It's official!! Our wedding date is set!!
Virg replied to VinceBride2B's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
So happy for you!! And OH SO JEALOUS! I have yet to be able to confirm mine. The Dreams Tulum planner hasn't gotten back to me yet. Did you have to provide them with a flight number before they would confirm the wedding reservation?? -
How are the prices?

We're actually ditching the STDs and going for super early invitations. I hate how invitations just turn into a formality. If people need to know 10 months in advance so they can plan according, then I'm going to invite them 10 months in advance. I know many probably disagree with me on this, but if I'm going to work really hard on boarding pass invites, I want them to be more than just a formality. Oops, sorry for the rant. Anyway, back to the point, I wouldn't bother sending out a save the month. I would wait until you have the actual date--and it's definitely not too early to set that. Don't let people make you think it is. And feel free to send out STDs as early as you want. No harm in that! Too funny!! You sound just like me! I was ranting to my fiance about all this yesterday and said almost the same things! lol I ma be wrong, but I was under the impression that the resorts wouldn't let ou confirm a date unless you had your airline ticket purchased? P.S. I am doing Boarding pass invites too! -
Hello Ladies, I am in DIRE need of some advice about save the date (or Month) cards! My FI and I are planning a wedding for May 2009. Many travel agents have been telling us that we should not book our wedding, flight, etc until late summer or early fall, basically September or October. As many of the people we plan to invite are recent university graduates, we would like to give them as much time as possible to plan, save up $, and coordinate with work. What should we do?! I am so confused. Is it a faux pas to note indicate a date on the STD? Should we send out our STD without a specific day? Would it be bizarre? For example: " We are taking the plunge! Come join us in celebrating our love in the Mayan Riviera, Mexico. May 2009. Details and Invitiation to follow. www.weddingwedsite.com " OR should we just start our wedding website super early, and send it to all of our guests? Also, many of our guests are already aware that we are planning a destination wedding. However extended family does not. Am I just jumping the gun trying to get the STD out 10 months in advance? Every time I go to a travel agent and try to get prices they look at me like I am crazy for doing it this far out... HELP!

Thinking about going off the pill soon...anything I should know?

If you get a generic women's multi you will be fine, as they all have Folic Acid. My Dr told me that pre-natal vitamins are just a regular women's multi that has been repackaged and jacked up in price... Save your money for the diapers and cute baby clothes! -

I am in between appointments with my estetician , as she is fully booked for the next 2 weeks. I decided I have enough time to shave. First of all, I wear glasses, so I couldn't see a thing in the shower, came out with spots of hair all over the place. Then my fiance proceeded to make fun of me, caling me spotty... lol And now the regrowth!!! OMG! ITCHY!! I have no idea how you ladies do NOT get waxed!! I wanted to die the other day at work... scratching myself while at m desk, hopeing no one noticed....

Any one else NOT changing their last name?
Virg replied to nenamono's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I have a hyphenated last name. Let me tell you, it can get confusing living in a single last name world with 2 last names. I often get asked questions like " are you married?" "which one is your REAL last name?" "Did you parents get a divorce" ... my personal favorite " what are you going to do when you get married? add a third? " haha Thankfully, living next door the the province of Quebec, where women must keep their maiden names ( and many kids now get stuck with the hypen) - or pay upwards of 3000$ to change it, people are becoming more aware of hypenated names. That being said, what do you do when your fiance has his deadbeat dad's last name? And by deadbeat I mean the type that he hasn't seen in 9 years because he didn't recognize his own son... He isn't too keen on keeping, I'm not to keen on taking it, and then it becomes a question of personal identity. When we got our dog, Bailey the english spaniel, we gave him one of my last names and one of his. It fits. That is what I think it gets down to it. It has to fit. I don't call it being feminist keep your maiden name, its smart, easier and less time consuming. However there is alot to be said going the tradional way, it is expected. But as DW brides, I think it is safe to say that NO ONE expects the tradional from me (at least if not for most DS brides). On a side note: My brother is getting married this summer and for his fiance, this is a non-issue, she is taking his last name, BOTH of them. Which to me defeats the prupose. Taking on a hypenated last name should represent the union of the 2 families, and not the union of the Inlaws. All this being said, we will probably do the hyphen and torture our kids with the inconvenience of the Hypen However, I FIRMLY believe that if I am to change mine, so is he. Equality. And there is my feminist side -

Just so you are aware, a few of my girlfriends were in Cuba ent Castro announced he was stepping down. They had no problems what so ever. For those that aren't aware, for us Canadians going to Cuba is not a big deal. Most people go every year without incidents.

Has anyone ever tried the PetSmart Hotel?? We have over a year to figure this out thankfully, but we have never had to board our dog. However, with all the normally doggy sitters coming to the weding, we need to find an alternate. Thanks!
