  2. Thanks all for your kind words! I really appreciate it! I just mailed the invitations out this morning. The postage for each invitation was $2.41.

I was afraid to touch it! lol I totally understand. None of the on-line stores had anything I wanted either - they will make custom stuff! Send them a picture and they will give you a price!
  4. Wonderful pictures! I get so excited for my wedding seeing Cecilia Dumas' work! I have booked her to shoot my wedding! Yippeeeee!

So, long story short, my original e-ring is pink topaz, it faded (due to store cleanings), got replaced by the store, but was told it will fade again naturally. (Some of you may remember this drama lol) ANYWAY, I know that I have to find a "replacement" e-ring, so I've been looking around for about 6 months or so. I like pink, hence the pink topaz in my current ring, but I keep hearing how even pink sapphire MIGHT fade if it's had a certain treatment done on it or this or that, and how ultrasonic cleaners will suck out all the colour (not sure how vibrations do that if I'm cleaning it in just water, but w/e) But my big problem was, I'm not a fan of diamond rings (I'm weird, it's okay, you can say it) To me, they're just not "original". That was until I found the ring of my DREAMS!!! I can't find any pictures of it, but it's got a bunch of smaller diamonds clustered together so they look like one big center stone (but WAY more sparkle, it's gorgeous!) and there are baguettes along the center of the band and then pave on the outside of the baguettes. This ring is just gorgeous, and looks MUCH different than anything I've ever seen (I can't even describe it properly, because I've never seen anything else like it in my life). So I absolutely fell in love with this ring, and I just can't take my mind off of it. It is about $1000 more than we wanted to pay for a new ring (considering this is ring #2, and we still have to buy a wedding band) but I just can't stop thinking about it!!! Is there such a thing as THE ring? My experience with finding THE ring was similar to my experience finding THE dress. I saw it, tried it on, and knew it was THE one. My dilemma was I found THE wedding ring at Tiffany for $4k! I did not budget to spend $4K on a ring so I called Tiffany got the specs of the ring and the stones. Then, I contacted several on-line diamond dealers to find out what their price would be to custom make and replicate the Tiffany ring using the same stone grade, metal and setting (Flawless, VVSII, Excellent, 0.50 carats, commpn prong setting, platinum). The lowest price I got was $1,700.00 with a full satisfaction money back guarantee. An afternoon on the phone saved me $2,300! It might be an option for you. FYI - Online vendors I used were Adiamor, Blue Nile and Diamond on Web. Blue Nile was the winner and got my business!

Thanks for all the information you have all provided- you have helped a ton! We are hoping to set our date (once I hear back from Yamina) for April 2010. I have a million questions. I'll start with a couple of basic ones- what is everyone doing about the food at the reception-- I don't really like the 'gold' or 'silver' choices- can you change them out for other options? What about vegetarians? What if you have more than 20 guests? Also has anyone used destinationweddings.com? Thanks! Rachel I'm glad you chose EPM! I, as well as all the brides on this thread, think you made a great choice =0) I too was not happy with the gold or silver choices because I have a lot of picky eaters in my group and 3 vegans. The resort is letting me have my guests pick from 2 options - roulades of beef or salmon. They also forwarded me a vegetariam menu for the vegans - I chose the mushroom risotto! Mmmmmm! Lauren answered your question about the guests - all guests over 20 is an additional $45 which includes cocktail hour, dinner and wedding cake.
  7. Thanks Jewels 336! Lauren - I get responses more quickly from Yamina when I CC Nayeli. Even though Yamina is slow with response times, she is doing a lot of extra stuff for me so I can not complain. She is getting the custom beach towels for my OOT bags from a vendor in Mexico, she got the florist to make me custom centerpieces because I did not like what she had to offer and she is getting me bottles of tequila for favors. Maybe I am taking up all her time and that is why she is not responding to all of you =0)
  8. The corner cutter is key to professional looking STDs. I bought a cheap paper cutter for the straight edges but found cutting them out by hand after making the investment in good, somewhat expensive pair of scissors was better. I do not think you need another color. Your STDs look great!

I sent out STD to about 160 ppl. I'm a little worried, but is there anything I can really do? I can't make people pay their deposits. Any recommendations Dec Brides!? I only have a handful booked at this point too. I am not going to be concerned until 2 months out....
  10. I am a huge fan of the Ritz Carelton! Lucky you that you are getting married there!
  11. Actually, I used sandpaper glued to the bottom of the box to create the beach effect and then glued the shells to the sandpaper.

I forgot to mention that we made a website as soon as we booked the location and sent a link to all the people we were planning to invite via email. All the booking info and destination info was included on the website.

All the same, I do love them.
  15. I sent out STDs in January for our December wedding. I just finished my invitations this weekend and will probably send them out this next week or as soon as my custom postage stamps arrive. I would recommend waiting until a year out to send out any "paper" because people will forget if you send stuff out too soon. We booked our wedding 1.5 years ahead - engaged Dec 07 and booked wedding in May 08. We got the word out about our wedding orally to our close friends and family and waited until the 1 year out mark to send out the STDs - invitations are going out 6 months out and that's only because we need an actual head count.
