He said he gave me the 'friend' rate because the jeweller that's making my wedding bands works in the same office building, but his normal price is only $20, so not too bad at all.

I haven't ordered from them myself so a call might be worthwhile to find out more? Thanks for the link! The prices are awesome, but they have the same crappy shipping prices as OTC! Why does it cost $23 to ship some crummy key chains across the border?! And that probably doesn't even include duties! Sigh...off to the dollar store I guess!
  3. I only had to have mine dipped after I had it sized... the heating brings out the goldish colour. The new jeweller I took it to said it should be dipped once a year or so. I can't believe the difference it made, it's so shiny and beautiful again!
  4. It's called magnetic hematite bead pendant rainbow supplier wholesale keychain spiral wrist coil keyring carabiner keychain wholesale canada I don't understand because you go to the website and it says 'updated January 26, 2010'. Maybe it just says that every day!
  5. I ordered my mugs from discountmugs.com as well. Shipping was reasonable. Shipping from Oriental Trading on the other hand, is ridiculous!! Their stuff is super cheap, but you must have the same billing address as shipping address so you can't even have them shipped to someone in the US for you. Once you get to the actual international shipping page it's like $25US extra just for shipping... for a $15 purchase, it's so not worth it! I have shopped from Amazon.com a few times now and their shipping has been very reasonable.. not sure why it would be $150? I am back to square one on my wrist coil keychains for the key/tip holders as the place I've been trying to order them has twice now cancelled my order after I've placed it saying they're out of stock! (Actually I just got an email as I was typing this from the owner of the company that health issues are affecting the operation of his business and now I feel bad for complaining to him about this ) I've seen some crappy ones at the Dollar store, but does anyone have any suggestions on where I can order these? 6. You sound like the majority of us DW on this site! No bad at all, just doing what you want to do and saving money where you can. Nothing wrong with that. I feel you on the registry... we only have 1 store locally that really does a registry and I find everything over priced... I hated adding things to it!
  7. wow, Kuteliya, that is an amazing ring and the fact that you didn't see it until the 'day' is astonishing!! Yay hubby, good job!
  8. Congrats SusieQ! Everything looks wonderful, thank you for sharing!! Love your DIYs!

  10. A link to my album of pictures Nadia sent me: DLR pics from Nadia pictures by amygirl1169 - Photobucket *Nadia, After seeing everything in person, where do you think you will hold your reception?? And THANKS again for this, very helpful!!
  11. POST #5: The SSG also has a completely enclosed, indoor area that seats 80 people. It’s a little small for my liking…and I kinda like being outdoors if possible. But I also like the indoor setup very much and think that it has much potential! It also has AC and overlooks the deck.
  12. POST #4: The SSG is open concept but still has a solid roof that is hidden by the billowing bits of fabric. So no worries for rain…although I’m not sure what you’d do for dancing if you were planning on using the deck! (which is uncovered). There is a bar that will serve your drinks ( $5 service fee for any outside bottle that is not theirs) . The bar is also accessible by other guests as this is part of what is referred to as “common areas.” Tiara said that if you are having a cocktail hour (6-6:30 or 7pm) that you would still have this area to yourself as dinner in the nearby restaurants do not start until 7pm. Common Areas:
  13. POST #3: Again, the SSG is just a short walk (less than 2 minutes) away from the gazebo. You can follow one of the white stoned paths that take you alongside the sea and up to the side entrance of the SSG. The pathway has a small sign that says “walk at your own risk” but it is perfectly safe. As an aside, Tiara recently got married October 2009 and she had her ceremony at the gazebo and reception at the SSG (120 guests in total!). She had a DJ, Dinner and dancing on the SSG, a cake & ice cream station and few other treats for her guests. She also brought her own photographer (but used the resort photographer for a few shots—after all, she still works there!) Anyway, here are some SSG shots: This is looking at where you would walk coming from the Gazebo (you have to take two steps up from the mini garden t hat you walk through) it brings you to this concrete landing, which is the side entrance for the SSG. The deck is in pretty good condition and the gaps between the planks aren’t too large that the females in your group will problems with their heels! Tiara says that you can seat 100-120 on the deck but that you wouldn’t have room for dancing if you go with the higher end of those numbers. She had some of her guests on the upper part to allow for dancing on the deck.
  14. POST #2: Facing the gazebo to the right of it there is a Jacuzzi tub (a little hidden as it is closer to the water and lower down – height wise). There is also a massage hut which again can easily be concealed as not to take away from the beauty of the gazebo setting. To the left of the gazebo is just more greenery and a landscaping including two large vases.
  15. Ok, I don't think I'll be able to upload these sized files, so I'll just post a regular post on Nadia's behalf with the pictures uploaded from PhotoBucket. So here goes ladies, enjoy! POST #1: Hi Everyone! I’ve had quite the week but I’ll spare you the long story and skip right to the juicy details! I met with Tiara, she is a LOVELY young lady and SUPER busy! I now understand why she barely has time to answer our e-mails! For the record, she does not have an assistant but has asked many times to no avail, to be given one. Anyhow, for those of you who were still feeling unsure about your choice of DLR, let me reassure you that you will NOT regret your choice for one moment!! The resort is simply breathtaking!! I feel that I’m qualified to make this statement considering I have attended weddings at both Dreams Palm Beach and Dreams Punta Cana—DLR is without a doubt the BEST of the three. Now to be fair, I will address the ONLY issues that I thought were so-so but certainly not deal breakers. First, the lobby; the phrase “never judge a book by its cover†comes to mind. The lobby is unimpressive, a little small, a little dark but entirely sufficient for what you need it for (check in-check out). If you allow the lobby to influence what you feel the rest of the resort should look like…you are guaranteed to be knocked flat on your back with awe! I felt like I was entering an entirely different world when I exited the lobby…beauty, grandiose grounds and just overall perfection!! Second, as you exit the lobby there is a temporary concert size stage smack in front of you! (will attach picture in the next overview I do)—Anyhow, it was Kind of like the ones you’d see at the park in the summer for concerts. I was a bit taken aback by this monstrosity when I first saw it but when I spoke to Tiara (and a few guests) about it they all told me how wonderful the shows had been that were performed there…PEOPLE WERE ACTUALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO THE ENTERTAINMENT (This is unheard of in the DR…trust me on this one!) Okay, onto other stuff. First I want to discuss the Wedding Gazebo. All I can say is OMG!!! I actually started crying when I saw it!! It is tucked away quite nicely, across from the preferred club buildings and just behind the back of the SSG. Of all of the possible wedding locations on the resort, this one is the most private. The gazebo is HUGE, and the view is stunning, whether you’re sitting down (guests) or standing up (bride and groom). There is plenty of room for chairs if you’re having a big wedding (easily fit 100-150 or more). My only caution are the white stones. They are NOT pebbles so be careful what type of shoe or no shoe that you wear because it was a little tricky to walk on. (Wedge or platform would be best I think…but a heel might also give you an anchor by piercing through the stones right to the ground.) more to come...
  16. Ok, I'm working hard to try to upload them for everyone, but they are taking forever! I might have to try another approach But, from what I've seen/read so far, WOW, Nadia thank you for writing this for us!!!
  17. Welcome back, Nadia! I just emailed you about the attachments. Can't wait to hear back on your trip!
  18. We got engaged last Valentine's day and my bridal party threw me an engagement party in May. It was fairly intimate, about 30 people, but it was fun!
  19. Mine is also about 6 weeks prior to the wedding. But it really just depends what works for you!
  20. OMGsh, this is just terrible. I don't even have the words to express what I would do if I were in this situation! He has some serious making up to do if he's going to ever get in your good books again. Ughh, why do guys have to be so sleazy sometimes?! Like he has a stunning wife and still needs to get a rush from the office tramp flirting with him... And SHAME on her for playing her role in this too. Don't forget, what goes around, comes around and she will get hers one day!
  21. nsBride - I found awesome callas at Hobby Lobby (in the US though, so you'd have to take a trip over the border). SuzyQ - thanks for the step by step! So helpful!!
