  1. I got my birthcertificate and passport notarized and just scanned them to Chandlyn...she said it was fine..however she also wanted to know our occupations? did she ask anyone else this too?
  2. We sent out a letter to everyone that we wanted to have at our destination wedding. We are getting married in April 2009 as well and we sent out our letter invites in May 2008. In the letter we just said that we are going away to get married, where, how much it would be for people to go, who to contact if interested and that we will be having an at home reception later on when we get back as well. Our at home reception will be at the end of May and I will be sending out invites for those probably mid-late Feb. Those invites say that we are getting about to get married and would love for people to join us when we return to celebrate, where we are havin the reception, time, etc. I am sending those invites out to everyone that i sent a letter invite to, whether they are able to come to our destintation wedding or not...plus sending it out to all those other people that we did not invite to the actual wedding.. I think we ended up inviting 60 to Jamaica with us and about 32 are coming. We totally thought that it would be like 10 of us...but you will be surprised at what people want to do! And we are inviting another 40 people to our at home reception to make it 100.. Hope that helps!
  3. We found DIY ones at Michaels that had a tropical theme- Martha Stewart... But that was before the summer and I havent seen them in Michaels since. They were super cheap!
  4. lol way to go chicklet! lol jk....but i understand, i was worried about it to for a minute but then read that tons of other brides were ok with the short version and they still got married!!! im just worrying about who is going to notarize our stuff! ugh, such a hassle, esp since we recently moved and no longer have a lawyer!!
  5. We arent doing the long birth certificates. It doesnt say on the website that it has to be long, and some people have already stated that the short birth certificate is fine... Such a hassel and a lot of money to order the long version, not to mention how long it will take to get to you!

  9. We are getting married April 21st 2009 in Jamaica and coming back home from our honeymoon May 2nd..We are having our AHR May 30th... I am not too sure when to send out invites for this...I would kind of like to know a rough estimate of who is coming before I go away on our wedding/honeymoon. Also I would like to have some time to be able to call people and ask them if they are planning on attending after not receiving the rsvp....I dont want to wait until May to do this! When do you think I should send out in the invites and what should the rsvp date be?! Thanks for your help ladies!
  10. We are doing a poolside reception, thats an idea....or you can also have a beach reception at the Seagrape bar.. We dont have a lot of people that are huge dancers...and we have a lot of elder people going and I heard that there really isnt proper seating in the disco, so for us the disco wasnt the best option... Also, remember once 11pm comes along, anyone at the resort is welcome to come on into the disco! When are you getting married in April? So are we! We will be there April 18-25th..
  11. I live in a large city...so there are all kinds of stores! But the problem is my hometown is a small city and thats where I am going to be having my showers, and the majority of the ppl attending the showers are from there..so that kinda sucks! I dont want to register at a large store and have them have to drive an hour just to go to the store... I wish they had more stores cause I love Home Sense and Home Outfitters... All that is pretty much there is a Zellers, Walmart, Sears, Canadian Tire, Rona, maybe a Home Depot? and alot of small home businesses.... I will definately check out Home Depot or Rona...thanks for all your help!!! Has anyone registered at Walmart before? Any experiences?! At least I know I will have a good experience with Sears...
  12. With so many stores closing, I dont know where to register..We are for sure going to register at Sears but dont know where else to register. We wanted to do Canadian tire, but most of the stores around here don't do the bridal registry anymore. There isnt a Hudson Bay around the area either!! Where else would be a good place to register?! Walmart? (I heard they have a crappy register system for when people go to buy things..you have to look individually at all the codes to find the right product that the bride/groom picked) Any suggestions fellow Canadians?

  16. I didnt know we were suppose to do gifts either until this forum!!! So I asked my FH about it and he didnt know either, so we decided not to give each other gifts....i have seen though that many brides are making those BD photo books for their FH and all the FH seem to love them!
  17. We are getting married away in April and then having a very casual party at a restaurant at the end of May. We arent having a plated dinner or anything, just apps and drinks..striving for very causal!!!! Do I need to have favors for everyone?! We are giving away oot bags and favors for those that are coming to Jamaica for us, but I really dont know if I need favors too for our celebration party. Yah or nah?

Ohh, I guess the free shuttle is only with your package if you got one, in which our is Sunquest and the shuttle is included both to the Riu and back to the airport...

  20. Hey..Im getting married at ROR and then honeymooning at Couples Negril.... I was worried about this, but researched my options... 1) You can take a private cab/taxis from ROR to the RIU in Negril...I got a quote from Lees Travel- who apparently from many brides comes very recommended...She quoted me around $100. The distance between to two locations is about 3 hours or so...but you and your husband would be able to sit comfortably in an air conditioned cab alone and not have to worry about stopping if you didnt want to.. If you would like to contact Lees Travel, the number is somewhere within this forum you just have to search for it...She was very very friendly and responded back quickly to my email request not only with an email herself but also a phone call.. 2) The other option is to head back to the airport and then catch the free shuttle from the airport to the RIU Negril...This is what we are going because its free, and also we are able to go back to the airport with our guests and say goodbye to them there.... My travel agent said that she would coordinate the times to as when the guests will have to leave and when there is a shuttle going to the other resort for us so that it sort of matches up.... Hope this helps!

  22. I am going with the free package and that doesnt include any pictures so I will contact Michael myself for photographs..I definately want pictures on a cd that way we can print off whatever ones we want whatever size...plus, I dont want to be lugging around pictures the whole time!!!
