  1. I think I got another thing off my list. I found a shirt on EBay that Joel loved. It hasn't arrived yet...so we may change our mind once we see it in person...but at least it's a start. I'm not sure about the scorpions, but Joel loved them.
  2. I am also a RMB bride. I was the 1st one on this board...but now there are a few more floating around. It'll be great to all share info.
  3. Thanks so much for posting those docs! If you get more info on the flowers and photos, be sure to let us know! I am check Trip Advisor daily waiting for the first reviews and pics to be posted.
  4. Indigo, I'd love to hear about any info you get fromthe RMB WC. I haven't written them yet, so I'd love to see it. I did hear from the front desk and ask for a resort map They said they could fax it, but I don't have a fax machine.
  5. Wow, less than 6 months ladies...I can't wait!! We are eloping, so I don't have much to do. I have been talking with the person making my dress and the design has been finalized. I should have the muslin version in Nov or Dec...then I get to pic the fabric for the real version. These are the things we still have to do: Get wedding bands find Joel's clothes Get my accessories (want to wait till I pic my fabric) I can't believe it's coming so quickly.
  6. The Riu Montego Bay opened today! They were delayed one day due to the airports being closed for Gustav, but the resort opens for guests today. Hopefullly soon we will have pics and reviews. I feel like the hotel cheerleader, but I know there are other RMB brides that would like to know. JamaicaTripper Travel News: Riu Montego Bay Opens
  7. If the ROR has any info on the new Riu Montetgo Bay (resort map, pics, etc) I'd love to see something. The resort opens today!!! I wrote the hotel and they can fax it to me, but I don't have a fax machine. Thanks!!
  8. !! Have you picked a resort yet? I'm getting married in Montego Bay in Feb. Our wedding will be Feb 28 at the Riu Montego Bay. I can't wait. Just about 6 months to go!!
  9. I'm able to log on to our ewedding site just fine. What is the problem you are having?
  10. I've thought about starting a RMB date thread many times. I'd be happy to do so and keep track if you guys think we should. Indigo - you may be the 1st on on BDW...but you'll not be the 1st one at the resort.
  11. Yes, toothpaste can work, but it is an abrasive...so if your item has a high polish on it, you can scratch the polish.
  12. ExcitedJ, Don't worry about us. We have Tripadvisor reviews and pics to keep us satisfied until it's our time. My sister just went to St Thomas and St John for her 1st anniv w/ her DH. They had a fab time and ended up making an anniv trip baby. I've also been to St Thomas and loved it, but I was only there a short time on a dive boat trip. Have a fab time and we still want a full report w/ pics when you get back
  13. I own a vintage jewelry store and I can tell you I have seen many items that were tarnished beyond what you would think was savable come back to life with a little elbow grease. I don't know much about David Yurman in particular, but there are many modern jewelry companies that are now coating their metals in an anti-tarnish. You used to see this coating allot in the 60s and 70s on copper jewelry pieces like those by Renoir Matisse. This is why you don’t want to use a jewelry cleaner on the items, just a sofy polishing cloth. The cleaner damages the coating making it look worse than before. I also not a big fan of most of those jewelry cleaners that they sell in Dept. stores and places like Kays, Zale, etc. Allot of those cleaners are very toxic, and in my opinion too harsh. If you like the dip cleaners make sure it is a pearl safe cleaner like Jewel Brite. If it’s not pearl safe…don’t bother. Now on to your necklace. The one over the counter thing you might try is Tarn-X. You can get it at most grocery store and places like Target. I use this in my shop on the heavily tarnished pieces with allot of luck. Read the instructions and make sure to wear gloves. Don’t use it if you pieces has any stones, enamel work, or artificially oxidized silver. If tarn-X won’t work for you, then try a silver paste polish. You’ll need allot of elbow grease for this method, but I have put a felt polishing wheel on my Dremel and used it with the paste with a light touch (caution, you can cause polish marks with this method if not careful). If you want to send me a pic of the piece I might be able to get a better idea of what is going on and have some more suggestions. I'm kris at lilpaisley dot com

Wow I bet you are starting to get excited.
  19. I was able to get my hands on a few onsite pictures of the resort from the Riu Montego Bay sales team. The pics are from mid July. It really does look very close to opening in these pics...and should hopefully put any fears other RMB brides have to rest. Enjoy (and yes...I know I'm obsessed) Room Building Pool Beach

    Hello

    fellow Montego Bay bride!!
  21. This is not wedding related in any form, but I am just so devistated about this that I had to post something. I know some of you might think it's strange, but Monstero means allot to me. Some friends of mine own a famous art car named Monstero. It has been featured on TV shows, in parades, etc. This car is a part of my history and through it I have been able to attend some amazing events that I would have not otherwise been able to participate in. Well yesterday, Montero was a victim of arson. He was a complete loss. This car was the work of many talented artists and had many, many hours of blood, sweat, and love put into him. I am at such a loss as to why someone would destroy someone else's art work and personal property. Here are some pics of what Monstero looked like, so you can see how much work was put into him. He is made from steel on top of an old Mistubishi Montero. Here is a newspaper article about the fire. I just can't believe it. How could someone do this...
  22. The Riu Montwego Bay opens at the end of the month...so no one has had a wedding there yet, but there are a few of us who have already booked RMB. I was thinking of starting a RMB date thread just like the ROR thread. Which Riu: Montego Bay Wedding Date:Feb 28, 2009 Strongest competitor(other resort): Dreams PV or Villamanga Deciding factor: Got an unbelievable 'opening soon' deal...and I really wanted to go to Jamaica (paperwork is SO much easier)
  23. I'm in the same situation and have been wondering the same thing. Joel gets ready pretty quick...so I was going to have him grett ready first and they go have a drink or something. I was thinking of asking the WC for help on this.
  24. Most of them I got from links from this site: The official visitors guide to Montego Bay, Jamaica I think I might look into the Pirate Cruise. Let me know if get any info from them.
