  1. I'm so sorry to hear this. It's completely unfair. Hang in there!
  2. Honestly, I would go with comfort over sexy. You're going to sweat in them so you won't want to wear them later anyway. Plus, think about what a hassle it will be to adjust them. I wore white cotton panties from VS that said Bride in blue on the butt. That was my something blue. Worked out very well!
  3. Jess, you're just awesome! Nuff said!
  4. My FIL passed away while we were engaged. DH wrote a poem for him that we had printed in the back of our program. His Aunt then read the poem as we sat down to dinner and did a toast to him. Honestly, it was a perfect way to acknowledge him without bringing down the celebratory mood of the wedding. Since the father of the groom doesn't have an assigned "job" at the ceremony, we didn't do anything visually there for that. I have seen a candle in place of a groomsman before and thought that was appropriate. Rose petals are a good idea since a candle may blow out. I'm sorry for the loss of someone so important in your lives. Take care.
  5. I wouldn't do anything permanent to your e-ring. I lost some weight before my wedding and my e-ring felt pretty loose, so I debated on getting it resized. Then I thought about it and realized that I want to wear this ring for the next 50 years. Am I really going to be the same size at 40, 50, 60 that I was at 27? Honestly, I've gained weight since my wedding and I'm so happy I didn't mess with my ring because it fits better now. Just some food for thought.
  6. Did you do a search? There are tons of threads talking about legal vs. symbolic ceremonies and getting married at home first.
  7. So...what did everyone think?
  8. I completely agree, Erika! Honestly, I told my husband to pick out whatever he wanted to wear. He didn't have any say in what my dress looked like, so why should I tell him what to wear? He chose a tan silk suit from Men's Warehouse, went barefoot for the ceremony, and then had dressy sandals for the reception and pictures not on the beach. Frankly, I think we looked good. (I'd post a pic, but I can't from work. Feel free to check out my slideshow though.) By the way, who is expecting women to wear big, heavy, expensive gowns? Don't we do that on our own? Some people were shocked I wore a traditional wedding dress.
  9. I've never stayed at Sandals, but I've been to St. Lucia twice. Going to stay at an AI is fine, but I just want to recommend that you do not just stay at your resort the whole time you're there. St. Lucia is absolutely gorgeous and has some amazing restaurants, so make sure you don't miss out on that! Most people I know have stayed the Grande, but I've heard good things about them all.
  10. We stayed at the same resort in Punta Cana for 10 nights (this was just for our honeymoon, we got married in St. Lucia) and to be honest, it did get a little long. I think switching resorts for the second week would make your honeymoon feel a little more special. Don't get me wrong, I was perfectly happy to be on the beach and could've stayed longer, but I would recommend switching things up.
  11. Mrs. - Ms. Shelley My B2B has already been nominated, so I'll have to think.

I don't mean to be anal- but when you email someone you are paying to do something for you- you expect a response? I'm more than a little disappointed, especially after finding her services through this forum and hearing so many good reviews. You're following every thread referencing Sarah now, aren't you. This thread is 3 months old. You're obviously now out to trash the good name that Sarah has built up for herself because she didn't drop everything to respond to you the instant you e-mailed her. You wanted answers, she gave you answers. She returned your deposit. The situation is resolved, so get over it.
  13. I'd pick it up and bring it to the shower to open it, unless it's really big or something.
  14. What a crappy situation. Since there's really nothing you can do about it, I would just say that it's good to know where you both stand with them. Obviously you're not at the top of their priority list, so make sure they're not at the top of yours. I'd lower your expectations of them because if you expect a lot out of them, you're going to continue to get hurt. I hope that makes sense and good luck dealing with this.
  15. Thanks! I guess I should've mentioned that I'm not worried about the interest rate. I don't carry a balance.
  16. DH and I are looking to open a joint credit card for everyday expenses like groceries, gas, etc. It will also be used to book travel arrangements. Any recommendations? We want a card that has a good rewards program. It can be cash back or points. Also, no annual fee. Thanks!
  17. I don't think I would link this thread to the Dreams Cancun one. It will just cause unnessecary stress since we're not even sure this is a legitmate post. For all we know, another resort down there heard the gazebo was being remodeled and decided to come here and twist the story. I still think this post is completely fake.

  19. I'm not buying this. This is a first time poster (who by the way broke the rules by not posting in the Noob section first), and there are ridiculous inconsistencies in that post. I'm calling their bluff.

  21. I must be the only one whose hubby packs more than me. Be glad he packs the minimal amount, you won't have to carry all your bags. You've probably left already. Have a safe journey!

Ah, I wish I was there right now. *Sigh*
  23. I would just say something like, "You're right. I want to put all my friends and family, plus myself and my fiance in danger. What were we thinking?" Stupid people.
