  1. Love the article. Thanks Yael! I think the reason we all bond on here so much is not only are brides in a different mind-set than the rest of the population, but destination brides are kind of the "outcasts" of the bridal world. We get criticized for making guests spend too much money, being selfish, etc. So not only do the BDW members help with wedding planning, but they get why we want to get married away somewhere. My best friend got married two months after me and we barely talked about our weddings to each other because we just couldn't relate to each other. Thank goodness for BDWers!

It's definitely worth the shot. Just so you're aware, post-dating checks is actually illegal. When I worked in banking and had to deal with overdrafts, people would constantly complain to me that the check should never have been cashed because it was post-dated. Sorry, but once you write that check, you're stating that the money is available in your account. Tellers look at the date to make sure the check is still valid (some checks state that they are only good for a certain number of days), but don't care if the date is in the future. Just wanted to let you know that so you don't ever get caught up in that.
  3. I agree that there is something about the shell that doesn't look right, but other than that, it's great!
  4. Pretty cool! My SIL won her wedding dress from Kleinfeld's. theKnot.com ran a contest along with Mr. Coffee for 3 years. She was SO lucky!
  5. Woo hoo! Thanks for being so awesome girls!
  6. I think people forget that not every little thing is a requirement. No one even did STDs until like 5 years ago. I sent my invitations out in July for my May wedding. I was putting way too much work into them to have them just be a formality. I personally do not care for STDs.

  8. Anytime! Has anyone searched for recipes specific to this plan? I know in the deluxe version you can get them, but I'm wondering if there are any good blogs or anything out there (other than this awesome thread!).

My mom was so upset at the idea of a TTD session, but she was much better once it sounded like the purpose wasn't to ruin the dress. I used my real wedding dress and it's perfectly fine now. (She loves the pics by the way.) I also agree with others who have said to just stop telling details.
  10. I like the idea of going for 2 weeks and changing up the resort. Enjoy your honeymoon. This only happens once!
  11. Nothing better than beautiful pictures and an even more beautiful bride!
  12. Just because a photographer is in an exotic location does not mean that he or she gets a vacation. They're working! The best thing I ever did was enter a BDW contest for free photography and videography. I love my pictures so much and it saved me a ton of money! Get those entries in ladies!
  13. They're nice to have, but I definitely don't think they're necessary. We didn't have them taken and I don't feel like I missed out on anything. If they were free, yeah, I'd do them, but I wouldn't be super disappointed if I didn't get to take them.
  14. You girls are doing so great! I hate how I can't start this yet! So frustrating! You're definitely keeping me motivated to start and I'm going to have some great ideas of what to eat on this plan. Thanks!!
  15. I had a solo steel drum player. It was the perfect background music for the beach. I'd be afraid it'd be hard to hear the violinist and a 4 piece band seems like a bit much for the ceremony.
  16. A League of Their Own : Tom Hanks
  17. I haven't been welcomed on this forum in a long time. Thanks! You should buy your man the donut tomorrow and give it to him on Saturday, just in case. I know a day old donut isn't the same, but it's better than not having it at all. And if they have the blueberry one on Saturday, then he can have two!
  18. There are obviously some major trust issues. He doesn't trust his wife with their daughter and she doesn't trust him with their daughter. I agree with Islandbride...until they grow up, nothing is going to get resolved. You can't let this situation get you down. It's not your fault and neither you or FI should be blamed for it.
  19. Hey girls. I stumbled on this thread a few days ago and I must say that I am intrigued. I showed DH the plan a couple nights ago and he's willing to try it out. We were also WW followers, but just can't seem to get the motivation back to do it again. Unfortunately we can't start for a while. We're going away next weekend and then two weekends after that, so we won't have a 3 week window until the middle of September. Ugh! You are all definitely inspirational and I will be joining you on your weight loss journey soon. Congrats on everyone's weigh losses so far!
