Hi Abbie,

This is actually probably one of my very few regrets.  I went all out with a lovely OOT bag.  It was fun, but seriously, half the stuff didn't get used.  If I had to do it all over again, I would get the travel mugs and just put the goodies inside of those.  And by goodies, I'd do a small sunscreen (a lot of people ran out and were very thankful to not have to pay the high gift store price), SPF lip balm (almost everyone forgot to bring that), gum, candy, ibprofin/tums, and tylenol packs.  (the travel packs of the drugs can be bought at Office Max... that's where i found the best price).  All of that would have fit inside of my travel mug and saved me a lot of money.

I have such a large group that I was uncomfortable paying hundreds of dollars for dollarstore and walmart items to fill the bag that they will probably bring themselves. So, I was wondering what wedding favors people are doing? Does anyone know of a cheap excursion for 65 people? haha  We're going to give out maracas as a wedding favor but I was thinking I needed something else. I probably don't need anything else and I'm just being crazy.

One more question... I have 6 bridesmaids and I paid for their dresses and jewellery and bought them flip-flops to match the dresses for the reception. Do I have to pay for their hair as well? The spa prices are pretty steep if I'm paying for 6 people to get their hair done. I was thinking I would rather get them a small gift. What are you doing for your BM? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. My FI keeps reminding me how they didn't give much of anything for their wedding and I had to pay for my dress but I think differently and men don't care. hahaha

Hi, we have at least 5 kids coming in our group ( ages 2-15) and a few older people,  I am starting to get a bit concerned about the size of the resort at the coba location.  I want to make sure that the people who are bringing kids aren't' having to take them on a hike every time they want to leave the room.  Has anyone else brought kids with them, was the size of the resort a problem?  We are bringing a group of 30 ( as least)  Does one of the three resorts seems to be more confined?  I would appreciate any feedback .

Thanks

Pam

Okay ladies....HELP!!!  We had planned to just rent the DJ equipment from the resort, thinking it was going to come with everything we need.  My BIL is a musician so we figured we could save some moola!!  I just got the email back from the WC letting me know that the 'equipment' (I say this loosely), is a speaker with an ipod cable!!!! Seriously......Anyway, I have seen alot of previous info about DJ's on this forum (I tend to just look for advice and hardly ever comment), sooooo I am wondering is=f anyone has decided on a DJ and would like to share their DJ information with me as my wedding is coming up at the beginning of APRIL and now I am starting to panic a little...yes...I can be a bit of a drama queen...I prefer that over bridezilla!! JK So far this is the only issue I have had.   I am having the poolside cocktail hour(s).  So do I just contact the DJ??? Is any DJ allowed to play at the resort???

Thanks in advance!!!!

Hi Everyone!

Trying to plan the reception dinner-

Who has had their reception dinner at Frutos Del Mar???

Who has had their reception dinner at Dolce Vita???

Anyone currently planning on having their dinner at one of these restaurants and can offer me any info????

Thoughts??? Is it Good, not-so-good, OK???

How about a "rehearsal dinner"? Has anyone had or is planning to have a dinner the night before their wedding?

If so, how much did they charge? Any suggestions re: restaurants?

Thanks!

We had our dinner at Dolce Vita in November. It was really good and everyone enjoyed the food. They set up the cake really nice and the staff was really good. If you like I can send you a copy of the menu options that they gave us to choose from. We had to choose two main courses because of the amount of people we had(20) but if you have over a certain amount you can only choose one main course. You also choose the appy and soup. I probably have the Frutos Del Mar menu saved somewhere to so let me know know email if youd like me to send you that as well.

We didn't do a rehearsal...as we only had 20 people and didnt think it was necessary. The Tulum buffet seating area is larger and has a lot of larger tables, where as the Akumals isnt as big. We did a goodbye dinner there which was nice.

Hi ya,  I have hired a DJ for our poolside reception & he isn't the resort one.  I checked with Jazmin my WC in resort & she confirmed this was ok. The DJ I am using is DJ Bijan from Mayan Vibes, he does a lot of the weddings at GBP which is why I booked him as back through this thread there have been some great reviews about him, he is originally from Canada so is english speaking which I think helps when requesting music.  You can also email him a list beforehand of all the songs you definitely want played & he'll find them for the party.  His contacted details if you want to see if he can do your wedding are [email protected] :)

Hi everyone,

I have been reading the posts ever few days but haven't commented in a while!! we have now booked our 2 week stay as too have 32 of our family and friends which we think is a great number! We're getting married at the Tulum gazebo @ 3pm, 9th November followed by dinner at Le Arlequin at 6pm the a poolside reception from 8pm with Dj Bijan!!

Here are a few things i've come across whilst booking -

There is a 90usd charge for all Dj's except Dj Bijan and Dj Bob who have an agreement with the hotel!!

All outside suppliers such as make up artists and hairdressers are not allowed!! They said they would consider making an exception but again it will cost 90usd!!

Jazmin was very helpful regarding extra decorations i want to bring she said no problem if i bring them she'll sort them out!!

Hope everyones planning is going well!!

Amie

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
