  1. I definitely love these invitations! I especially like the little "tips" stamped onto the pages! Too bad when I go to the link it says the template is no longer being shared. (Nooo, it's not fair!!) Nice job though!
  2. Congrats on your STD!! LOL I bet no one has ever said that to you before! I really love them... I think they are perfect for a beach wedding! And thanks for posting the link to the website!
  3. Hi everybody! As of today, I am OFFICIALLY booked at the Moon Palace for 11-12-2009! I just wanted to give a big THANK YOU to all of you MP brides! I have never been to Moon Palace and based my decision based on some of the great reviews I read on here! My guests are becoming increasingly excited about the trip! A few days ago, my mom went to the library to pick up some DW books & when the librarian found out I was getting married at MP she got super excited! She told my mom that she went to a DW there recently and that it was the best wedding she had ever been to! Then, my brother went to apply for his passport, and the clerk told him that his son was married at MP last year and that it was amazing! This really sets my mind at ease that I made a great choice!!!! I asked my WC for info on group rates and her attachment didn't come through properly. Does anyone have the group rate info?? Thanks so much!! Ev
  4. I just heard the news about DT closing..... stay strong DT brides! I heard that if they are still closed at the time of your wedding they will route all guests to Dreams Cancun or Secrets. You will have a beautiful wedding, regardless of which resort you are at, they are all gorgeous!
  5. Andrea, thank you so much for this review! You & your husband look so happy, and it looks like the day went perfectly! I have been looking for an in-depth review like this one, and you put my mind at ease about a lot of the little details. I also loved your sand ceremony idea of having your family members each put a shell in the vase! It probably made each guest feel special & what a wonderful keepsake for you to take home!
  6. Thanks for posting the link to the MP photographers! Their pictures look WAY better than some of the other resort photographers I have seen!
  7. TY for the info! I have been scouring the internet all day and found out that CasaMagna DOES have an AI option but it pretty much doubles the price of the room..... I'm not really sure if we'd go that route since there are so many great restaurants in Cancun. I will have to ask Josefina if they have a photographer... they have photography packages on their carte of services list ranging from $1,000-$2,000. And thanks for the info on the deposit! I can't wait to hear back from Josefina!
  8. Hi ladies, This looks like such a beautiful resort! Nick & I are narrowing down our options and this place looks amazing! (and seems pretty affordable compared to Moon Palace and some of the other resorts). Maybe you guys can answer a few questions for me, since I am waiting for the WC to respond..... - Is this an all-inclusive hotel or no? (I am trying to figure out if the price I was quoted is all-inclusive or not!) - Anyone know who the resort wedding photographer is? I see del Sol Photography gets credit for all of the photos on the brochure and that would be AWESOME!!!!! - When do you have to pay for your wedding package? Thanks, Ev
  9. Oh my gosh, thank you guys for all of the info!!!! One of the threads on here talks about cruisecritic.com and that has been my newest addiction! You guys are right, RCCL weddings have some pretty scary reviews on that site....... and although I'm sure that some people have had amazing beach weddings through them, I'm not very impressed with the wedding photos or the beach locations they offer.... not to mention the headaches some of these girls have gone through!!! SO, I'm thinking that an outside WC is the way to go! (Thanks ladies!) and I'm so happy to hear that other people have booked just the cruise at a group rate (great idea!) and done the wedding stuff separate from the cruise. Now, have any of you sailed to Bahamas or attended any weddings there? I'm sure they have beautiful beaches, but all of the WC I can find online don't look very professional..... Otherwise, can you recommend any WC in other destinations that might be cool to check out? I will go anywhere for a killer beach and a beautiful ceremony set up!!!! Thanks for your help!! I have to say that this is the first time in MONTHS I have been excited about researching wedding stuff!
  10. Hi guys, I can officially say that I am STRESSED OUT with wedding planning! After lots of feedback from our families we have decided to look into cruise weddings. The price is right for the trip, and it's just long enough to spend a few days with our families and then jet off to another destination for our honeymoon. We are looking at a Royal Caribbean Bahamas cruise.... It is $1999 just to have a wedding on the beach (which is what we want)... transportation to the ceremony is $25/per person and then the cake cutting/champagne is $20/pp. They do not include a reception for this price but we are ok with that. We are thinking that we will get married and have a casual reception lunch at a restaurant on the island. We are having 30 people join us for our wedding. I keep thinking that there has to be a cheaper option out there!! I'm not crazy about spending $750 to transport my guests to the beach and another $500 for eating cake!! Have any of you used an outside wedding coordinator and is that allowed by RC?
  11. Thanks for the info! It is nice to see all of the packages compared & that they list out prices for them! We are contacting Royal Caribbean's coordinator, and then we will find out how fast the extra fees add up!
  12. Thanks so much for the review! Your wedding sounds amazing!! It definitely calmed some of my anxiety, esp. because you said you were able to please even your picky guests! Did your pictures with Mango productions come included in the wedding package or did you sign a contract with them separately? Did you do any upgrades for the photo package? (Because 710 pictures sounds awesome!) Which wedding package did you choose? What time was your ceremony? I would LOVE to see pictures of your reception, it sounds lovely!
  13. Wow, that's tough. I agree that if she knew you were getting married 2 years in advance that she had plenty of time to save up for the trip... especially if you are covering $800 worth of expenses!!! (which is EXTREMELY generous, by the way!) I'd say give her a deadline of 1-2 weeks to give you an answer and let her know after that you will have to choose someone else!
  14. I definitely agree with all the great advice on here so far. I can completely sympathize with how you feel. I have been looking in Cabo also, and ideally wanted an AI for 4 nights under $1000.... well, that isn't looking so hot, especially with the plane tickets being so expensive!!! My mom says if she spends $$$ on a trip, they won't be giving us a wedding present. Some of my close friends are not going to be able to afford to make it. Lots of people say they "wish" we'd have it here.... oh, the pressure! Like someone else suggested, we have decided to price out how much a "small" wedding will be here, just to explore all of our options. Already it is looking EXPENSIVE, and I am NOT thrilled about having to go through a different vendor for for flowers, cake, photography, transportation, ceremony and reception.... I totally love the "all you have to do is show up" motto of a destination wedding. One thing I learned to do is stop asking other people for advice. Unless they have been to the resort you pick, they are going to be less than excited (until they get there of course!!). Everyone will have their advice and input, and before you know it, you are everyone's personal travel agent instead of trying to plan the wedding of your dreams. I am sure if you and FI focus on each other and what you want, your family will come around. They might not be happy the day that they book their plane fare, but they will be happy once they see that you had the wedding you wanted. It definitely takes a lot of guts, so be brave and good luck!
  15. Wow that sounds like a great deal with American Airlines! I was doing a ton of research online and I was really mad that American Airlines was charging almost $275 extra in taxes and fees for a $500 flight to Puerto Vallarta. It was WAY more than other airlines!!!!!!! You have to watch out for those hidden fees.
  16. Wow I love the pictures! I bet you are SO excited to have him shoot your wedding now!!!!!
  17. I love your blog, it is so much fun to read! You always have such creative ideas!
  18. I love "I'm Yours" too. I think that song is going to be really popular for weddings this year. I want to use "All You Need Is Love" by the Beatles (but the version on the Love Actually Soundtrack) and I also really love "More Than Words" by Extreme.
  19. Wow, thanks for the amazing opportunity! Whoever wins will be one lucky lady!!
  20. Thanks for posting this! It truly does make me feel better knowing that I am not the only one being pressured to drop the DW idea. Lately my mom has been saying, "Don't you realize how bad our economy is right now? Gas prices might be $6/gallon soon and you want us to buy a plane ticket to MEXICO?" I don't think any of us want our guests to break the bank by coming to the wedding, but parents are kind of on the "must-have-there" list!!! I know it will work out eventually, but I appreciate everyone's feedback!
  21. So, if you are doing a religious ceremony is it considered legal in Mexico? Are the religious and vow renewal ceremonies conducted in English? If anyone knows, that would be great!
  22. Does anyone have a list of extras offered by the RIU Palace (as far as live music, fireworks, etc.)??
  23. Great review! I love the theme and the set-up. I'm so glad that it didn't rain on you!!!
