  1. thanks for the review! Bah, i can't wait to be able to write mine! (although.. that would mean it was over.. so maybe I just can't wait for our trip/wedding!)
  2. msmoodyr - yes! we are spreading it out among ourselves, our parents, and a few guests.. We will probably have in total 2 big suitcases filled with stuff (some for our OOT bags for guests).. but I just feel like it's such a waste to take it down there, and then haul it all back and never use it again (esp. things like the chair sashes, big starfish, and candle/holder centerpieces) it would be crazy and so not worth it. I know I would have loved to have just used the stuff from a wedding earlier in the week, but now that I've buckled and bought the stuff, I definitely want to pass it on! I know chandlyn won't keep things for long periods.. but a few days probably won't be a big deal. I'm really glad that people are interested! It would be nice if there was someone getting married on the 24th or 25th who could use it and then just pass it to the next person so chandlyn didn't have to keep it, but I'll do my best to convince her to store it for a few days!
  3. damn.. i would really like to have an idea for this too!
  4. We would like to donate to a Jamaican charity, but we're having some trouble finding/choosing one. It's also hard to know which are reputable.. Does anybody have any suggestions?
  5. lol.. im kind of relieved to hear that isaidyes! I JUST sent my stuff to chandlyn, I JUST ordered all of the stuff i listed in this thread, and I JUST started to think about centrepieces.. oh.. and i don't yet have a confirmed photographer.. it came up too quickly! Congrats and have a great day! We're going down on the 18th, so maybe I'll see you!
  6. (but close to it) I am bringing SO much stuff. And in all likelihood, I will not bring it all home again with me.. so if there is anyone who will be around on the 24th (we're leaving on the 25th) and is getting married anytime after me, I would be happy to share my stuff with you. (if you could use it/the colours were right etc). - tall glasses/vases for centerpieces (orchids in water with floating candle on top) - chair sashes (ocean blue/turquoise organza) -starfish (40 large real ones, white (i am planning to put a piece of felt & safety pin on the back of them) - paper lanterns (and electrical cords to light them all up) (navy blue, aqua, and deep/bright pink) - little "cracked glass" multicoloured round candle holders - twinkle lights (for the pillars at the poolside reception) - parasols in white, blue and pink there are other things too... if you're interested pm me and I'll give you a complete list!
  7. I'm pissed off at my FMIL. Even more so because I REALLY want to have a good relationship with her.. I love my FI, and I really want to love his mom.. but we're SO different and I just don't trust her. 1. She's sneaky and manipulative.. and overly dramatic. 2. She's extremely superficial.. constantly fixates on how she looks (she's in her 50's.. and does look good.. but give it a freaking break.. you're never going to be 20 again, age gracefully), how skinny she is, and constantly comments on how I look, and how my friends look, and how random little kids look ("what a fat pig").. seriously.. 3. When FI and I first got engaged, she told us that she and her husband had decided on a specific amount they would contribute to the wedding.. we are extremely tight right now, as I'm a student and shifts are short at work for him because of the economy.. since that time, she has not made mention of it again, nor has she offered to pay for any part of the wedding.. It's frustrating, because we really don't expect anybody else to pay for our wedding, but to say that you will contribute, and then not follow though.. just sucks.. we are extremely stressed, and strapped, and they have asked my parents what they are giving us (my parents have paid for things for our wedding and also given us a cash amount, but have not told the inlaws that), and then said to them that "well we are planning to go on a lot of vacations this year, so I guess we'll see what's left in the bank account".. I mean, they have every right to spend their hard earned money on themselves.. but to say that.. (when they KNOW how hard things have been for us in the past two years), is just so tacky. 4. her husband constantly makes sexually innapropriate comments to me, my family members, my friends.. granted this is not her fault.. and usually she tells him to tone it down.. but from time to time she contributes, and it makes me sick.
  8. This is so great! Thank you for sharing!! I have a question though.. I'm using a mac.. and I can't figure out how to work this (ie. the graphic.. how would i change the date?... or where would i find an alltogether new graphic? And how did you get the 'Jamaica' text box to slant?).. I went through the tutorial posted, but it was for a PC.. can somebody help me out? thanks!!
  9. It was SO thoughtful of you to post those here, thanks so much!
  10. Hi ladies! Just wondering, how much fabric (I'm thinking organza) do you need for the average Chuppah/Huppah? How big are they generally? Thanks!!
  11. THANK YOU for your review! It was FANTASTIC!! I am so much more excited now!!!
  12. Ooooh this is a good one! I'm totally off track (got busy with work, school, shower, etc.. not really in the wedding planning mood anymore). I have exactly 4 months until my wedding DONE: Date confirmed STD's out Invites ordered Dress ordered BM dresses ordered Ordered my wedding band NOT DONE: chosen/ordered/bought groom outfit ordered groom wedding band (it's chosen.. we're procrastinators) ditto groomsmen thought about decorations ordered chair ties gotten in shape (haha) figured out photography ditto videography figured out makeup welcome letter wedding playlist decided on music (ie.. dj, or ipod) OOT bags (but they're started!) NOT DONE (but can be done at resort) chosen flowers settled on a menu (although we have an idea) I only have FOUR months.. this is a reality check.. i need to get it in gear, big time!
  13. you look gorgeous!!! Congratulations!! What time of the day did you get married? and how far was the chuppah from the wedding gazebo? (and who did the flowers on the arch? they were gorgeous! Do you mind if i ask how much they cost?) Thanks so much!! Congrats again, I LOVED your hair!
  14. Yayyy!! Have a great week! Please please write a review! It's been so long! haha we're starving here! Have a fantastic wedding!!
  15. I have NO idea how we're going to afford our wedding.. even our credit cards won't cut it.. but it hasn't stopped me from continuing to plan as though everything is going to be totally fine! Imaginary wedding fairy syndrome?
  16. great review!! Thank you for posting! and congratulations!
  17. Hi! I have booked a poolside reception, and chandlyn sent me a copy of the BBQ menu. SO I have two questions: 1. It lists ribs, chicken breast, beef, sausage and shrimp. Do you choose from these, or are they all part of the dinner? (I realize it's buffet) 2. A few people have said that they recommend "upgrading" to the "jamaican" menu. What does this mean? Chandlyn didn't send me anything regarding a menu upgrade.. and I can't figure it out from this forum, can anybody fill me in? or direct me to an appropriate thread? Thanks!!
  18. oooh I'm booked for a saturday as well, and I would love to know this. Also, does the beach party include fire dancers? That might be a HUGE distraction (and i would hate for people to miss one of the coolest things about the resort!) Is it always saturday?
