Teesha's Dreams Tulum Resort and Wedding Review
evtalbot replied to Teesha's topic in Destination Wedding Reviews
Thanks for the review! I love the pictures of you and your hubby! Your colors are the same as mine so I enjoyed looking at your ceremony set-up! I would also like to know where you got your DH's suit and bridesmaid dresses! Congrats! -
Thanks so much for posting your review. I have been waiting for someone to post pics of a beach ceremony! I love your beach set-up and your bouquet! I also had no idea that they did fireworks, how unique is that!!! I really appreciate your detailed account of the wedding, resort and your planning process. Looks like it pays off to be super organized! Congrats!

evtalbot replied to DWandMJ's topic in Destination Wedding Reviews
Thanks for posting your review and congrats! I love your pics on the beach! Do you know where you went for your TTD session? I'd love to know, since I'm bringing my photogs with me and we won't be familiar with the area! -
Welcome to the forum! If you browse through the Riviera Maya thread you will find SO much information about the resorts that are great for weddings! We are getting married in Nov. at Moon Palace and this forum is what helped us make up our mind!

Hi everyone! Wow, I just got home from work and was so surprised to see how many people have commented on this contest! I just want to say a huge THANK YOU to Tammy and Trisha for offering this contest!!!! I think you two ladies are so talented and I feel blessed to have you at my wedding. Now I know there are lots of requests for the story. Here it is: "It means a lot to us to have a small and intimate wedding for one specific reason: this will be the 1st time our two families have ever met. While I have had the opportunity to get to know Nick’s family, and while he is greatly loved by mine, we have never been able to bring our families together because they live in 3 different states. They have been dying to meet each other for the 5 ½ years we have been together, but we can never get everyone in the same place at the same time. When we got engaged, our parents were thrilled. Once the excitement wore off, and the economy started to get worse, each of our parents came to us and told us they could not afford to help us with our wedding. We looked into destination weddings (as this was all we could afford), knowing that our families would need to travel anyway, and chose Moon Palace for our wedding! Our families are on board, and we plan to make the day very personal and special. We are writing our own vows, and plan to incorporate some Asian traditions (since his family is Chinese) while taking advantage of the beautiful surroundings and Mexican culture. To us, our wedding is more than about just us. It is about our two families coming together to celebrate our love. I would be honored if you would choose us to photograph our wedding and capture some of the intimate “relationship†pictures that would tell the story of our special day." I can't wait for the wedding now.... and now I need to start getting sexy for that TTD shoot!

Here's a question to you gals who used an outside photographer: How do you get around the outside vendor policy? I found a photog that I LOVE and he is available for my date. But I don't want to put down a deposit and find out that the resort won't allow him on the premises! The policy states: Outside vendor services (photography, florists, décor companies, audio visual companies, entertainers, etc.) are not permitted on premises. Palace Resorts will provide our couples with a variety of in-house services to choose from. Can you give me some tips on how to get around this? Do I need to pretend he's my long lost uncle or something? LOL

Hi everybody! I thought I would comment on Jodimichelle's questions because I JUST met with a TA and had all of my questions answered. I think going through a TA is a great choice for a few reasons: They are the point of contact for your guests. They can research and find them the best rates available, customize the trip, and best of all, if there is a problem, your guest can call the TA and not make it your problem (For example, if their flight gets cancelled, your TA can fix it). Our TA is compiling an excel spreadsheet of all of the dates our guests are travelling, and she will give this to us so we know when we can expect everyone. In order to get the free cocktail hour or reception, you HAVE to sign a group contract directly with Moon Palace. (That means people who book on Travelocity aren't part of the group). I'll see if I can attach the group rates I received from the resort. You can still use a TA if you do this. The hotel gives the TA a link and group # to book through. My TA says it is a wonderful option, not only for the free perks, but because all of your guests will get booked on the same side of the resort (There are over 2,000 rooms so it's gotta be huge). They will also be recognized as a "wedding group" and *might* get some free room upgrades. They expect you to pay for you and your fiance's room in order to secure a block of rooms! Hope this helps! Calling all November 2009 Brides!
evtalbot replied to beachbride2009's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
Hi everybody! Another November 2009 bride here! I’m glad I found you girls. I am getting married Nov 12, 09 at Moon Palace in Cancun! We are so excited, and we took almost 6 months nailing down the perfect resort and confirming a date that worked for everyone. So far we have: -reserved our wedding date/time with MP -Rings bought -asked BM and GM (who have all accepted) -created a wedding website (which still has no details on it) BUT…. It seems like the list of to-do’s is never ending. -We have to book our trip!! -Send out STDs -I still need to find my dress! I have been engaged for 7 months and haven’t gone looking once yet! I just loathe dress shopping in general….. -Find a tan suit for FH -Find BM and GM outfits -Make or find affordable Passport Invitations -Nail down a travel agent and get the word out to my guests who want to book! -Engagement pics Can someone hand me a paper bag please.... I start hyperventilating thinking about all this stuff! I also want to make some awesome OOT bags, programs and place cards. Here is my QUESTION to you ladies: If invite goes out 6 months prior to the wedding, are you having them RSVP? What is your RSVP deadline?? Congrats everyone! Evelyn -

Absolutely beautiful pictures! I am in love with your hairstyle, the flowers add such tropical touch vs. the veil. I might have to copy that idea.... -
ROR review 1/5/09 *long w/ pics
evtalbot replied to Bride010101's topic in Destination Wedding Reviews
Thanks for the review! You look so beautiful! Interesting comments on Carlson Wagonlit Travel. I met with someone from that company when I was trying to figure out my destination. Something just didn't seem right with them. She said they charge $250 to "plan" your wedding and communicate with the resort, which you can easily do yourself. Every time I tried to call or e-mail her a question, she was out of office for several days. PLUS, she told me that they don't like to book the RIU, which is what I really wanted, and tried to convince me that everyone has problems doing group bookings with them!!! Needless to say, I am not using them. -
Welcome to the forum! Great choice on PV, you are going to have an awesome time there!

Welcome to the forum! I did a lot of research on PV before deciding on Cancun. The PV forum is so helpful! Just pick a resort with a cute gazebo in case it rains and you'll be ok! (RIU Jalisco has a GORGEOUS one!)

Congrats and welcome to the forum! I am getting married in Cancun on 11-12-09! There are so many great resorts to choose from! Let me know if I can help!

Review of Moon Palace Wedding on 11/1/08
evtalbot replied to amduran's topic in Destination Wedding Reviews
Thanks so much for the great review! It sounds like you had an amazing wedding and you looked so pretty! My wedding date is 11-12-09 so it is right around the same time next yr. I really appreciated your honest opinion about the photographers at the resort. That is one of the things I am most nervous about! I have a couple questions: -Which wedding package did you choose? (or did you add everything a la carte) -How was your minister? Could you understand him? -During the time you were there, was the weather overall sunny or lots of rain? Congrats on your marriage, I bet you wish you were still there! Evelyn -
Hi Camie, Thanks for the info ~ there are so many pages for the MP forum that it's hard to find things on here! I'm going to see if I can find any pics on Tripadvisor of the restaurants you mentioned. I grew up in St. Paul, lived in Mpls during college and now we're in Bloomington (the same suburb that the Mall of America is in). That's interesting that you moved to TX! We might be moving there too, eventually. Nick's parents moved to Austin 2 years ago and we love visiting them. You'll be happy to be down there today.....we had freezing rain all day yesterday and woke up to two inches of snow this morning!

Hi everyone! I have a question to those of you who have visited MP already: What restaurant would you recommend for a reception dinner of approx. 25-35 people? We started out wanting a private reception, but since we are not having as many people as we thought we would, we are thinking about just having our dinner in the restaurant since it is INCLUDED in the package! Are there any restaurants with outside seating overlooking the ocean? Which restaurant has the best food? I see lots of people commenting on Terrace Venado, but I believe that is a private reception area, right? Evelyn
