  11. I wouldn't be worry about bringing your photographer to the resort - as soon he is not Cuban. Law in Cuba allow to charge only 200 CUC for a wedding service and there is no way that Cuban photographer will be able to survive , buy equipment (which is very expensive - we travel with $20 000 in our bags. This of course sucks and I hope that this will change one day. Only thing we can do - as photographers - promote weddings in Cuba, bring staff for people when we are down there and educate local photographers. Every time we bring laptops, used cameras, DVDs and leave there. As soon your photographer is Canadian, European (etc) he is a tourist in Cuba. You don't hire photographer in Cuba, he doesn't operate a business there. He is there as your Canadian guest. Yes, you have to pay a day pass to the resort and they will treat your photographer like your guest. What's goes on in Canada that's not their problem. You don't pay in Cuba for any services. Nice tip for your wedding coordinator (like perfumes from Winners or whatever, doesn't have to be expensive) will help for sure. Please PM if you have any questions regarding specific resorts.
  12. I visited resort a week ago and everything looks really great! There is still some construction going on and wedding gazebo and some restaurants are not ready - however they should be in the spring. Check some pictures on the group: Photos from Iberostar Laguna Azul Brides - Varadero | Facebook
  13. Hi Stacey, I will try to answer your questions: 2pm ceremony - yes it will be hot but gazebo will give you a shade. You can check on the slideshow - ceremony was in the beach gazebo, reception in Mediterranean and night pictures in Gazebo at the pool. Jessica and Brandon 5 hours sounds a lot but it will fly. You may need to refresh before the the reception (most of my Brides do this). Is getting dark at about 6:00 pm so you will probably be done with the pictures until than. Dinner - Mediterranean is most intimate and food is really great! Check how it looks like on the slideshow. Dance- If you have enough people to keep party going for sure pool party will be fun. Hoverer disco is great and paying extra may not be necessary. Pictures- Havana is almost 2 hours away from Iberostar, so most of the pictures taken there happen on the other day. Matanzas is little bit closer (30 min)and has real Cuban feel. Taking big taxi (10 people) to Matanzas will cost you about 100 CUC (after bargaining). You can also go to Cardenas which is pretty close. I'm leaving for Cuba on 22nd of November and for sure I will post some more pictures after. All the best with planning!
  14. Barcelo is a beautiful resort and Cuba absolutely amazing place! Happy planning:)
  15. Greece is incredible -I love it! Have fun with planning and on forum.
  16. there is a lot's of great ideas to incorporate some "Cuba" in your wedding - for non smokers - Cuba is all about the music, the same trio who played for your ceremony can be at the reception - there is plenty of craft and nice souvenirs on the market in Varadero - they will make great wedding favor. - you can learn to dance rumba and dance it for your first dance (or the second part of it) -you can use Maracas (rattles) for the kissing game -rent nice classic car for pictures or just do them in the city
  17. lashes extensions are great and look much better on the pictures then fakes. I will definitely recommend mac foundation. After many years of working as a photographer and make-up artist and trying hundreds of different ones - MAC is number 1. Good applied will stay on your face for whole day. It feels heavy but doesn't looks like this. You also mix it with your moisturizer for every day use and lighter coverage. Important things - apply foundation with the brush and then set with face spray. (body shop - face mist with vitamin E works perfectly and is very nice for everyday use in summer). Blotting papers works great as you will sweat. Don't put to much dry powder on, just foundation and a little bit of bronzer works great for destination weddings.
  18. Congratulation! Have a fun with planning:)
  19. anything close to your skin color will work. spandex in the skin color will work as well. swimming suit or just the bottom. just remember about a color.
  20. Barcelo is really great and wedding coordinator is super nice. Very laid back It's pretty popular resort - they have a wedding there everyday. Gazebo is nice and big and surroundings are pretty as well. We spending few weeks of April in Vardero every year - weather is great as well. Resort is close to the town and basically you can walk there - which is great:) you can see pictures from this resort here , this was a very short wedding coverage, unfortunately we didn't went for a session out of the resort - but you can see resort very well (password Varadero): Photo Access
