daisymable, yes, there was cocktails and appetizers on the beach for cocktail hour, but it wasn't my wedding, it was another wedding while we were there. Jenn was on the forum but hasn't been on much afterward the wedding, I know she posted a review of the resort (JamaicaJenn)-Suites.

Sorry, I can't help you either.  I haven't been there, I was just passing on the pricing info that I got from Nicole.

I know :(  It doesn't make any sense to be charging us for open bar considering it's an all-inclusive resort.  I have seen other people say that they didn't pay for the open bar for various functions that were close to the resort bars, and the guests just got drinks for themselves from the bar.  We're planning to do our ceremony on the lobby balcony - as I understand it there is a bar just inside, so that will be perfect for the post-ceremony cocktail hour.  We haven't decided where we're going the dinner, but we'll probably end up getting a few hours of open bar there, which I'm not too happy about.  It's charged per hour, too!  I probably won't commit to it ahead of time, I'll decide once we're there an I can see the set-up and layout of everything, and maybe try to get them to include it for free.

I like that idea starrysim. I think that I'll do the same :)

Starrysim are you serious about the open bar being charged per hour per person? Oh goodness that's ridiculous! At least here in NY, open bars are one set fee for the entire reception. Now I'm going to have to let my fiance know and we're going to have to weigh our options because that'll be too expensive. Are you guys planning on having a "meet & greet" for your guests? We want to, but we're thinking we will just tell everyone to meet us by a designated bar location and have them order drinks for free. I swear all inclusive resorts have their advantages and disadvantages all at the same time. Smh!

I'm having a meet and greet poolside for 2hrs which will become really expensive but I think my guest deserve it.  So I'm going to have one hour of ipod music and the 2nd hour with a steel drum band plus open bar...I've come to the conclusion that I'm spending the same amount of money I would be spending if I go married here in NY but it's for an entire weekend of fun versus 4 or 5 hours of fun.

How early did everyone make their location choices? I am 6 months away. Did you wait until you got there, decide 2 months before or earlier?

I cannot decide between the beach and terrace locations for a ceremony.  I love the natural look of the beach but then like the privacy of the terrace and that it's less windy.  Has anyone seen weddings in both locations and can give a comparison? Thanks!

Did you know there are other options too?  Lazy river island and gazebo (this is for the Suites).  Lazy river island is after 5 pm, up to 70 people. Gazebo is after 6 pm, up to 20 ppl.  Lobby terrace up to 30 ppl.  I really want the lobby terrace, I'm hoping we'll have less than 30 :)  If not, I will make them squeeze in the extras!
