I also was getting cold feet. I started to realize this is FOREVER and actually began searching for reasons not to get married. I was scared of getting hurt in some way or making a big mistake even though I've been with him for over 2 years and he's been an absolutely amazing fiance to me. We had a long talk and afterwards I realized that my fears are normal and I know there is no other person I'd rather be with. Also, the annoying part will always be there, I'm sure I annoy the crap out of him too

I'm also coming in on this late. I hope that therapy is really working things out for you. I agree maybe you should consider postponing the wedding until you guys are 100% sure that this is the right time. I wouldn't worry about what anyone will think because its your money and although your family might complain they will love and support you through it. My main concern is that he mentioned suicide. Our best man just committed suicide and no one saw it coming. Seeing how much pain this has put people through I don't want that to happen to you. I know that he said he doesn't really feel that way, I just wanted to make sure you've worked on that part thoroughly. I'm sure he loves you very much and weddings are a stressful thing within themselves so not having a job just makes it 10 times worse. You all will work it out, but take it doesn't hurt to take it slow and start off your marriage without stress.

Thanks for all of your condolensces and suggestions. I hadn't thought of a toast or a poem so I will talk those options over with my luv and see which one he would be most comfortable with. It has been hard to deal with especially because he left 2 young children behind. I just want to make sure we honor him in the right way and don't make people too overly emotional or sad. My fiance has been dealing with alot in general because his mother is also terminally ill and she will not be able to to make it to the ceremony.

Sadly, the best man unexpectantly passed away last week. Our wedding is next month and I want to find a way to honor him and don't know what to do. I told DH that we could leave the spot where he would have stood empty and sprinkle it with rose petals. DH suggested putting a poem or something on the program. I'm not sure what we should do. Any ideas?

Photographer in Rooms at RIU
yumyum90 replied to wemkulaf's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
Idk, my photog photographs at the ROR all the time and in our contract that he made he states that he will be there 30 minutes before the ceremony to take pics in our room so maybe at ROR it's not a problem... -
Photographer in Rooms at RIU
yumyum90 replied to wemkulaf's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
Theres another thread on this somewhere. I'm getting married at the one in Ocho Rios and I saw someone wrote about that as well. But I've seen plenty of professional pics in rooms, so the photog had to be in there. I mean, how can they stop it really. If your paying the fee for them to be onsite, it would be odd that they would be restricted to certain areas. Hopefully some other Negrils brides will chime in, but I think there has to be a way to get around this. -

I really love the lanterns as well but we are having our reception on the beach and there isn't a structure to support them, building one started at $900. I opted for 8 wrapped palm trees with white sheer fabric and lights for a fraction of the cost. Wow, that sounds nice as well. And your right it is a fraction of the cost. Do you have a pic of what that would look like? I think I've seen it in one pic before but I'm not sure.

I have to say I concur. I am currently using them and totally regret it. Our guests who called to book were never called back. They eventually had to book the travel themselves and they were more than frustrated at us for using them. Katie is my "travel agent/coordinator" and she has been un-responsive. I don't understand it. She doesn't follow through on emails or phone calls. Its as if she doesn't want the business. I am glad I'm paid in full so I don't have to work with her anylonger.

Riu Ocho Rios Wedding Review 7/4/08
yumyum90 replied to riubride08's topic in Destination Wedding Reviews
I know this review is 2 years old, but I had to comment. You are the first bride I've come across that used the reggae band, I'd love to know how it was. Your photos are beautiful! -
Not too sure but I've read this tent and paper lanterns can be ordered from Tai Flora

From what I understand you must pay a per guest charge for anyone coming to the resort who's not a guest. I'm having one photog come so I must pay the fee for a 1 day guest pass for him which I'm not really sure the price of. I've heard it's between $80-$100. Other than that if you have someone like Tai Flora supplying flowers or decorations, or a baker bringing a cake there are no fees for that as those people just dropping off items and leaving.

Bringing CD to walk down aisle at ROR
yumyum90 replied to miznunu2010's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
I've seen this posted elsewhere but maybe it wasn't under this title so it could be hard to find. Chandlyn plays the music if you use a CD, and she provides the CD player too. Some people suggested putting each song on different cd's but one bride mentioned that she had all her songs on the same cd and just told Chandlyn which song to play at what time. I don't think there's any charge for this. -
What are your wedding colors??
yumyum90 replied to soontobeMrsAllen's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
Lilac is my main color and I'm going to infuse pink, dark purples, and cream in there. However, for my boquet and bridesmaid boquets I want alot of color since we are in the carribbean. However, I love it when I see the orange/red/pink/ combos at beach weddings, sooo pretty! -
"Good Friend" bails out of wedding to get a dog?
yumyum90 replied to yumyum90's topic in Just venting or funnies
I have to agree with you svetayasofiya. I actually had a talk with this friend last weekend and I guess she was feeling alot of guilt and admitted she could have come if she wanted to she was just being selfish. These were words out of her own mouth. I don't even know if I'm hurt or if I've just come to realize that I shouldn't hold any expectations of others and just ensure that I hold myself to high expectations. In hindsight I wouldn't want her there anyway, because she would not truly be happy for me. -
ROR Past Brides with a Large Wedding -Question
yumyum90 replied to yumyum90's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
Mrs Stobbe, That's not true. ROR does beach receptions. I've seen a few pics on here and I just viewed a very very nice one on you tube from ROR. It was on the beach draped w/a tent made of white scarf like fabric, it was absolutely beautiful! I've also seen people who just have their dinner table set up on the beach in the sand. Look throughout you tube and google as well as this forum and you'll find it. I know at ROR a private beach reception is going to cost about $55/pp this includes a bbq buffet which has been described as the best food overall at the ROR and an open bar, so totally worth it. I myself am doing a private pool side reception at that price. -

Great Review! It sounds like you had alot of fun and your pics are great! In order to get upgraded did you have to ask for it or was it automatic?
