List of things that can be bought now without a guest list??

Recommended Posts

I am trying to find a list of things my fiance and I will need to purchase for our wedding that doesn't involve our guests. We still don't have a definite number of people so I can't order my chair sashes, OOT bags, favors, etc. But I'd love to find a list of things that we'll need regardless of the number of guests. Does anyone have one? I tried to search on here and found nothing sad.gif There's a few things I thought of so far besides of course our attire (that's obvious!) :)

So ladies, feel free to add anything that comes to mind...that way, I'm not making my purchases all at once weeks before the wedding...no stress is key! Thanks much!

Work on Welcome Brochure or Welcome Letter

You can book photographer and all other arrangements (decor, flowers, etc)

Keep an ongoing list of things you like so you can easily get back to them when you're ready to start buying.

great thread idea!

Hmmmm we haven't done too much ourselves seeing as the wedding is still 7 months away and we don't have a final number. I've only purchased shoes/earrings for myself, a few thank-you cards as we've received one gift and that's about it! lol I guess there's still lots of things to do!

  • 1 year later...

Most of the beginning stages is collecting ideas or the DIY templates (waiting until actual number of guests is known to produce).  I've done my welcome brochure, pre travel brochure, luggage tags.  I've also sourced a lot of things like tote bags and favors and bookmarked the websites.  I've also purchased flip flops as I am just doing a random assortment of sizes and not everyone will use them.

Great idea for a thread!

Our wedding is still so far away that I haven't even bought my dress yet, so it depends how early people are starting to plan.

Although we have no idea of final numbers, we do have a rough idea of how many we'll have. I've been ordering free tote bags from vistaprint, along with free pens, notepads etc as and when the offers come up. I think I'm on my 4th now, but when I get close to the number I think, I'll stop until I have final numbers. At least it spreads it out a bit this way.

I've also been collecting ideas from magazines and websites for my bouquet, hair and makeup inspiration, bridal party outfits (inc shoes and accessories).

I've been collecting ideas for my invitations, and other DIY projects and saving the templates to be used when we know more numbers and details.

I've considered what music and readings I want at the ceremony.

Let's keep this going!

I think the main thing I'm doing is collecting ideas from different websites. I look to see how people pull their entire vision together. I love reading about how people divide the budget. I have a collection of center piece ideas, looking into favors, pricing welcome bags, keeping a look out for sales and learning some graphic design to make my logos and invitations. I have found that the more you learn before you pick at date or finish the guest list the less stress you will have later. I want my wedding to have a cohesive vision from start to finish wile also sticking to my budget.

I collect Micheal's coupons and try to scout out items like ribbon, stamps, paper products, and frames. I'm also trying to remember all of my family's talents so that I can ask for ideas and help when I might need them- for example my uncle has an amazing laser cutter that he can make engraved wood and engraved glass gifts, my aunt is an interior designer that can get furniture and glass wear at wholesale prices,my other aunt is in fashion merchandising, the list goes on and on...

I would love to hear how everyone began their wedding planning and what was most important or exciting to them!

I {LOVE} that this thread picked up!

SKP1 - is that Atlantis Bahamas? I'm excited to see your wedding come together..I'm trying to work on STD's, Invites, Newsletters and what not now - a little tricky cause were not sure of the time of year in 2011 {I'm trying to take as many classes as I can to graduate early but we still don't know when i'll be done}

Oh Hamme - I loooove that your utilizing  your talented family... I'm trying to do that...like FI's step mom makes sauces in the Bahamas so i'm looking for cheap and pretty bottles to get her to fill for favors...

I've been collecting info and bookmarking a lot of sites...looking for great sources for all the things I see I like and trying to make decisions on what I really want {I'm going to have to blend ideas} bouncing ideas off of FI {trying to convince him certain things are his idea - like a photobooth} I keep going back and forth on things like Boarding Pass or Passort Invites, or both somehow... real touch bouquets, feather bouquets or parasols...Order that or make it...My goal is to start slowly collecting things for OOT bags and Wedding Party Gifts so it can be less expensive as we get closer and figure out what things cost in the destination so I know how to plan and budget... my FI dosn't see the need for favors and OOT bags and such things but I feel I need that touch so it's better if I buy them over time and I'll have it when were ready :) I'm glad i'm taking my time and not buying the first thing I see because I find better and cheaper things the more I browse this site! I know the DIY stuff will take a while so I want to get started on that ASAP so I won't be rushed later...I want to make a list of what I need so I can use my Michaels and AC.Moore Coupons wisely and I made sure to sign up for all newsletters (like Vista Print and 123 Print) so I can start getting these coupons {Oh if you have one near you AC Moore has a card so when you spend $100 or $200 they give you $10 back} Overall my goal is to have everything planned and ready so as soon as we know the date I can just excute

Happy Planning everyone!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
