Uggh... I feel you about the dress and dress shops. Sometimes I think they do that deliberately to make sure that you have to pay to have it altered. When I ordered my dress they tried to talk me into getting it a size larger "just in case" but I've been the same weight give or take 5 lbs for ten years now. Plus when I'm stressed I lose, not gain, so I didn't think I'd need a larger size. Once they found out I'd be going somewhere else for alterations (because I didn't live in the area) they backed right off and just took my measurements and sure enough my dress came in the right size- it fits almost perfectly now without any adjustments.

I know what you mean about it feeling like Christmas- I love getting all of these things in the mail! I'm still waiting for a few more things so we've been checking the mail every day. I've loved the shopping part of planning- it's been so fun.

I feel your pain, Alex! I've had a few guests who never did bother to RSVP even though the envelope had our address and a friggin' stamp on it! GRRRR. I did something similar what you're doing- just wrote them off and assumed they weren't coming and went ahead with my plans. I ordered a few extra favours just in case but basically if I didn't have your name a few weeks after my deadline it's not my fault! My TA lets me know if anyone has booked so I doubt I'll have any surprises at this point anyway. Your FI is right- there comes a point when you just have to let go and continue with your planning. Funny how some people think the world waits on them, though!

Dislike. Grapefruit?

No- I'm not scared of heights but I hate the feeling of falling, you know? Would you ever go para-sailing?

You name it I think I've used this site to put off doing it: work, housework, working out, calling my mother, walking the dogs.... you get the idea.

I think all of Canada does have the same type of common-law regulations: I know FI and I won't have any real difference benefits wise or legally after we get married. We're each others next of kin and beneficiary now, and we each have the other on our insurance. Maybe it's different in the US? Natasha- I love your OOT bags! Wow, your guests are going to love you when they get them. I also really like the sand and shell favours, too. We're looking at the 23d of April for a legal day right now. We'll have to apply for a marriage license as soon as we get to Nova Scotia and then we'll be good to go after a week. We're still deciding on the details but I think you can go to the courthouse and get it done so we'll probably just do that. We're telling no-one, though. Erin- your bachelorette sounds like so much fun! You know, I've never actually been to a dueling piano bar but it sounds really cool. I hope you have a great time this weekend and trust me, I'd be there if I could but I'm a bit too far away. Tracy- that is so cool that your party is this weekend, too! I'll be sending good vibes to both of you and I'll have a glass of wine in each your honour that night!

I got place cards from a calligrapher on Etsy- they have lots of calligraphers there. It was a lot cheaper than I would have thought it would be. Just another option if you decide not to do it yourself. Here's a link to the one I used, she was great and they came out beautifully: Dancing Pen Calligraphy by DancingPen on Etsy

Feel free to laugh at my morning- I'm the office joke today but I don't mind, it's pretty funny really. I agree about the list- we'll be pretty lonely here when you girls start to leave for you weddings at the beginning of April. This way we can send some good vibes your way! Morning, ladies! I've got a bit of a story this morning. This morning I was running late so I grabbed two pieces of bread to make toast at work for breakfast. I was toasting my bread (really yummy homemade whole wheat flax bread, too) and the phone rang. It was my boss and while we're chatting my toast burned. I was super bummed, but I trim off some of the burnt bits and start to eat it anyway. Then, no word of a lie, the fire chief and another firefighter show up. Apparently I'd tripped the smoke alarm, but because it's in another part of the building and the cleaner was vacuuming we didn't hear it (it's not loud, more of a beeping). I think it's going to be that kind of day. From now on I'm sticking to grapefruit.

Awwww... I'm sorry about your girls letting you down, too, Tracy. It seems like there's a lot of that going around and it's kind of sad. I hope they start to step up now that it's getting closer to the time. Quote: Originally Posted by caribbeanLover Some one was asking who was getting marred first? I second that. I used to work for a bank and that was one thing I learned- credit cards give you that extra protection that you just don't get from your bank account (in Canada, anyway, not sure about the States but it's probably the same idea). I've been trying to pay for everything with Visa as I go, just in case. Plus that way you have your Visa statement as a backup if you ever lose a receipt. I'm so sorry for anyone who's been affected by this. I hope that everything works out for anyone who had their wedding arranged through these guys. This is pretty scary!

I'm doing as little talking and standing in front of everyone as humanly possible!!!" hahaha. He's not one for being the focus of attention but then again neither am I! That's too funny- my FI said the same thing! He'd just nod at the right parts if I'd let him. He has been making this running joke about personalized vows though- he'll say some thing like "I take you, to be my legal property, to obey me and clean my house (like a good woman should)...." (I'm a bit of a feminist so he thinks this is just hilarious). Or he'll pretend he's up there and start stuttering and stammering and go "ummm... yeah... thicker and thinner... and all the stuff she said... yeah..."

Oh, Meghan, I'm sorry that your friends have been letting you down! I can see the girl who got engaged after you being a bit preoccupied with her own stuff, but they should at least help your sister out with something as easy as picking a date for the bachelorette and letting people know! I think things are going to seem a bit more stressful this month anyway, to be honest. It's March now, so things are coming down to the crunch for sure. Rant away, that's what we're here for! I totally hear you about your FI, too. Mine has really stepped up to the plate and he's been a big help with the last minute things. He seems really interested in everything, too, so I never feel like I'm boring him when I talk wedding stuff. It's nice to have that support at home, isn't it- makes us remember why we're marrying the guy! On that note, I'm so glad that I'm doing a DW. I wanted to anyway, but FI was really all for one and he had very little interest in a more traditional wedding. He's really excited for it and I think the fact that we're doing things "our way" instead of staying home is a big part of that.

Sunscreens are rated or classified by the strength of their SPF. The SPF numbers on the packaging can range from as low as 2 to greater than 50. These numbers refer to the product's ability to deflect the sun's burning rays. The sunscreen SPF rating is calculated by comparing the amount of time needed to produce a sunburn on sunscreen-protected skin to the amount of time needed to cause a sunburn on unprotected skin. For example, if a sunscreen is rated SPF 2 and a person who would normally turn red after 10 minutes of exposure in the sun uses it, it would take 20 minutes of exposure for the skin to turn red. A sunscreen with an SPF of 15 would allow that person to multiply that initial burning time by 15, which means it would take 15 times longer to burn, or 150 minutes. Even with this protection, sunscreen photo degrades (breaks down) and rubs off with normal wear, so it needs to be reapplied at least every two hours. Dermatologists strongly recommend using a broad-spectrum (UVA and UVB protection) water-resistant sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or greater year-round for all skin types. This will help protect against sunburn, premature aging (e.g., age spots and wrinkles) and skin cancer Awesome- thanks! I know reapplying it helps a lot. FI and I were really diligent about putting on sunscreen every few hours or after we were in the water and I think that helps a lot. Also- we always buy fresh sunscreen rather than keep it from year to year. Tracy- love the fans, too! Wow- you're going all out, your guests are going to love it!

Firstly, my fiance was employed by them, so now we are down to one salary, and our wedding is in forty-some days. Additionally, we had booked our wedding group through them, for 43 people total. Needless to say, I haven't had much BDW time lately, as we are trying to figure our re-booking everyone through other airlines, for similar prices. It's been a hectic few days. :0( I'm so sorry to hear that you've been impacted by this so much! The wedding is bad enough but your FI losing his job is terrible. I'm sure you two will bounce back but if you need any support or just want to vent in the meantime we're here for you. Good luck!
