Thanks for the warm welcome! I have found this site to be so helpful so far! We've narrowed it down to Puerto Vallarta and Punta Cana DR. I'd love to hear of everyone's experiences in these locations!
  2. Wow, thanks for sharing this website. I had questions about weather and this gave me more than enough info on that and the entire PV area: Puerto Vallarta & Banderas Bay Travel Magazine - PVMirror.com Puerto Vallarta, Mexico hotel tours weather map vacation hotels reservations restaurants travel real estate rentals
  3. Thanks for the info! We are planning our wedding for May/June 09 so definitely have time to check that out!
  4. Ohh Barbados sounds exciting! Good luck and happy planning!
  5. Congratulations! Punta Cana was one of our top choices also! The beaches there look amazing!
  6. Congratulations Lauren! Your pictures are stunning!

    Hi,

Congratulations on your engagement! Welcome to the forum. You'll find lots of great stuff on here!
  8. YAY Erica and Sy! I'm glad you finally made it on the site! I've found lots of good stuff on here. Now if I can just narrow down all of the diff. options!
  9. It has only been 1 month since my FH and I have been engaged. We already knew we wanted a destination wedding and told both sides of the family. I immediately fell in love with Rio Ochos Rios - Jamaica and than FIML and FFIL said they will not come to Jamaica. Back to the drawing board! Now I have both sides of the family doing "research" on resorts and picking things I am not interested in. They also see some of the resorts are listed at $500/night and call me to tell me that we need to just have our wedding at home. I am hoping that travel agents will be able to offer better packages than that! Did most of you ladies use travel agents to book your trip and accomodations for your guests? How much do you have to pay a travel agent to arrange travel for your entire wedding party?
  10. Thank you ladies!!!! I showed this to FH and he finally realizes that we are not the only couple doing this! It is also great to hear from those of you who had private receptions and didnt think it was worth the extra $$$!
  11. Congrats on your weight loss, ladies! I have been thinking about joining WW.... I hear mixed reviews from people who have tried it.... but your results are very encouraging! Definitely have about 30# to lose before the big day....
  12. My FH and I are arguing about whether or not it looks "cheap" to have our wedding reception in one of the restaurants at the all-inclusive hotel. This would save us A LOT of money, since the food is already included in our guest's stay. (They don't have to be alerted to this fact, however!) We plan on adding a DJ and have our cake-cutting there. Our guests are planning for a 3 or 4 night stay so they may or may not eat at that restaurant during the rest of their stay. Please help!
  13. Hi Cruise Brides! My FH and I are also considering getting married on a cruise. You can choose a shorter cruise if you do not want to be with your guests for an extended period of time. On the cruises I have been on, there are so many activities that you do not need to entertain your guests very much. Cost is the biggest advantage. Some of the cruises I found were less than $500 per person! Airfare will also be cheaper because you are flying to a U.S. destination. My biggest concern is the cost of the wedding package? Also, I heard that Princess Cruises are the only ships that allow the captain to marry you, otherwise you have to get married in one of the ports. Will the wedding coordinator help you with that? It sounds stressful!
  14. Thanks for the pictures! I love the view from Evita's! It looks like your guests were having a great time! You and your new husband look so happy!
  15. I am also in the same situation as you! My FH are trying to come up with a rough figure that each of our guests will need to pay, but it's hard to do that with no airfare prices! My travel agent told me that prices will be available in May or June! How soon after you book the hotel do you have to pay in full for your wedding?
  16. It sounds like you can find some inexpensive excursions if you look outside of your resort. I'm sure guests would love a welcome bag, but they will remember an amazing experience more than anything! It is also a great way to bring your group together, especially if some of your guests don't know each other. Good luck!
  17. Thanks for the info everyone! Dragonfly, I think the ATV excursion sounds like a great trip too! How far are the underground caves from the resort? I dont think my guests would appreciate the long trek out to Saona island only to find 1 starfish!
