saved up some vacation time plus we both get extra "special days" because we're getting married. It'll be hard to go back to work after a long break like that.

Tracy- very sultry pics! He's going to love them- you look great. I second the black lingerie being all kinds of awesome. I really love the way your hair and makeup turned out, too. You look amazing girl! shortnsweet- I love your dogs, they're so cute. Your black dog reminds me a bit of my Nara (the small female) although they're different breeds. I love Lab mixes, we had one growing up and he was the nicest, smartest dog. Erin- I'm so sorry that this situation with FI's daughter and her Mother has been such an ongoing thing. The woman sounds like she's got a screw or two loose. I don't understand why she'd be so petty, sounds like she needs to take a deep breath, get over herself and start putting her daughter first. I feel sorry for the little girl because it can't be easy for her. Hang in there!

going baby crazy and not even pregnant or close to being
Melidell replied to purpleshells's topic in Just venting or funnies
We have big babies in our families, too. The birth thing doesn't bother me too much- it's just (hopefully) one day and I'm really very healthy so I think I have a good chance of not having complications- plus my Mom had super easy child births. It's the bloody pregnancy that I don't look forward to. Nine months of not feeling like myself, being tired, gaining weight, swelling, maybe stretch marks, ugh. This is going to sound really vain so I apologize in advance, but I've always been pretty thin and don't like the thought of that changing. Plus people are always touching your stomach when you're pregnant and I'm a big believer in personal space. I'm not looking forward to the attention at all. Does anyone else feel like this or am I a just a cranky weirdo? -
Thanks for the email addy, sjmacphe. Amanda- you've got a pm!

Honestly, I just kept googling until I found one that was half way decent. The quality isn't the greatest still, and I had to crop it and then retype all of the locations in a new text box to fix it up a bit but it'll do. Just don't blow it up to large once you find one. Also try the trip adviser forums and any facebook groups for your resort/ general area. Keep trying- you'll stumble on one eventually.

Erin, I'm so sorry they weren't able to resolve this! I hope her mother comes around before the last minute- I can't understand why she would object to this. I agree with the magistrate- she's setting herself up for some resentment with this behavior, plus she's being really selfish. I love your centerpieces, though. They look really pretty- I really like the vases. Tracy- I'm so glad to hear it went well! I bet you can't wait to see the pics now! I knew you'd do great!

My MOH and groomsmen are heading for divorce...
Melidell replied to sjmacphe's topic in Just venting or funnies
I'd let them decide what to do about coming, but if one (or both) of them brings up not being able to make it let them know about possibly getting someone to take their spots. Unfortunately you can't uninvite people but they probably won't both be able to make it if they're in the middle of a divorce. I'd actually put money on her getting left at home with the kids while he gets to go enjoy himself- he sounds like a real jerk. I don't think there is any way to tell her to move on. She has to decide to do that for herself and until she does no one else will be able to make her see that she's better off without him. Honestly, you should do your best to stay out of it. If they get back together (unlikely but you never know) they could both wind up mad at you. Just be there for her as a good friend. While he may be a real jerk, if he truly doesn't love her anymore he should leave and not keep stringing her along and wasting her life. I feel bad for their kids, though, but even if things don't work out he'll still be their father. ETA- and to answer your question, hell no! I'd never stay with an ass like that, kids or no kids. Marriage has it's ups and downs, but emotional affairs and emotional abuse? His arse would be out the door so fast he wouldn't know what happened. -
Welcome to the forum! I'm sure you'll find something that works for you. My only suggestion is to make sure that your guests will be able to depart from different airports or get cheap connections to one airport with any package that you go with. Good luck and enjoy your planning!

I have heard you can bring CDs that they will play for you at dinner, I like the idea of an ipod though...let us know how it works for you Meli! Maybe the DJ will play my CDs PS - someone on the facebook group sent an email for Marie Elena (the WC), I haven't heard a response yet, let me know if you guys want it. We've just bought an ipod dock to bring, so I hope they'll be able to plug it in (with a converter, of course). We'll bring some CD's as a backup, too. Yeah, if you don't mind PM that email address. I may try to get in touch with her closer to the time and see about making spa reservations and if we'll have the poolside restaurant for dinner for sure. Melissa just brushed me off when I asked if we could find out sooner, but I'm sure that I've heard of other girls being told where their dinner would be ahead of time.

Oh- Shortnsweet- you just described one of my worst nightmares! I don't worry too much about our big guy because even though he's super gentle he's so big that a lot of dogs are afraid of him but our smaller (65 pound) girl was attacked once when FI was walking her. FI had to kick the other dog to get it away from her- he felt really badly but what can you do? Before we bought our house we rented a house without a fenced in yard and I was always a bit nervous about other dogs, or even kids picking on her. The dogs never got to go outside for long until we got them a fenced yard, poor things. I'm so glad your dog is okay. My dogs and cat are like my children too, so I understand what you mean. My Saint Bernard got pneumonia when he was a puppy and had a close call and I was an absolute wreck while he was at the vet. I totally understand where you're coming from- they're so dependent on us and they trust us so much that it makes you feel so protective of them.
