  1. Wow, thanks for the postal alert Erin. It's hard not to feel like we're getting nickled and dimed in every direction. This is useful information though.
  2. I love the brand "Hanky Panky" and every now and again, they have sample sales
  3. Welcome to the forum and like Poohshek stated, there is plenty of information on this forum about Ana y Jose and getting married in the Mayan Riviera.
  4. I think that's a beautiful idea to include both your son and father. I think either version (both walking down at the same time or trading off) will work well. I'm sure it will mean a lot to your son.
  5. Welcome to the forum. We all know how overwhelming it can be planning a destination wedding but you found a great place to get resources and support.
  6. First aid supplies and possibly ready-made first aid kits. Also, I'm a big fan of chapstick and aloe after-sun gel. I would hold off on snacks for the time being since your wedding date is in November.
  7. My girlfriend always posts on this website and I usually sit back and listen, but I had to post a response to this thread. The male species can be insensitive and rude at times, but this takes it to a new level. I have learned (sometimes the hard way) that you don't express all of your thoughts (especially when you have to spend the night with the person you offended). Us men always say things that we regret and oftentimes think that is alright because we are telling the truth and not "sugarcoating" things. I do guarantee that after your fiance finishes slamming doors and being defensive, he will genuinely be sorry and apologize for his remarks. And the good thing is that he will never make that mistake again! I have learned that whenever my girlfriend asks me if what she is wearing is okay, the answer is a resounding "You look Beautiful"! You live and learn, and I think that “not getting any†will be an indelible reminder of what NOT to do again.

    I'm New...

Welcome to the forum, you will find lots of useful information about destination weddings and EDSS. Have fun!
  9. I was able to bring home my friend's bouquet following her wedding in Mexico. While she went off on her honeymoon, I was able to get the flowers through customs at JFK in New York without any problems. I think the main thing customs are looking for is if you bring anything into the country that can affect crops such as animals or plants. I don't think you should have any issues.
  10. Wow! They are both so young, it's hard to believe

    Howdy

Welcome to the forum! You'll find a lot of helpful information here. Have fun
  12. Good list of munchies! I think you covered a nice range of snacks. Granola bars (and/or perhaps Neutri-Grain bars) are good for folks that like a light breakfast, chips and cookies are good for anytime of day, and you can never have too much gum. Are children attending? If so maybe some sort of fruit roll-up snack?
  13. I stayed at Couples Swept Away last year and absolutely LOVED it (I have never been to Sandles, so I cannot comment on that resort). Our room was spacious and like TA Jennifer stated, designed in a minimalist fashion with very comfy beds. The grounds were very well kept and the beach was perfect. The food was fantastic and they even provided a free catamaran that took groups on a sunset trip to a popular cliff diving area known as Rick's Cafe (very fun). But what was most notable about Couples Swept Away was the warmth of the hotel staff. We were greeted as the taxi pulled up to the hotel with cold lemon-soaked washcloths and champagne. Check-in was hastle free and we only had to identify ourselves once, after that, everyone knew us by name. We were overwhelmed with the hospitality of all the hotel personnel and were surprised when the hotel manager and asst. manager knew us by name and invited us to a special cocktail hour/dinner with them pool-side. We were also excited to find out that the hotel is locally owned (by Jamaicans) and that they support local economies, which is something very important for us, as are policies about same-sex couples. I highly recommend this hotel and am def planning on returning!!
  14. I agree that you should have your ceremony at the time that you and your FI want and I think it's great that you are taking the comfort level of your guests into consideration pertaining to the heat. I think it's also important to have enough time for you guys to comfortably get ready in the morning.
  15. Congratulations! What a relief to cross that off your list.
  16. That was hilarious (in "the office" kind of way). It was uncomfortable and creepy, but yet Letterman did a great job with it. I hope it was just a joke.

    Help Me!

Welcome to the forum! Do you have an idea as to which part of Jamaica you want to get married in? Negril, Ocho Rios, Montego Bay, etc.? There are All Inclusive (AI) hotels or smaller boutique hotels for your consideration as well.
  18. Oh, San Fran Sarah, great color combinations! I am def a burnt orange girl but have not decided about the accent colors yet. Perhaps colbalt blue, turquoise, magenta, or sand.
  19. Wedding Coordinators in the area should be able to point you in the right direction in terms of finding a reception venue with all of the entertainment options you want. Have you started contacting WC companies in Hawaii?
