  1. I actually saw this in another you tube wedding video of ROR as well. I guess I'll find out about the other options when I get to the resort and speak with Chandlyn. I'm guessing they are from another company.
  2. You and I are on the same page I think that would be awesome! The reggae band would give the reception an authentic flair and the DJ allows you to dance to some popular music that other people will want to hear! I'm trying to decide what to do now. I want to hear the reggae band that the resort uses, but I can't get any information about them other than their name. I googled them w/no luck
  3. Thats an awesome price! I was quoted $450 by ROR for 3 performances which I guess is a total of 10-15 minutes. I think its worth it though.
  4. I've seen alot of people do rum cake, my MIL is Jamaican and swears we have to have black cake at the wedding. I myself am considering one layer of white cake and one layer of chocolate w/strawberries in between.
  5. I loved your review, thanks for providing so much detail. I have been 2nd guessing my choice of ROR but you have helped calm some of my fears. I keep reading TripAdvisor and it scares me so I am glad to see that you had such a wonderful time! Did you bring the blue/sapphire tale covers, or did Chandlyn provide that? Also, how did your cake taste, it looks beautiful! Lastly, did you happen to see any receptions there w/a reggae band? I'm dying to know how if they are worth it.
  6. I was watching a You Tube video of a couple who got married at the ROR and their chairs were completely different, quite fancy to be exact. I love them, but don't know if its an option to upgrade or if this couple rented their chairs from another company. Does anyone know? Check out the video around minute 3:30--Has anyone ever seen these. I've pasted the link below, just in case it doesn't show up go to YouTube and it's under title "destination: Riu Ocho Rios-Jamiaca" YouTube - destination: RIU-Ocho Rios Jamaica

  8. I can understand. I've been reading Tripadvisor alot lately and its got me really worried. The biggest complaints are a musty smell, hard pillows, and food. I've tried to comfort my worries by looking at the stats and only 10% of people feel the resort is poor or terrible. So hopefully eveything turns out great.
  9. I wonder about this same exact thing. My worry is that since there are 3 weddings a day it will feel overcrowded. I worry about sharing my reception with another bridal party. I also worry that with the beach ceremony I will be too focused the people who are swimming and partying beside the gazebo. As time gets closer I worry about alot and wonder if I picked the right resort for me.
  10. I'm surprised about Lady Hamilton. I was just reading their website and wishing I had chosen to do my wedding there....The 3 choices you have mentioned sound really good. I'm going with the Riu Ocho Rios, but the Riu in Negril is just as good, I think Tropical Bay is more expensive than their other property though. I've been reading reviews of Rose Hall and they have great reviews and the wedding pics are nice too. The only con to the Riu Negril from what I've read on the forum is that their prices are increasing about 45% for next year so talk with the WC about that. Also, with the RIU since they do so many wedding a day, the WC will take some time to get back to you and it can be frustrating. But i've found that I don't really have to email the WC too much because I find out most of my info on here.
  11. Does anyone know if the ROR allows outside vendors for a Reggae Band?
  12. I'm debating the same thing. I would love to know how the reggae band at the ROR is. I can't find anyone that has used them
  13. Wonderful planning thread! Everything was so beautiful. I loved how your wedding had the steel drum players dress alike.
  14. bump...anyone experienced the reggae band at all?
