  2. I agree that picking the resort and setting the date was the most stressful part of the process. It does get better- other planning stuff can be really fun. Last summer I felt the same way, but now I'm just really looking forward to going. Just remember that you've still got lots of time- you've started nice and early so you won't be rushed. I find, too, that taking breaks from "wedding stuff" can be really helpful so be sure that you give yourself plenty of wedding free time. Good luck- trust me, you'll do fine!
  3. I'm so sorry to hear about your family and your poor cat! I hope that everything works out for you and your FI. Remember to keep taking care of yourself- all of this stress and sadness can be so hard on a person. Try to be sure that you're eating and sleeping right, if you can. I don't know why things seem to happen at once like this but remember that you'll get through it. All the best to you and your loved ones.
  4. Sounds like he's like me for sure, Tracy- I wore SPF 40 (or maybe it was higher) when I was in Punta Cana last year and I still tanned a bit over the week. I've heard that sunscreen isn't really that much stronger once you get over SPF 30, though, I wonder if that's true? I'll definitely be piling on the sunscreen down there, though- the sun is just not the same at all and I hate being sunburned. Oh, and the game was great tonight- amazing third period! Canada versus USA on Sunday for the gold- I can't wait. It's going to be a good game, both teams are awesome.

I did once and I got so badly burned I wasn't able to fully enjoy my vacation, as I couldn't sleep (ever) for 3 weeks. ohhh enjoy yourself, gooo canada goo!!! I will be finishing up all my wedding stuff, as I gave myself a limit.. it all had to be done a month before we leave, so I officially have 11 days (including today) to finish up. I will definitely make it a quiet weekend, as next Saturday is my bachelorette party. Lol- I know, I keep thinking that just a few times isn't going to make a big difference in the grand scheme of things... you're twisting my rubber arm! I've gave myself a deadline for wedding stuff, too. I think that's a good way to do it- that way you're not stressed trying to finish up all of the little details at the last minute. I figure I want to relax and focus on the trip for a few weeks before we leave.

    Hello!

Welcome to the forum, Christina. If you're looking for information on locations you've come to the right place- there are tons of wedding reviews here from everywhere. I've enjoyed planning for our wedding and I (obviously) agree that a DW is the way to go! I hope you have a great time planning and I'm sure we'll be seeing more of you.

    Hello!

Congrats on your engagement. I know what you mean, there's so many beautiful places to get married that it can be a bit overwhelming when you have to pick just one! I hope your planning goes well, and welcome to the forum.
  9. Welcome the the forum, Stephanie, and congrats on your engagement. It sounds like you've got some solid plans made already- good for you! I'm sure the boards will be a big help to you while you're planning, I know they've been a lifesaver for me. Good luck with everything.
  10. Hi Porche- welcome to the forum! Less than two months- you must be getting really excited now. Vegas sounds like so much fun, I bet you'll have a blast. Enjoy the rest of your planning and don't be a stranger.
  11. We wouldn't mind. We plan to start trying right away but I expect it'll take longer than that. I do think that a lot of you girls who are waiting for a bit after the wedding have the right idea though- it'll be nice to have time together as a married couple. We've just been living together for so long that I doubt we need to have any more "just us" time and we had to push back the wedding a few times... so we don't want to wait any longer to have kids (I'm not getting any younger, either).
  12. I've been thinking a lot about tanning lately. One the one hand I want to hit a tanning bed a bit before I go (I've never done this, I'm usually very strict about sun and sunscreen) just so I won't be so glow in the dark for the wedding and so I'll have less chance of burning. The last time we went away we had to be really careful the first few days in the sun, even with really good sunscreen. On the other hand I know tanning isn't great for you (especially if you're as fair as I am). Aaarggghh. I'm torn. I can't believe I just wrote a whole post about tanning. I'm heading to the pub tonight to drink some beers and watch the hockey game with my MOH (Gooooo Canada! Whooohooo!)- the Olympics hasn't been doing my diet any favours! Glad it's almost over. Anyone else have any weekend plans?

  14. Thanks for posting this- I've been working on cigar labels, too! Yours look really, really nice. If you don't mind my asking, how large are they? I've got some that I'm working on right now and I've used the smallest label size but I'm worried that they may not be big enough. Also, did you cut around the curve of your monogram or were the labels that you used already shaped for you (can't quite tell from the pic)? Sorry for all of the questions- I just haven't seen anyone else do this yet!
  15. I used a printer for my travel brochure envelopes, too. Just feed a trial envelope through once or twice to see if it goes through okay and that the type is where you want it to be. I also second the poster who said use Word and use the letters and mailings function- just make sure that you specify the size of your envelopes and it works really well. Good luck!

But I've worked in the pharmaceutical industry for a while now so that kind of thing just makes me nervous. I will definitely be going bare legged in the dress with black strappy sandals. I'm not sure what the chick in the picture was thinking with black tights but I don't like it like that. Hmmmm... and if you feel like that about the Tylenol, Michelle, and Tracy's FI feels weird about Tylenol that's been opened then chance are there'll be a guest who does, too. Maybe making your own packs isn't the best idea, Tracy ... oh, and I love your dress, too! Especially without the tights! I didn't want to say anything in case you really liked the tights with it but, yeah, I don't know what she was thinking either. Black sandals will look so nice with it.
  17. Welcome to the new girls! Tracy- I don't think that Tylenol not being sterile will matter. As long as your hands are clean when you handle it it'll be fine. It's not a perishable item and the jars that you get it in aren't sealed once they've been opened, after all. I wouldn't want to get one from a store that wasn't properly sealed but if it was from a friend or family member (like in your case) I wouldn't give it another thought. I tend to go close to my weight limit when I pack, too. It's shoes that do it for me, every time! At least the clothes we wear down south aren't too heavy though- sundresses, t-shirts and tanks, bathing suits, shorts. The extra wedding things are going to be a struggle, though- especially the mugs. I'll have to see what I can pawn off on other people!

My FI doesn't snore, nor do I (probably because I don't really sleep, lol) but what my FI does do is talks, and I'm not talking like mumbles and jibberish - Full Conversations!!! "constant variables, and don't contaminate the scene, and I got an A, not a B+ I got a (insert swear word of choice here)...A, oh yeah" I have had a full coherent conversation thinking he was totally awake, but nope - knocked out cold!!!!!!! My FI's father talks intelligently in his sleep, FI talks intelligently in his sleep and this weirdo gene has now been passed on to our son!! Although not intelligent conversations yet (he can't talk, lol) he goes on and on, and smiles and laughs and speaks his crazy baby jargon just like he's wide awake...it's all enough to put me in the loony bin! Did I mention how much I'm looking forward to the night before the wedding when I'm totally alone!?!? lol in a king size bed..................ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I prob won't sleep a wink because it will all be too alien! lol Oh man, I totally talk in my sleep like that! I mumble a bit, but I talk clearly a lot also and apparently you can have a conversation with me when I'm out cold. My Dad does it, too. Nice to know I'll probably have sleep talking kids! I've also done some sleepwalking in the past but not since I was a kid- I get that from my Mom.

Ah... that's good to know. Sounds like maybe whatever it is it isn't specific to just one resort- that's actually pretty comforting.

I noticed that bad batch of reviews, too. I heard that there was a bad stomach flu that was going all around that part of Cuba at that time. I hope that that was it and not food poisoning. Has anyone gotten that traveller's diarrhea vaccine? I've got my hep vaccines but I'm strongly considering that one, too.

I had my mugs go through a friend and because of the weight of them (~18lbs/box of 25mugs) it ended up costing me more in the end. I guess that's my punishment for trying to skip out on brokerage fees!! I assume that since d.mugs ships SO much out they get a really good shipping rate. Oh, man, that sucks! I would have thought that your way would be cheaper, too. I did notice when I ordered my mugs that the shipping from discount mugs was pretty cheap- it was much cheaper than 4imprint even though the mugs were coming from the states. I just got an email that my mugs were shipped! They took a little while in production because I asked for a proof, and then I had to pick a different font colour because the fuchsia I'd picked didn't show up well against black mugs. I can't wait to see what they look like!
  22. We went to Punta Cana last February and the weather was gorgeous. It was really hot but not too humid, it didn't rain once and except for a few windy days everything was perfect. I also have a co-worker who took a trip to Panama a few years ago and she's still talking about it- she swears it was the best trip she's ever done. Hope this helps!
