  1. I don't either is more romantic than the other. I grew up in the South, and I saw church weddings all my life. I always thought I would get married in a church. It's funny how I'm so ready to go away and get married on a beach!! I LOVE the beach! So it all depends on your preference. If your hubby really wants to do it, maybe he can help you more with the planning this time around or like cougs said, revisit the idea in 5 to 10 years
  2. Counseling forces people to address issues that they normally wouldn't. My FI and I weren't happy campers after every session, but did we learn more about each other? Yes. My FI is the type of person who doesn't want to deal with issues head on, so the counseling was hard for him at first, but he got used to it. If people are having problems because of it, I think maybe it's because things are being said that normally wouldn't be under different circumstances. The FI and I learned to communicate our needs, and I think that helped us the most.
  3. I've realized by using this forum that photogs are VERY expensive! So much more than I actually thought. So we have to re-arrange our budget. most of the packages I've come across offer at least 5 hours of coverage for about $1800-2000. For 8-10 hours, you may end up paying about $2500-4000 for a really good photog. I'm hooked on Nathaniel Thompson's photos, but I'm not going to be able to afford him, so I'm still looking. Many of the brides on this forum used AMAZING photogs and their pics look very professional as though they should be in a bridal magazine. I know I want that look for my wedding, so I'm just gonna have to bite the bullet and spend the money.
  4. Hi My FI and I did pre-marital counseling through our church. It was really helpful. It brought out some things that we didn't necessarily talk about and some that we usually do talk about. We loved it because it gave us time to really focus on our relationship, which most people don't have time to do. I'd say go for it. I do know that some couples didn't get married because of it, but that's probably because they weren't meant to be anyway.
  5. congrats and welcome to the forum!
  6. Sandals Negril is a very nice resort! You are paying for the food, drinks, room, airfare, and the security of being secluded. My FI and went there in during the off season and we paid about $2500 for about four nights, so your price is just about right. It's well worth it! Negril is considered the quieter part of Jamaica and the prices are much higher than in Montego Bay. But Sandals is top notch. You will love every minute of it.
  7. I was thinking of doing the same thing! The FI and I just bought a house and hiring a wedding coordinator outside of the one the resort provides is just not an option for us. You should be able to find plenty of info here. Just do a search. Good luck!

  15. I thought of having an AHR but only if it wouldn't cost us too much money! I'm from Georgia and my family is HUGE! so the FI and I will probably end up having a BBQ at my grandmother's house. Hopefully, we won't spend a bunch of money! Then again, I don't think anyone is expecting us to have an AHR so maybe we won't.
