  1. I thought about using it too but I hear when you have to go you have to go that second or wear a dipper and the thought of having to leave meetings and using my work bathroom grossed me out...let me know if your experience is different because I am going to need to do something soon about my weight
  2. Great idea...how many are you going to make? Just a thought...if it isn't a lot try personalizing them pick out fabric that fits their personal style
  3. This is such a cute chit chat...Well I live in Merrick, NY a town in Long Island...Not much happens here but a lot of people grew up here. Right now Lindsey Lohan's house is down the block from me they are shooting a reality show for E! I hate to admit it but I never miss an episode I actually DVR it and play it in slow motion looking for my house We are also famous for the infamous Amy Fisher who dated Joey Butafucco and shot his wife (not in Merrick) in the 90's. Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield met in the Merrick HS and started the best invention ever Ben & Jerry's. And last but not least Michael Kors grew up here as well actually my nutritionist and future father in law were great friends with him in HS. So that is a little about Merrick's history
  4. Good luck no matter what you will glow on your wedding day and that is all that counts. Ps I am starting my trainer in Sept
  5. I am not having an inner envelope either so I am doing it the same way I did my eparty invites. On the outer envelope I would put the and guest Mr Ryan Jones and guest .if you know they are dating someone serious I would get the guest first and last name Mr. Ryan Jones & Ms. Jen Smith DW's are more intimate and personal and that will make the "and guest" feel part of the group. For the families I am doing Mr.& Mrs. Ryan Jones and Family unless the kids are over 18 and I will be sending them their own invites, even if they still live at home. Hope this helps
  6. Wow sounds like a blast but too intense for me. You def need a plan of action and know what type of dress looks good on you first. Kleinfeld's in NYC is having their huge sample sale on July 22 ( I am pretty sure that is the date) by appt. maybe make it part of your trip
  7. First welcome this forum it is great...second it is a shame how much airfare in the past few months has sky rocketed (no pun intended). And now you even have to pay for your luggage to fly on most airlines. We had a hard time figuring out our date for that 1 reason Jan, Feb, March and April way expensive due to school breaks and flying from cold areas to hot ones increases the price no matter what. I chose May because airfare was 1/2 the price then the other months and it is not (the dreaded word for a DW) Hurricane season yet. I also chose a non holiday weekend (in fact it is the weekend after memorial day) I rather guest use an extra vaca day from work then pay extra $$$. Research when high season is for your island and check weather (National and Local Weather Forecast, Radar, Map and Report) to check for the rainy season and then figure out your date. I have also been in contact with airlines trying to get group rates...or if you are working with a TA they can do that for you.
  8. Thanks for all your support everybody. My FI and I mad it through our first crisis without smoking YEAH!!!Our boat broke down in the middle of the ocean BOO!!! a situation we probably would have smoked a pack while waiting to get towed and we didn't (helped not having any). I decided to start the Chantix pill because I was just not strong enough but it is amazing I suggest it to everyone who is thinking of quitting. I still want to smoke just to fill in the time but it is def getting better and you have all helped again thanks for the support.

  10. Yeah almost $10 a pack isn't that crazy my FI and I were spending average $20 a day on killing ourselves slowly 2 more good reason we are quitting, money and longer lives together
  11. I love the ones that hang on the wall and look like a mirror from the outside they are so functional and things never tangle plus it is a functional mirror
  12. I would stay away from satin as well it is hot and sticky and shows sweat marks. There are some great matte jersey dresses (ex.Oleg Cassini) they pack great no wrinkles and do not make you sweat. Sheer and mesh are breathable fabrics as well but wrinkle a lot when packed but not from just sitting and getting up.
  13. Ok so it has been 5 days since I had a cigarette...yes I am quitting smoking and I hate every second of the day since I made this decision. Is anyone else going through this right now? I decided I did not want to be a smoking and fat bride. So I am quitting smoking so I can breath so I can exercise but all I have done is eat, eat, and eat oh and my new addiction is soda (that's great for the butt). MY FI is working overnight tonight (FDNY) and I want to drive to the store buy a $10 pack of cigarettes smoke them all and lie to his face when he ask if I cheated. If no one sees it does it count? Thanks for listening to me vent and if you have any tips I would appreciate them... me going crazy
  14. Good luck and congrats...there are great people on this site and they all have such amazing ideas I have learned so much in such a short time. I am getting married in Jamaica May 2009, so if you have any questions let me know
  15. First FYI...Kleinfeld's is having their big blow out sale July 22 ( you need an appt.) I first went shopping with my future mother in law, my MOH and 7 year old niece. I went to 3 stores and had enough after the 2nd the first was a waste if time so you might want to set up a trip to more then one shop that day just incase. After all the shopping I ended up going by myself one day and buying my dress on my own after being so confused by opinions. Just stay true to yourself and your personal style. Also in 1385 Broadway btwn 36 & 37 (I think) there are 2 bridal floors that sell designer dresses wholesale and it is open to the public just ask the security desk for a pass and they will tell you which floor to go to. They are showrooms so you get to try on and they are ordered new not like a warehouse of samples.
  16. Where in NY are you? I live in Long Island...I have been looking to take lessons but they are soooo expensive and my FI is in the FDNY so his schedule charges every week so no one would even take us on...PM me with prices and schedule criteria Thanks
  17. Thanks for posting these great ideas and I am now thinking of adding a travel pillow to my plans
  18. Discount Koozies .com - Promotional, Personalized, & Custom! try the above site...they seem affordable and they do less then 100 on certain styles...also try calling direct instead of ordering online and tell them what it is for sometimes they will let you order less then the minimum...worth a try right
  19. I wanted to go see it tonight but my FI is working overnight...can't wait to go now... glad to hear good things
  20. The new all the rage restaurants have entertainment and belly dancing is great for a guys bday. Lucky Changs is much better for a girl's night out. I found the below article look into it it may be fun and for a fun after party Red Rock West (the original Coyote Ugly)is always fun but crowded so don't go if you don't like crowds. Belly-Dancing Restaurants Forget what your mother said: Staring is required when belly dancers are present. Season bites of baba ghannouj with a little shimmy. Le Figaro Café Live music and dancing are the special every Sunday night at this Village coffeehouse. Order a latte, and don’t be shy: Audience participation is encouraged. 184 Bleecker Street; 212-677-1100. 2. Chez Es Saada Dancers snake up and down the rose-petal-strewn staircase at this Moroccan restaurant and lounge each weekend. Our advice: Skip dinner and head straight for the basement bar. 42 East 1st Street; 212-777-5617. 3. Le Souk The male belly dancer is fetching, but the North African food is the true star: The citrus-prune lamb tagine will send you to a state of euphoria. Order a hookah for the table once you clean your plates. 47 Avenue B; 212-777-5454. 4. Tagine Dining Gallery A highlight of Ninth Avenue’s international-food strip, Tagine adds a tummy twirl to every pheasant pie, Thursdays through Saturdays. And there are more types of couscous on the menu than rings on the dancers’ fingers. 537 Ninth Avenue, at 40th Street; 212-564-7292. 5. Turkuaz Thursday night is always a belly-baring party at this West Side hot spot.
