  1. this thread is making me so happy! I can't wait to get married and post Mine up here!!
  2. invite everyone YOU would like to come.. some won't make it, obviously, but you might be surprised by who does come! (and who doesn't), and it will save you the embarassment of the late invite (when you realize someone you thought wouldn't come WOULD have liked to come, so you send them the invite late.. haha happened to me!)
  3. so cute! how much did it cost? (if you don't mind me asking)
  4. oooh I'm interested in this too. I was thinking about Evitas
  5. these are all so beautiful!! for those of you who are already married, was your minister/judge good about going along with the script?
  6. For all of the Canadian brides - Canadian Tire has Kodak 'sport' cameras on sale for half price (around $5 each). They are good for underwater, and just general outdoor pics!
  7. I would say bring it up.. i know this is easier said than done, but what if you took her aside (or out for coffee/lunch/something) and just said (in a REALLY non-confrontational way), 'hey i noticed that you really don't seem into the wedding thing' (and be prepared with examples if she asks), and then (again in a really non threatening way), ask her what the problem is, is it themoney etc.." - if you do this really kindly, i SWEAR you can't lose.. i know it's so difficult, (and cliche), but it will be harder for her to be bitchy to you if you're being sweet.. also, this gives her a chance to say "hey, i really can't afford it", and you can give her an out (and ask one of your other friends!). If it's just that she's jealous, then someone will have to clue her in that the day is not about her (and maybe it would be better if you talked to someone in her family about this, and had them bring it up with her). good luck!
  8. here's mine! James and Amanda are getting married! Ocho Rios, Jamaica 2010 | Welcome | jamesandamanda2010
  9. Congratulations and thank you so much for posting! Can't wait to see your pics!!
  10. I REALLY hope this isn't against the rules or anything! (if it is I'm sorry mods! just let me know!) I have a few friends getting married, and some are planning to buy second hand dresses, and some are planning to sell their dresses after they get married. I know one of my friends is having a terrible time trying to find a dress on Ebay/craigslist etc., and I was wondering if it would be appropriate to use this thread for BDW brides who want to sell their wedding dress? You could post pics etc? (and to keep it from being overrun by sellers, non brides, maybe we could make it so no noobs can sell? only people who have posted and participated in the site)? I have nothing to buy or sell, but i am looking for a dress, and my friend really inspired me, so i hope this is ok! and if not, I'm sorry!
  11. hi! I posted this before, and then had it removed (it makes me nervous to have my site public! not sure why).. anyway.. in the spirit of sharing (and because I have used so many ideas from other brides who generously posted), I am going to post mine! James and Amanda are getting married! Ocho Rios, Jamaica 2010 | Welcome | jamesandamanda2010
  12. Beautiful!! I am definitely going to use the jersey idea! (with my man's fav. team!) I actually think a male photographer might be a good thing, just because they see things from a male perspective.. what is sexy to us might not be sexy to our guys.. you know?
  13. we are upgrading our MOH and BM's rooms (from regular to ocean view jr. suites) (along with the regular bm/gm gifts)
  14. oooh i think this is a great idea! I have read a few places that people love the underwater cameras! I'd guess hit! If we had fewer guests (or if i could find them for cheap), I'd definitely do it!
  15. Have it!! i'm not having one, but I AM having a shower, because my female friends and family Wanted to throw one ( I definitely did NOT ask for one), that said, you only get married once (at least you hope!), if you want to do something do it! I agree with everybody about the expense of even attending your wedding, etc., but I don't think it means you're TOTALLY obligated not to have a stag & doe or shower or whatever.. chances are, there are a LOT of people who would get a kick out of celebrating your impending wedding who are NOT going to be able to make it to the actual wedding, SO here are my thoughts: If you want it, HAVE IT! make it cheap to get in!! REALLY cheap (like.. under 5 bucks) have drinks be cheap have tickets for prizes be optional to buy. THIS WAY it can be a SUPER cheap night out for people.. yeah you'll make some money (maybe not thousands), but I've been to a ton of these (and people who go do not even necessarily know the couple well, but they are seriously just so fun to go to!).. have a band, and make it fun, and it ends up being a fun party for everybody! You get to celebrate your relationship with your nearest and dearest and you might make some money (or not, but if your thinking is that it'll be like an AHR, then who cares if you don't make a ton). I know I'm prattling on.. im really tired.. but i say do it! just don't make it a shameless money-grubbing thing and it'll be awesome!
  16. This is a great thread!! So far, my bags are containing: A Tshirt silkscreened by my fi's dad with his own design! mini bandaid pack mini hand sanitizer disposable camera tide pen Not sure what else we'll include yet, but this thread has been a HUGE help!
  17. Thanks SO much for the pics/info justustwo! Can you tell me how much your flower decorations for the chuppah cost? (I know it will be different, depending), but I'm just wondering how much extra it was in total to have the chuppah. thank you again!! You have totally reassured me re: sunlight!
