  1. from another RMB bride! Yeah! there are more and more of us each day. There is lots of RMB info in the Jamaica area...but if ou don't see what you are looking for, just ask someone might already have it.
  2. I haven't had time to tie my shoes lately, as this is the begining of the crazy season at my shop...so I haven't been on here much. But I just had to share my minor freak out. I just looked at a ticker I had on my desktop and it says 99 days until we leave for Jamaica!! I can't believe I hit double digits. OMG! I still have stuff to do and NO time until after Christmas season is over. I still have to: get joels ring have my wedding band sized pick out the fabric for my dress find pants for Joel to match his ceremony shirt get all the paperwork, get it noterized, and mailed aahhhhhh! freak out time! OK...just breath deep. Thanks for listening to me freak out.
  3. Thanks for the info!! I didn't get the price list...was that seperate?
  4. User Name: Lilpaisley Name: Kris & Joel Location: Riu Montego Bay Wedding: Feb 28, 2009 in JA: 02/26/09 to 03/03/09
  5. I picked Feb for 2 reasons. First, like others have said I wanted a wedding somewhere warm when the weather here in Seattle was cold. It will be so nice to go from gloomy gray Seattle to warm and sunny Jamaica. Second, I own a small boutique and there is no way I can take a week+ off between Sept and Dec. I thought about Jan, but ended up picking Feb so I had all of Jan to do just wedding stuff; because I won't have much time between Thanksgiving and Xmas. I just hope this year's economy doesn't hurt Xmas season too much, because I live allot of the year off those sales.
  6. I have been going back and forth on the hair style myself. I generally wear my hair down, and I know FI likes long hair...but I've been to Jamaica before and know that my naturally wavy hair gets a little crazy in that weather. I think I've finally settled on a style like this. I love the viel under the bun and I really want to wear a flower.
  7. I saw this posting on Tripadvisor:Negril forum: wedding - TripAdvisor Now I know that on TA you have to take all Riu related postings with a grain of salt (don't understand why they have so many Riu haters on that board)...but I just want to make sure that this isn't true. All the docs on Riu's website still say the flowers are incl...etc...so I tend to not believe this posting, but just wanted to see if anyone else had heard this. I posted a response to saying I thought it was false...hope I didn't speak too quickly.
  8. Trina, I think it's a good idea to get married over the holiday. Allot of people will have the extra day off and won't have to use a vacation day to attend your wedding. Plus in the future you will have a holiday weekend (and a great one) to celbrate your anniversary. I used similar thinking when I picked our date...I thought how cool it is that every 4 years we will have an extra day to celebrate our anniv!
  9. Just wanted to give a quick thanks to all who voted for me and Jean-Marcus...and to bump this to say that voting ends on 10/13...so if you have a few minutes we would appriciate a quick vote if you haven't done so already. Lil' Paisley's in Seattle - Best of Western Washington - Seattle
  10. I booked my wedding way back in May, before the resort opened...so maybe that is how I was able to slip it through. When I filled out the online application it wouldn't let me choose the 28th as an option (because of the 2 day rule), so I just added a note to the booking request about the 28th. I got an e-mail back from Arlett Santos letting me know there was a spot on the 28th. (I did state in my app that I knew the law was 24hrs). I took it and finialized the confirmation. My TA was ready to do battle for me...but I ended up not needing it. Maybe Kenieka is more strict on the rules than the person I e-mailed w/ before the resort opened.
  11. So, everyone that has the P90X...FI and I are really thinking about getting this set. But I'm a little confused. On the website there is P90X, P90, and P90X+. Are you all talking about the P90X? Or is it better to start with the P90? Basically we are looking for something we can do together most of the time. He was a gym rat previously and likes the weights (he just turned 40 and misses his 20-something body)...I lean more towards classes. This set seems like a good balance between the 2. We are both both looking to loose weight, just tone up for the trip. We have just over 4 months. Everywhere I look this set gets great reviews.
  12. I asume you are talking about the areas in general and not a specific resorts. I have been to Jamaica 3 times already and my wedding will be my 4th. I haven't been to Negril, so I can't speak to much about that area, but it is the area known for the best beaches and being more of a laid back area. Montego Bay seems to be the most well known of the tourist areas. It has what is called the 'hip strip' of clubs and shopping. It also has some of the great historical attractions like Rose Hall. It is close to the airport and the drive to the resort will be short. The plane noise bothers some people (depends on the resort)...but I kind of liked it. Everytime a plane went over all I could think of was how glad I wasn't on it Ocho Rios falls stlightly in between MoBay and Negril. Allot of the cruise ships use this area as the port (some do use MoBay) and it can get crazy and crowded when they are in port. It has great beaches and still has some fun night llife and attractions. It's close to Dunns river and Shaw park. If you want relaxation and great beaches...I think your best bet is Negril.
  13. My sister and her husband made a 1st anniv baby on thier trip to St Thomas. They had a DW in Yosemite and took the 'honeymoon' trip for thier 1st anniv instead. Funny thing is she is due right around my wedding. It's a good thing FI and I decided to elope, because now we wouldn't have a wedding party.
  14. Thanks Guys. Joel was thinking about a black Tungsten or Titanium band. We are going to go to a few jewelry shops so he can try on styles to see what he likes (sshh they don't need to know I won't buy from them)...he doesn't know how wide, if he wants a stone, etc. Then I will buy it wholesale. I have a wholesale account with a few jewelry supply companies, so I can get them allot cheaper. He already wears a stainless steel band I bought him (people think we are already married when they see it). I want to upgrade that ring to something really nice. What do your Guys have?
  15. Yeah!! I just won the auction for what I hope will be my wedding band. My Engagement ring is a 1920/1930s filigree estate ring. I was having the hardest time finding a wedding band. Stright bands didn't look right with the ring, so I had to hunt down a ring with a bend in it. There are few that are sold sperately as most come with an engagement ring...but I finally found one! I thought I was going to have to make one. But I got lucky and got it for a steal! woohoo! anyway, here is the engagement ring Here is the band I just won: That was the one thing I was stressing on, so now I have to find Joel a ring
  16. Just like Jean-Marcus in his thread: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t29766 My shop has been nominated for the Best of Western Washington. I would love to win this. Wouldn't it be awesome to have 2 BDW winners!! Anyway, please vote for my shop here: Lil' Paisley's in Seattle - Best of Western Washington - Seattle I've came in 2nd to the Pretty Parlor in 2007 in a NWsource People's Choice awards...so this time I'd really love to come in 1st. So please, yes I'm begging, help Jean-Marcus and I take top prize. An please pass along the links to anyone who would love to vote for us! Thanks tons! Kris
  17. Too Faced also makes a Polymar mascara called Lash Injection. It is carried at Sephora and Ulta. I have been so tempted to try it. I normally wear flash eyelashes and don't really wear mascara. About 10 years ago I had a flake of mascara get under my contact lens and imbed itself in my eye. I had to go to the eye doctor who had to use a microscope to get it out...and I couldn't wear a contact in that eye for about a week. As a result I've been a little mascara paranoid. This polymar mascara is supposed to create these "tubes" around your lashes and not flake...so I've been really thinking about it. Looks like Sephora carries a small sample tube for less than $10. I might have to get over my fear and give it a try. Anyone else tried the Too Faced version? Sephora: Too Faced Lash Injection: Mascara
  18. Ok, here is the conact info I was able to get from the Riu forum. Hopefully one of these will work: Tel: +1 876 940 8010 Fax: +1 876 940 8015 [email protected] [email protected]
  19. I don't have the e-mail anymore, so I don't know what address I sent it to. I belong to another forum that is just for Riu hotels...so I posted asking for a better e-mail address or an idea on how to get a map. There are about 4 or 5 people on that forum that will be going late Oct early Nov...so if needed I know they will bring one back for us, but I'm hoping to get one sooner.
  20. Before I started dating my FI, I dated a guy that lived 50% of the time in Zurich, Switzerland...so I got to travel to Europe allot. I've used Eurorail and flown on Ryanair and Berlin air, etc. Personally the train is the way to go. One of my favorite memories was the train ride from Zurich to Amsterdam through Germany up the Rhine. OMG it was beautiful. I would have missed so much by flying. Also sometimes the train trip itself can be a ton of fun. I'm the kind of person who will talk to the people sitting next to me...and have meet and partied with some fantastic people. I know allot of people think he's kinda strange...but one of the best places to get Eurail info is Rick Steves Europe Through the Back Door. I bought my tickets at his place and was able to return the ones I didn't use! I wasn't even aware you could do that. Also, he used to have a special that you got a free travel book or DVD if you bought your passes through him.
  21. I might be interested in this stuff for our AHR. (everything, but the dress). Let me know how much shipping would be and I can Paypal it to you.
  22. When you are renting the open bar you are not paying for the booze, you are paying for the bartender. It is likely a bar that they would not normally be staffed and you are paying to have a bartender there. Its hard to say if it is worth it as we are not yet familar with the resort layout and don't really have a good idea how far a bar will be to the reception area yet. I wrote the front desk an e-mail asking for a resort map...but they didn't have one they could send me by e-mail. They did have one they could fax me, but I don't have a fax machine...so that didn't work. If anyone has access to a fax that can receive the map it would be great if you could get a copy of that from them and scan and post it here so we can try to figure it out.
  23. I think you are talking about this doc. If it's not the right one let me know and I'll see if I can find the right one. Riu EXTRAS OR OPTIONAL SERVICES.doc
  24. I was lucky and found a small travel steamer at Goodwill for $2. I tried it on a bunch of different dresses at home and it works great. It's not to big, so I'm going to throw it in my suitcase just incase I need it. I'm to paranoid to send my dress somewhere off resort. I think I've also seen the travel steamers at target...so you mgiht have good luck finding one there.
