OFFICIAL NOW Jade Wedding Thread

How far in advance did everyone send out their invitations? Also did u include the food options in the invitations for them to choose? I assume we have to let the hotel know in advance what everyone plans to eat?

We're getting married in September,  I sent out invites in the beginning of March. I put an RSVP date of June 1st, so I have plenty of time to gather the meals, and seating arrangements before contacting Pilar & Isela. The WC needs the meal choices and all the forms 45 days prior to the wedding date, so for us that's August 10th. (Giving me about 2 months to finish everything!) Also with our TA, everyone has to be paid in full 60 days before our trip, which is July 21st. So I'm glad I got them out of the way nice and early so I don't have to scramble last minute, there's plenty of other things I'll be freaking out about by then. I did Passport invitations, and included a meal card with two choices and the website where guests can RSVP rather than waste money on extra postage. My invites are under my gallery in my profile if you want to take a look. Hope this helps!

Bare with me guys... I've been super busy and have not been able to log in and mingly with you guys lol!!

My colors were originally coral and mint also, but now it's more pink and mint bc it's impossible to find anything coral on Long Island apparently. I'm having gold accents and also want NOWE009 all white but add a Few pink to accent it... Love the idea of adding fake flowers, cannot wait to see your photos!!

I love the pink and gold with the coral!! I will def put up pics of how mine turns out but cant wait to see yours!!!

February 2015 bride here!  Did you girls bring a lot of your supplies like sky lanterns, table linens, napkins, centerpieces or use the resorts?   Did you have assigned seating arrangements?

Congrats!!! I am bringing chair sashes, table runners, my own centerpieces, straws, programs, fans, bubbles, im making a "take-a-photo guestbook" so ill br bringing props as well. I'm thinking of doing a cute/simple pin-up seating chart for everyone b/c I'm only having about 20 ppl coming.

Hi everyone. I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Lori and I'm getting married at the Now Jade on May 8, 2014 (Eek! So soon!!). I read this forum often, but I'm such a procrastinator that it started giving me heart palpitations because brides getting married a year after me were so much further in their planning that I was haha. I am now all caught up and was hoping to hear from some of the brides who will be there from May 3rd-10th. I have a group of 53 people joining me. The majority of the group is in their 30s. My biggest concern about the Now Jade from the inception of booking was the lack of liveliness during the day (that was not catered towards families and children) as well as the lack of nightlife. My group is no by means looking for a Spring Break in Cancun atmosphere, but can certainly be a fun and boisterous crowd. I'm sure between 50 of us, we'll be able to create our own fun, but would love to hear from previous brides regarding the atmosphere at the main pool during the day and the sports bar/disco at night or brides or brides who will be down there with me with a similar concern. I would just hate for my guests to pay all of this money to be kind of bored (but nonetheless bored in paradise!). While the TripAdvisor reviews all speak to the activities at the main pool, none really talk about music playing or fun at the pool bar or the dancing at night or anything.

Congrats!!! And trust me I am a procrastinator as well!! I have read several reviews that the resort has daily activities for the guests so I really wouldnt worry about your guests being bored I am sure they were enjoy it ALL!!! Btw cant wait to see your pics and review!

I'm getting married at Now Jade 4/18/15!  Did the wedding planners work with you on crediting items included in the package that you didn't need?  Does anyone have pros and cons of the ceremony, cocktail hour site, and reception site?  What do you think the best rehearsal dinner option is?  We are having about 70 guests.  Thank you!!

Congrats on your wedding!!! I have not really asked for credits on my package but instead have tried to use the items towards other days: for example i am having an outside photographer so I asked if the photographer in the divine package can be used for a trash the dress on another day, I am also having an outside make-up and hair dresser come in so I am giving my mom the hair/makeup provided in the divine package to my mom, etc. I think that it is easier for them to try and accomadate you on another day for items in your package then to credit something back to you... :( i would prefer the credit lol

As for the rehearsal dinner- I am having it in the buffet restaurant b/c there is no charge and they will reserve tables for you. :) Good luck with everything!

Hey everyone! I just had my wedding last Saturday, 4/19. I am writing up a review but if anyone has any questions let me know. I'd love to share any info!

Hi Adrianne, Unfortunately, they don't really credit items from the packages. I tried to credit a couple things or switch them out for others and I had no luck...but it's always worth a shot! I just had my wedding last Saturday 4/19. We had the pergola for the ceremony, the blue bar for the cocktail hour, and the bamboo room for my reception. I'm so happy I choose these spots, they were absolutely beautiful! I would check though if they would work for your size of group because we only had 23 guests. We also just had our rehearsal in Carnival which is the buffet because it was the only option that would not cost for us. The other restaurants cost around $20-$30 per person. Good luck with the planning!

Congrats Megan I cant wait to see your picures and review!!!!

You could really go either way with a smaller group and especially smaller population of young adults....

We are doing the full reception with DJ, even extending it to a 4th hour. It could end up being money not wisely spent, but at the same time if we are having a great time and it ends prematurely I'll regret not doing it. It's our wedding, something I only plan on doing once (knock on wood, lol) so I don't want to leave anything to chance. I'll spend the money and see what happens.

Completely can't fault you for wanting to do it the way you mentioned either though. I could definitely see a scenario where the dj is pumping the music out to a small handful of people. My hope is that with the smaller group (and enough liquor) people who normally wouldn't dance much at larger weddings in front of more strangers will let loose and get out on the floor.... we will see though!

The wedding is coming in a week and a half, so I'll gladly report back to you with my results!

Congrats!! I am also cuffing up the money for the DJ... my fiancee just wasnt into the whole wedding app... although i have read many reviews that brides LOVED IT!!

I cant wait to see your pictures and review!!!

I sent my Save the Dates about a year in advance and the invites about 6 months in advance. I did not include food options b/c I was told it would be one set meal for everyone.  Although i did have some guests chose a different entree due to allergies and the wedding coordinator was helpful about that.

(Sorry for all these replies lol)

Great! This makes me so excited!! Some of the reviews make the place sound so secluded and boring, but now that I think of it, that may have been people traveling as a couple of two people. I can't believe how soon we'll all be there!

Does anyone know if the resort  makes the programs for you or do you have to make your own? Leaving in 2 days!

I have seen some occasions where they will do the menus for you but I think the programs are up to you.

Just so everyone knows, Pilar is no longer there. When she left, she did not document my wedding appropriately, and so the new person Isela, gave my date away! Invitations have been out for 8 months now already and everything! So, we had to change to the day after. If you had Pilar and booked a while ago, it may be a good idea to just double check everything you had set up with Pilar got transferred over.

Also, since I have booked, they've changed their outside photographer policy. It used to be that you only had to pay for a day pass for them. Now Iseala is telling me I have to pay a $150 outside vendors fee, even though when I originally booked, this was not the case. Is everyone else being told the same?

Hi Lori,

We will also be at the Now Jade from May 3-10 and our wedding is on May 7. Don't worry, you're not the only one, we are leaving in less than 5 days and are not fully ready yet. Still working on our playlist, as I write this post.

We have 36 guests, majority of our group is in mid-30's too. I had the same concern and really hope it will be a bit lively when we are there. Maybe with our 2 groups, we will be able to put some ambiance at the sports bar/disco of the hotel :)

Does anyone know if the resort  makes the programs for you or do you have to make your own? Leaving in 2 days!

Have a nice trip! What day is your wedding again? We are leaving on Saturday! :)

Hello,

Pilar is currently on maternity leave and from what I understand she returns in the next few days. When you booked your date did you not receive the confirmation email with all your documentation and details? At the very least do you not have an email trail for your date? You should have had to sign the release forms for your credit card with the date application?

We booked our wedding 7 months ago and it was made explicitly clear that the external vendor fee is $350.00 not $150.00 or just a day pass? I booked an external DJ and will pay the $350.00

I can imagine this has been frustrating for you. I will say I have found Isela to be a dream. I have changed venues no problem, she responds to questions very quickly. I also found this thread to be a tremendous help for all answers.

You should still be able to get married on your day no problem. They have several weddings on most Saturdays for example. The only concession would be the reception venue.

Good luck getting this all sorted.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
