  2. Oh - and I can't belive I forgot: Freddy and Fredrica by Mark Helprin - SO funny!!
  3. Oh thank heavens for this thread! I love a good book. I will even read a terrible book just to have something to read! Some of my favorites that haven't been mentioned yet: 1. Anything by Christopher Moore - hilarious. My favorites are The Lamb, and Blood sucking Fiends. 2. The Alchemist - Paul Cohello 3. The Alienist and The Angel of Darkness by Caleb Carr 4. The Piano Tuner - Daniel Mason 5. Forever - Pete Hamill
  4. Good greif. Someone get the woman a hobby already!
  5. Oh that sounds like such fun! And that cake looks so yummy!
  6. Two really good options are (1) hot glue guns - just make sure to use enough glue that they really stick and (2) use an eyelet in each corner and tie them on with ribbon threaded through the weave of the fan. Good luck!
  7. OMG it's gorgeous! And it's totally appropriate for a DW! Now go try it on and show us pictures!!!
  8. Happy birthday MarieSam!!!!!! Can't wait to hear all about the fun you're having!
  9. I have to recommend my makeup artist! She was amazing! We actually flew her down to Mexico with us for the wedding after she did a session for us at the Laura Mercier counter at Nordstrom. She's in Queens. Love her to pieces! I don't know if she'd want me posting her name and number for the world to see, but I'll send you a PM shortly. By the way, if you want to see some of her work, take a look at my photos - and for the record, I don't normally look anywhere close to that good. Between Nathaniel (amazing photog) and Alicia, I looked better than I've ever looked before or since! Chris and Rebecca's Wedding by Nathaniel Thompson Photography
  10. Welcome to the forum!!! I am so jealous of your Italian wedding. I lived in Siena for the better part of a year and I miss it so much! When my husband and I started talking about a destination wedding, I was desperate for Italy, but in the end opted for Mexico because it was easier for people. If you need any help or suggestions, don't hesitate to ask!
  11. Oooh! Good thread! Okay, mine... 1. Our first look. FI was downstairs and I told my girlfriends to send him up. He was all "we're behind schedule... what does she need?!" And when he got upstairs his jaw dropped and he just stood there agape. Fabulous! 2. Just after the ceremony started, I was getting a little weepy and then I realized! I leaned over to FI and whispered "I forgot by freakin' bouquet in the room!" we laughed and that was it for my tears!
  12. Beeee-you-tee-ful!!!! I love it! Thanks!
  13. I'm with Jessica - they are so great when you want to use darker envelopes. I've done these for a few of my clients, and have always gotten great feedback!
  14. I ordered mine from fiskars - their corner squeeze punch. I can't remember the name... but it's the smaller of the two, the squeeze punch is SO handy!
  15. Wandsworth is great - it's really an urban suburb of London, there's a tube stop (I think it's putney bridge on the District Line) and you're really just across the Thames from Chelsea, Kensington, Knightsbridge (that's where I lived), and the West End. So a quick hop into the fun parts of London. I'm so jealous of your opportunity!
  16. Welcome to the forum! I got my dress in NYC (not Dessy, but I know they carry them) at RK Bridal on 39th and 9th (I think) - it's no frills, but they have a great selection and the seamstresses are really good!
  17. Wow MarieSam! You look amazing! And how fun to take your own stylist down with you!
  18. OMG Yamille!!!! You are so beautiful! And sooooo happy! Many congratulations!
  19. Ann that is so exciting! And I get the me vs mommy-me thing. I lived in London for a bit less than a year. It was originally supposed to be 6-months and I begged for an extension. And I cried when I came back, I loved it there so much! Frankly, I had a job offer to go back when I met DH... but that's a whole different story. But if the mommy side of you is leaning that way, I can't encourage you enough. Living abroad is so amazing!
