For those of you interested in a poolside reception, I have more information from Chandlyn.. You can have a pool side reception after your dinner in a restaurant..The Poolside offers a set up of tables and chairs, lights and candles at a cost of US 5 per person. Open bar comes at a cost of US10 persons. This is available from 6:30pm -10:30pm. The DJ is at an additional cost of US 150 per hour. Does anyone know if there is more than one DJ?! Or if there is a place to set up a cd player or IPOD around the pool? I guess I should have asked Chandlyn about this.... Im assuming if they can get a cd player on the beach for the ceremony, they will be able to set up a cd by the pool....

Valaria is in Mexico...i had this mixed up prior to all my wedding arrangements and I had to figure out who everyone was and where they were actually located... Although, Valaria's emails were not informative to me, they would always just state that Chandlyn would contact me 2-3 months ahead of my wedding...no extra info...

We decided not have a videographer, I agree with Davematthews16...we will look at the pictures a lot more than the video..and with the pics that we take we can make into our own video later on....

Jill, do you know if they will set that all up for us if we are NOT going to have dinner there? I wonder if thats do-able and how much that would be....Haha too bad my wedding wasnt a day after yours so I could see how yours looked from afar!!! I guess you can do that for yourself, if I am able to have something set up by the pool without having the dinner...

those are perfect! we arent planning on having a lot in our bags, so I dont want to use a large bag!!

Does anyone know if its possible to not have dinner beside the pool but to have a reception area set up afterwards there so we can still do dancing there and drink?

Just heard back from Chandlyn, (I wrote this in another thread too) that after booking my dinner at Mammee, and then finding out that I could not book out the Seagrape because its already book, Chandlyn said we could do a reception by the pool or at the disco.......so that makes me think that you can set something up by the pool and not have the dinner...I am going to investigate this more!!!

My wedding is in April 09, and I recently tried to book for my reception location and it was already booked....so that kind of gives you an idea of how far maybe you should book for the reception.Also, I tried to book thru Chandlyn, but got nowhere and got a response that she will talk to me 2 months before my wedding. I got my TA is call to book our dinner at Mammee and I tried for the Seagrape but it was already booked.....so now onto plan B for me!!! (Which i dont know what that is, I think see if a poolside reception can be set up WITHOUT having a dinner)

The Seagrape is already booked out for my wedding day, so after our dinner at Mammee, Chandlyn said we can rent the disco or have a poolside reception....I thought I would check around here before asking her more info on the poolside reception...We arent planning on having dinner around the pool but more a place where we can sit around and drink if we want, have our first dance, etc.....We dont want to do the disco because we don't overly have that many people going and the people that arent going are more on the elder side that wouldnt be into the dancing as much...But I was wondering if a bar was set up outside around the pool so we could have a little reception type deal? I do think it would be pretty with the lights and all, and plus I have to work with what I have got so its either poolside (if we can have something without the dinner) or nothing at all....Anyone know more info about this?

Ya, I have made some in the past before. I just didnt know if the wedding dvd was different- like anything extra special in there that would make me want to consider paying them to do it over myself making one later on... ill save the money and create my own then!

I have heard great things about the wedding dvd that you can buy from the Riu, but I am wondering if it is something that I can do myself at home on the computer (put our pics to our own music). I wonder if its possible for someone to upload their dvd (I dont even know if its possible in the first place!!!) so that others can see it and that will give people a better idea on what to expect and whether or not to budget for it.. Does anyone know if you can upload it to the computer?!? And if its possible is anyone willing to show theirs?

that is crazy considering the amount of rooms that the riu has...altho, there is ALOT of bdw brides gettin married in january and if ppl are having like 100 ppl weddings, i can see it filliing up quickly...but ya, i heard something about april being pretty full too already!
