Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Christi, our wedding is June 4. I was told by the WC that we didn't have to commit to a location until we get there. I am leaning more toward the beach. I have been to the Tulum resort before and yes the gazebo is BEAUTIFUL, but I've always invisioned my toes in the sand...so we are leaning that direction! We are both super excited and I love getting all the info off this page!

Hey Amy you are getting married the the day we leave. Our wedding is June 1 at the Tulum Gazebo.

Just an FYI my best friend is a professional photographer and will be doing all of my photos of course, but.... She is going to be staying at the resort until Sunday June 5. Just thought I would let you since no outside phototgraphers are allowed at Gran Bahia, locking you into Arrecife. She is already staying at the resort so I know she would be available to photograph your wedding if you wanted to use that option.

I am getting sooo excited. Time is passing very quickly now and I still have sooooo much left to do! Yikes!

Good to know TropicalBride! I actually have a friend traveling with us that will be doing our pictures, but thank you very much for that info! I can't believe it's almost here! Have had a countdown since we got engaged, and can't believe we are under 150 days until we get married! Sounds like a lot of people are doing much more than we are for our wedding! We are doing the wedding ceremony, dinner in one of the restaurants, and we are not renting anything for after. I've seen beach weddings before and so if I have seen them and not been part of them, that means the wedding will not be entirely private. So, I don't see it important to me personally to have a private reception or cocktail party. We are all people people, so we plan on just going to the disco and making it a party regardless of who all is there! We have approximately 45 people going with us, so there will be a party wherever we all are! lol. So, I'm not too worried about the private party thing. We just want to have a great time with all of our friends and family going and not spend tons of money. We are doing a big Mexican themed reception when we get home! Soooo many things to look forward to! We could possibly run into each other while we are there!! We get there on May 30th and are staying at the Coba!

Baileybride2be.......I am getting married on the exact same day and location! Crazy!!  What time are you getting married? haha

We're getting married at the Akumal hammocks location at 4pm and having a private poolside dinner and reception from 630-1030pm than heading to the disco. We have 64 people booked!

When do you arrive and leave? We are arriving on Sunday, April 3rd and our guests are leaving on Sunday, April 10th? We are staying for an extra week for our honeymoon to relax and take in all the sights. Can't wait!!

What are your wedding colors? I'm bringing down material to decorate the wooden hammocks structure on the beach where we're getting married? If we had a similar color scheme I could get them to put it up early or leave it up depending on when you are getting married?

I guess the disco is going to be PACKED the night of the 6th! Exciting!

I just thought I'd let everyone know that's planning on going to the disco after their ceremony and dinner, that its only open 12-2:30 or 12-1:30. I cant remember but I do know it doesnt open until 12 midnight. But right near there at the Hacienda theres a sports bar where you can have drinks and we did see live entertainment(band and people dancing) one night. Not sure if this is every night either.

Hi Everyone - Just curious why no one seems to be using the resort DJ? There are a lot of posts on here from people who seem to be renting a outside DJ for the private poolside reception. Is there a reason for this?  I was told by my wedding coordinator at the Tulum that the price for the private reception includes a DJ (DJ Richard I think.) Thanks!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
