So, I realize this may be a stupid question, but are table runners only for rectangular tables? I like the way they look but I want round tables. If they are, is there any way to decorate a round table aside from center pieces?

    Thanks so much!

I've seen them used on round tables. I think what i've seen usually is they have 2 so they cross in the middle. I thought it looked great.

yep ive seen them on round.. both with one or with two.. I prefer the look of just one of them so its not too 'busy' looking though

You could also look into organza overlays for round tables. You basically would get a sheer "tablecloth" in a coordinating color to over your white/ivory linens that are supplied by the hotel. I've seen them listed inexpensively on the sites the girls have been ordering chair sashes from.

I have table runners as well and was going to use them either way (I'm not sure what restaurant we'll be having dinner at yet, so it could either be square or rectangle tables)

I'm considering putting just one table runner on a round table as well - and like sweetiecat said you can also look into overlays to decorate round tables!

great post! i was wondering the same thing and was already planning to do it anyway. i think 1 runner per table looks best. it's a bit much with 2 criss cross runners and will looks like a bunch of X's from a far.

I think table runners look great on round tables! Now you've got me considering using them too, thanks for the idea. :)
