Finding Wedding Dress Prices
*JillD* replied to Nrvsbride's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I did that on the knot too, but it didn't matter because when I went in the store they picked dresses out for me, so I didn't know the prices, but I you could probably just tell them a range when you go in, so they don't bring out something too high -
Donation as wedding favor
*JillD* replied to mexicobride's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I went to a wedding this past weekend and they had this scroll type thing wrapped up with ribbon, I don't know if they made them or what, but it basically thanked all their guests for coming and in lieu of favors, blah, blah, blah, in memory of. It's a great idea and I'm so glad you brought this up!! My FI's little brother died in a car accident about 5 years ago, he was 17, and FI still has a really hard time with this, which is understandable and also one of FI's best friends was killed in a whitewater rafting accident two years ago, which has also been really hard for him and his friends. So, I think doing a donation to his brothers scholarship fund and a donation to the animal shelter (ralph loved animals) will be a great thing to do. I'm so happy you mentioned this, I'll have to talk to FI!! -
wedding band shopping
*JillD* replied to *JillD*'s topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Thanks girls for the advice, I was a little leary about the mall stores as well, but I figured at least it was a good place to try some on to see what I liked. I have looked online, A LOT, but wasn't really sure what I liked so it helped to go and try them on, to see what looked good. I did check out the site Anny got hers from and saw some that I liked, and I am considering ordering from them. There is a also a site Edyta posted that I found some I liked as well. Maybe I'll try checking the local jewelers to see what there prices are. thanks for the advice!!! -

Thanks Natalie! Alright, I guess I'll work on the logo part first and see what I can come up with and then I'll decide! -
so today I went and tried on some wedding bands to figure out what I like on my finger. I was at the mall so I just went to some of the chain jewelry stores, Gordons and Hannoush. Has anyone bought there rings from either of these places and how do you feel about them? Also are there prices competitive with what you would get at a local jewelry store and also how do you feel about the quality. Since I will be wearing this ring for the rest of my life, I want a nice ring. Also, they wrote the rings down for me & I saw the prices on the tags, but they gave me a discounted price, I'm assuming because they know I'm shopping and want me to come back. I tried a 1 karat, 3/4 eternity band, with the milligrain band, priced at 1205, but she gave me the price of 980, if I bring her card back with me the other place I tried, it was called a bostonian, 4 diamonds prong setting, 1/2 carat $995 and channel set, 1/2 eternity, 1/2 carat 800 I think my favorite was the first one, but I also like the diamonds with the shared prongs. but my real question is where should I go to buy my ring, hahaha sorry to ramble!!

Oh, Natalie, I forgot to reply to yours, there are two things you could do: 1. You can order the kit online and it will explain how to count points, etc.. 2. You can go to meetings and weigh in weekly and you'll get all the books there. If you don't like the idea of going to meetings each week, you could go at least once to check it out and get the books, you might like the meetings. 3. oh one more option, in one of the other ww threads there is an excel file which will calculate points for you, the only problem with that is that in the ww book, they have common food items and there points values, so sometimes the book comes in handy when you don't have the nutrition facts to figure out points from. Hope this helps a little, let me know if you have any questions!

Christine I agree!! And I was thinking the same thing about Rebecca the other day! I'm ready to get back on track, I feel like I was doing so good and now soooo bad! Christine, did you go way in this week? You don't have to tell if you don't want to, I'll be weighing in on friday and hopefully I'll at least still be the same and not have gained!

Thanks Ann, thats a really good price! I guess I have to decide if I can be a DIYourselfer or if I am just going to F*&%^#$@ them up. I'm so not good at stuff like this and I'll be so mad if I buy them and mess them up! you girls have too many good ideas, you know I can't make a decision to save my life! -
Painting parasols?
*JillD* replied to anaderoux's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I love the parasols, I really want to do them, but I can't decide between these or the fans, but I think they'll look so cute in pictures! -
I have the books, but I don't go to the meetings, I just check in with the girls here in the WW thread once a week. The last few weeks I haven't been really good, which is really bad, hahaha, but today I'm doing good so far and I'm going on my treadmill when I get home. I think the in person meetings really work well for a lot of people but if you're like me and trying to save every penny to pay for the darn wedding, then I think you can do it on your own if you have someones support whether it be here or a friend or family member

Thats the problem I'm having Tammy, is that everything is too small. I went to macy's today and found the perfume bottle I had looked at online, and it said it was 6 inches, so I was kind of leary about it, I see it in the store, and it looks like this miniature thing, I'm like what the F*%@$%*& am I going to do with that! Then I found this amethyst decanter, it also came with 6 tall shot glasses, not sure if I could use those for something, but I think the set was $19.99, so that wasn't too bad. A lot of the decanters, I thought the glass seemed really thin at the top and I was worried it would break in transport. Let me see if I can find the amethyst one damn it, I can't find it on the website!

I did STD's that included the TA's information, I haven't finished my website yet, and I don't know if I really have any desire too (thats so awful!!) I am making my invitations and this was just because I didn't want to spend a lot of money on them. I bought a kit at staples, it has the invitation, the reply card, and the reception card, and all the envelopes, the kit was I think $25 or $35, I can't remember, and I'm going to print them on my fathers printer (he has a really nice printer) and I'll probably put our monogram on them as well, to make them pretty. They are white with a silver raised border. This was one area where I felt I could save money. There are some invitation threads here, some of the girls have gorgeous invitations. My favorite, off the top of my head was Christa's, she did the pocketfold ones, and she did them herself, can't remember the cost, but they were very pretty. sorry to ramble!

Post your OOT Bag Photos!
*JillD* replied to LCBride2007's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Ok, a couple of questions, Sherry, the bags you got, are the ones I want, are they really too small?? I would probably put 2 water bottles, a couple of snacks, and some little size things like sunblock, tylenol, pepto, etc. Do you think they'll be too small? I'm not doing anything huge. Also, Ann, the canvas bags, were those from hobby lobby? i can't remember, I don't even know if we have one of those stores around here, I'll have to check. -

choosing a location is the most frustrating part! I got soooo frustrated during that process, but once thats done you'll be ready to work on the fun stuff. Like everyone else said, decide whats important and that will help you narrow it down. And ask us questions, many of us are getting married at different resorts and might be able to help you decide.
