I like satin...looks more elegant. Mrssmith I got a cheap calling card...if you go to some international stores you can add a calling card to your sell phone...I still never got a hold of Nicole via phone, but her assistance do well answering questions.

Yes shame we didn't get to meet. Your pics are gorgeous, hope you enjoyed your mini moon too. Was it couples you went to? How was it in comparison to Iberostar?

I actually went to the new Secrets St.James/Wild Orchid, and I have to say it did NOT compare to the Iberostar. It was a gorgeous, brand new resort, beautiful decor and we upgraded to the preffered building which had a heated pool and free wifi on the beach. But the food was definetly not as good (and I stayed at the Beach hotel!) and the service wasnt as friendly. I'll be posting my review for that resort soon with more deets.

You were smart to stay your second week at the Grand - I thought I might be tired of the Iberostar and would want a change of scenery - I wish I had stayed at the Grand instead. When we go back we'll stay there for sure!

Daisy - YOu can have your dancing on the beach, but they will not set-up dinner tables on the sand. You can only have dinner in the restaurants or on the patio of Uncle Tony's at the beach resort.

Mrs Smith - I would def try calling. I found that was always the best way to get a quick answer. I added a few bucks on my Skype app for iphone for my Jamaica calls - worked great!

Misee - Organza is typically a sheer fabric (see through) that is slightly stiffer. Satin is opaque and softer, so that should help you decide. Personally, I like satin :)

For you ladies looking at rates - rates are always typically cheaper in the summer due to the fact that it is hurricane season and because, well, its summer. :D

I'm sure that it's not too late to change it. I had originally booked our honeymoon elsewhere but I just changed it to The Grand

Wendy,

I'm very curious how your sand ceremony container survived when you traveled back? Did it get all mixed up or if it's full enough does it stay put? Anyone else who has any info on this, please respond! I'd like to do a sand ceremony and have our 5 year old daughter hold the container that we pour our sand into. :)

Does anyone know if the $18/person for the reception includes the open bar or is there an additional cost for this? In the package I received from my wedding coordinator back in Oct the open bar is an extra cost. For the international bar it is $10 per person per hour. The national bar is $7 per person per hour. If u rent a restaurant for ur reception wine, beer, soft drinks, tea and coffee is covered in the $800 rental fee

Nicole recommended 4 when I said I wanted sunset pics.  We got married in October and it was rainy around 4pm some days the week we were there but we were very fortunate with NO rain on our day.  The ceremony, including signing the documents and sand ceremony took about 30 min.  After that we took pics and our guests were in many of them, the slideshow was the ones the photographer picked, she sent us about 2500 images on disks.  I have created 2 photobooks and about to make a 3rd for different guests/families at the wedding.  They did watch for some of them, they may have stopped by the bar for a drink too then we went to dinner at 6 or 6:30 (first seating).  We bought sand at hobby lobby (or maybe michaels) and brought the vase, Nicole got the bottles for us (for a Jamaican flair--and 2 pieces of glass not to carry around).

Oh, and thanks for the compliment :)

Kim, we put our sand in a checked bag and it was pretty well mixed when we got home so we used the leftover sand and repoured it (I think we did it on our 1mo anniversary).  I really didn't want it my carry on bag, we already had enough stuff to lug around the airport. Only we will ever know the difference. I have the mixed sand if I can come up with a great craft project I will use it.

Let me know if I can help!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
