  1. That is such a cool idea. I would go for it! It`s totally unique. For sure post the pics afterwards!!
  2. They look awesome!! Great job on your first DIY project!! Mine will also be for our boarding pass invites so hopefully they turn out as nice :-)
  3. I went to Varadero last year for a wedding, and the couple chose to do the catamaran tour to Cayo Blanco. About half the group went and we had a fabulous time!! It was for sure one of the highlights of our trip. You get picked up around 9ish and it is a really fun day...they serve drinks on the catamaran and at the island Cayo Blanco (that made the day even more fun lol) and there is a full buffet as well. They offer a lobster tail on the catamaran for 10 pesos which was THE BEST I have ever had....totally worth it and my fiance and I still talk about it! The guide for the day was so full of energy and on the way home we had a dance party on the boat. When we go down next May this is 100% on our list to do with our guests.
  4. We are getting married in May, and sent out the STD postcards and magnets two weeks ago. I was unsure of when to send out the actual invites but I am so glad someone mentioned waiting until after the holidays so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle.
  5. thanks so much for this, it is so helpful. It almost sounds like it is too easy if you have never been married.
  6. We are hoping to get married at this resort on May 18th...it looks so pretty and so far Joyma has been great to work with. I am so glad to see that more brides are choosing this resort! We'll have to help eachother out as we go :-)
  7. Hey if you can send me your email I will send the pics I have to you. I can't get them to post on here for some reason
  8. Hey JulesnPhil, We are most likely gonna be married at the Melia Varadero next May. It was a super hard decision (totally know what you are going through) but after months of going back and forth that one seems to be the winner. I have a bunch of info and pictures I can send you if you want just msg me with your email. They have a really great wedding package and if you have over 17 guests it's free (huge bonus!) The wedding coordinator is Joyma and she has been so helpful at answering my million and one questions and always responds to my emails within a day or two. The wedding gazebo they have is beyond gorgeous and it over looks the ocean. Good luck and let me know if there is anything I can help you with :-)

I'm sending out the "save the date" cards next month. I figured 8 mths is a good "heads up" I need help figuring out how to make this as cost effective as possible...any ideas? Please heeeeelp! I can't say enough great things about VistaPrint...they have such cute stuff at amazing prices! I wonder how they even make a profit because it seems like once you sign up they send you emails almost daily about free offers and promotions. We ended up doing a STD postcard and b/c we placed an earlier order for return stamps we got 100 postcards for free!
  10. wow that is pretty rude and totally random...I agree with everyone else that you should tell her you can't do it so she can go show up at some other 'friends' house to ask them. Good luck :-)
  11. I like dress # 1 on you....dress #3 looks great as well but I think dress #1 is classy and sexy and you look really happy in it :-). let us know what you pick
  12. We're going with turquoise and white...maybe add a little sandy brown in there somewhere.
  13. awww I wish I would have seen this thread earlier!! I am gonna be gone up north that week but it would have been awesome to meet you guys!! Have some drinks for me! xo
  14. I did a search and couldn't find what I was looking for (sorry MODS if this is somewhere else). My AHR isn't for a year away but just wondering if you guys that are having/had one did you do any kind of entrance for you and your hubby? (like at a regular reception). Or did you just kind of mingle around with everyone as they came in? I know I have tonnes of time and a billion things to think about with the actual DW but today this is the thing I am questioning lol. I wonder what I will do/think about once the wedding stuff is all over with.
  15. I think you should do whatever you are comfortable with. It is your day and you are what is important so if the thought of an AHR doesn't appeal to you than don't have one. You don't even need an explanation or reason for not having one IMO. That being said, I would definitely make a point of visiting those family and friends that you want to be there but can't (grandparents) and show them pictures/videos tell them stories about it. I am sure if they could be there for you they would and they would love to catch up with you afterwords as a Mrs.
  16. Is there any way you could ask your quests to put down a little each for their deposit. Our TA has told us that once we book we or the guests need have a week come up with a deposit of $2000 or $200 per person (10 people will secure the group rate). We have a few guests that WANT to put down their own deposit so it helps for later on when the full payment is due. Unless you are paying for your guests I think that could work. Good luck
  17. Thanks for posting this!! I really want to do this at our ceremony :-)
