  1. Thanks Nicy....still taking some getting used to but am now officially part of the 'Adams Family' der der der der dun dun!!....lol
  2. I had my wedding at the Gran Bahia & it was amazing....our wedding coordinator was fantastic!! Always emailed back immediately. If you want to see photos of our wedding add me on facebook Lisa Adams (Trevett). I can email you all the packages as well if you would like
  3. In reference to the lanterns....I don't think they will let you do it. I asked if we could put floating candles in the pool & they said no as it was a fire risk?...candles in WATER I mean hardly a risk but thats what they said!!....The lanterns would definitely need to be biodegradable as the resort is an eco friendly resort....I had brought rose petals with me for the ceremony location & wasn't allowed to use them, this also applys to confetti....it has to be biodegradable as well....worth asking though, they can only say no!!
  4. Hi ya, Have you had your wedding date confirmed from the WC's in resort or your TA? If it is with your TA then email the WC in resort with your booking reference number & they will then email you a form to fill & ask you about what restaurant choices etc you want. I did this the day I booked & they came back to me in 3 days....if you don't contact them I think they leave getting in contact with you until a few months before the wedding but I know I couldn't have waited that long to get things confirmed so I contacted them straight away. We stayed on the Akumal side....in my opinion it is the best....also a little tip email the guest services before you go & ask for your room to be in block 65....it looks out right over the beach
  5. Michelle you are so clever I love them, am thinking of a couple I would like....will message you honey xx
  6. Hey Ladies!! Where are you all!! Very quite on here.....us old married women want to hear more of all your planning....we need to stalk you all....lol I had a lovely email yesterday from our WC in resort to say that it was a pleasure dealing with me & was lovely to meet all of our family. She said she is coming over to London in September & wanted to know if me & Richard were available to meet up for a meal & drink....how lovely is that, I also met our travel agent for lunch at the weekend!! We became really friendly over numerous phone calls in the last year & got on like a house on fire. Its like I've now got a whole new wedding family....lol!!
  7. Hi there, Yes you can have a legal ceremony. As for the packages I chose the blissful love as originally had 28 guests....we ended up having 48 guests & the package didn't go up & I didn't have to pay any extra for the next package.....the only extra I had to pay was the price per head for the poolside party. As for witnesses you can have who you want....I had my brother & my cousin for mine. None of our witnesses were part of our wedding party as all of my bridesmaids were children. Our witnesses sat in the seats & then were just called to the front when they had to sign the papers. Are you from the UK?x Just to reassure you all....really do not worry about anything in this resort, I panicked so much before we went about everything being just as I wanted & it was all perfect. The WC's really know what they are doing....we got on so well with Jazmin that she is coming to London for a few days in September & we are meeting up with her for dinner, that is how great they are!! Any questions feel free to message me or add me on facebook Lisa Adams (trevett) Quote: Originally Posted by fraggle42 just checking because i am a little confused...you can choose a legal ceremony cant you. also on the GBP website they quote prices for the wedding packages and state that there is a minimum of 24 people for sunshine and 30 people for the blissful love packages. Does this mean that for each person you go over this amount the price quoted will go up. if so has anyone got a rough idea how much this goes up per person. i am expecting around 35 people to come based on the response we have had so far. i want to draw up a budget soon so may be asking quite a few questions like this.
  8. It depends on which airline you are travelling with Jemma.....I travelled with Thomson from the Uk & took my dress on with me. It had to be in a box that complied with their hand luggage sizes, I thought my dress would never fit in it but the shop packed it & it did!! I know some airlines let you carry it on just in the bag & then they hang it in the staff cabin. Best thing to do is call the airline you are travelling with & see what they say
  9. Hi Ladies, thought I would just pop on & say Hi!!....Have been following 'jealously'....lol....for the last couple of weeks but same as Nicy & Michelle have the wedding/holiday blues....am frightened our wedding dvd will wear out have watched it so much!! & feel like a bit of a stalker on here now!!!!....lol Glad to see all your plans are coming together girls & yes pics please!x
  10. I thought that when they told me two songs for signing however it does take longer than 3 mins of one sone....bride & groom have to sign about 5 papers each, then do your thumb prints....they stop to take photos of this then all your witnesses have to come up one at a time & sign two papers so it really does need two songs xx
  11. Hi Megz, have just spent the last 10 mins on the Alfred Angelo site playing around with colours. If it was me I would go with the fuschia & butter....however a bit biased as fuschia was my colour & in our photos it stands out so well against the sand & sea....I quite like the Jade as well though....I personally think you need a bright bold colour, any pale colours just don't photograph well. On what you have to book you seem like you have pretty much got a lot sorted......music is another thing, you need five songs....one for bridesmaids, one for bride, two for signing registers & one to walk back out....we actually had 6 as hubbie wanted to walk in to a particular song. Also have you chose your cake yet? I originally chose 3 tier chocolate however after getting in resort & tasting their chocolate cake at the many buffets it wasn't that great so changed to the vanilla & honestly it was one of the best cakes I ever tasted!!....mmmmm!!....hahahaha!!
  12. Tropical Bride - You shouldve came over & said Hi!!!! I didn't see any other brides get married at the Gazebo.... I think because we were staying at Akumal but I wouldve loved to meet you! Sunshine 2680 - We had our dinner at Gran Tortuga & they do not provide any decoration other than white table cloths.....I took with me hot pink crystals to be scattered on each table, favours that were put at each place, colouring books & pencils at the child places & I made place cards with everyones name on & did a table planner so everyone knew where they were seating. You can have the tables seating 7 - 10 guests at each table with the option of a top table as well however the top table only can seat 4 people....we had ourselves & our two children at the table for 4 then our parents & my brother & family on the nearest table to us. We did our speeches at the dinner as we were all done byn 8pm & the transport to take us back to the Akumal for our poolside party wasn't coming until 8.30pm. Where are you having your poolside party? As if you are having it at the Akumal they have a proper bar there that is always there so even though we only paid $11 for the special cocktails (basically beer & wine) we had every drink available to us.....I know at the Tulum it isn't like that & the bar is more a table with a cloth on it. We had the DJ & it was great.....he had tons of lights & it felt like a proper party....there was 47 of us so quite a few of us. As Tropical Bride said Jasmin is AMAZING & will do anything you would like for your day, nothing is too much trouble & after all my stressing & worrying our day couldn't have been more perfect!
  13. Hi ya.....this site is great!! I wouldn't have known half the information that I did without it!! I'll try to answer your questions as best I can:
  14. The brazilian was fun....not only because of the dolphins but you all get these little cards, green for go & red for stop & you turn them over for when you want them to bring more meat (green) or stop the meat (red). Just something a little different than the usual. For the photos we got 10 free in our package & then I brought another 57....this came to around $900, I can't remember exactly but I will find out for you....(my good old dad paid for these....bless him) They edit 163 photos & it was hard to choose but my cousin took every photo that the photographer took as well so we uploaded hers to our laptop before we went to view the photographers ones & picked out only the ones that she didn't get. To have all the 163 only on a cd the price was $2000. It really depends what your budget is....on facebook are all our professional ones, I am just in the process of making the 'unofficial' wedding photo album so will post so you can see them as well. Really you will have the time of your lives....I am such a perfectionist & did have a couple of bridezilla moments before we went but honestly everything was amazing. 5.5 months will fly by believe me, am so excited for you....I wish I was still planning!!
  15. Bijan was great, he brings all the lights with him & the system was definitely loud enough. Every month in the lead up to our wedding I sent a postcard to all of our guests with little updates & a countdown & in the last one I asked each of them to email me their favourite all time song, I then emailed all those songs to Bijan & he played them all on the night along with a great mix of other stuff!! Was a great idea because we really had a good mix of songs for everbody....Justin Bieber for my daughter....Temptations for my dad....hahahaha......but was really good. On top of that I had also emailed him our first dance, he also has a microphone with him that you can use if you wanted to do your speeches at the party but we did ours at the end of dinner as they book your dinner for 2 hours & we had all finished after hour and a half. I made a little 'drunken' speech at the end of the night using his microphone!!
  16. I am Lisa Trevett on facebook.....need to change soon to Adams!! My photos are on but will upload more tonight
  17. Sorry just saw the question about how long the party is for....this was our time line for the day: 4pm - Ceremoney at Tulum Gazebo 4.45pm - Champagne Toast & photos 6pm - A quick drink in Tulum lobby before dinner 6.30pm - Dinner & speeches at Gran Tortuga 8.30 - 11pm - Poolside party 11pm - until I can't remember!! Drinks & partying at the 24 hour snack bar Hope this helps xx
  18. Hi Ladies....am happy to help!! Gives me something weddingey to do now mine is over Firstly to Jamaho....even though the resort is huge, within a couple of days you will find your way between Coba, Tulum & Akumal really easy, the little buggy carts take you everywhere. The three hotels are all part of the same resort so in answer to your question..No you don't need a day pass to go to the other hotels....Coba Tulum & Akumal are all available to you & all of your guests as part of your all inclusive. Megz & Dfranklin....We had the poolside reception at Akumal side & it was fantastic....we had DJ Bijan as we booked before they put in place having to pay $90 to bring in outside vendors....DJ Bob is the resort DJ & he is a friend of DJ Bijan anyhow, we saw him earlier in the week doing another wedding reception & he seemed to be doing a great job, I have never heard anything but great reports about him. As for the bar....we paid for the minimum 'special cocktails' but on the night every drink was available!! At each pool is a bar & this is what they use for the poolside receptions so behind this bar is every drink as it is an all inclusive resort they will serve you any drink....so my advice to any brides is to only book the minimum package as you will get everything anyway!! As for dinner options at Tulum, we were given the same & we chose Gran Tortuga...the brazilian....I don't think you can have dinner at the other hotels but just ask your WC if it is possible & the restaurant you want is not already booked I'm sure they will give you the restaurant you want. Which one were you thinking? My opinion, the mexican is not that great if you stay at Tulum then definitely the brazilian....we loved it tons of choice & tons of meat & added bonus you overlook the dolphinarium so you watch dolphins swim as you eat!! On the floating candles....they won't let you put anything in the pool as at 8pm chemicals are put in to clean it....also it is too windy for any candles anywhere. We brought no extra decorations for the poolside party & it was beautiful....they light a little path leading you to the dance floor it is lovely.....God I sooooooo want to do it all again!! If I get 5 mins tonight I will upload to facebook some pictures of our poolside party to give you an idea
  19. hahaha I got the giggles through my vows as well which made everyone there laugh....I keep watching it back & having a chuckle....lol OMG on the dress that is terrible....they actually ballsed up mine as well, dress was fine but my original dress had a strap on one shoulder that I didn't know if I liked so they said they would detach it but put poppers on so I could make a choice when I was out there....I decided to keep it off but put it on for the evening so looked a bit different however when we went to attach it the poppers weren't there!!!! Not a major but still not what we paid for eh? My dress is black on the bottom OMG it looks like I have been to Glastonbury in it!!!!....lol
  20. Hola Chicas!!!! Well I am just checking in for the first time as Mrs Adams....woohoo feels great to say that!! I have had a quick skim through all the posts since I have been away but so much to catch up on.... All I will say is that the resort is AMAZING!!!! Our wedding day was perfect & the WC's are truly fantastic....as some of you know I am a complete control freak & was having major stress outs in my planning stages but I needn't have worried, everything was absolutely perfect!! I am soooo envious of all you ladies that have your weddings to look forward to but would love to help you all with any questions you have!! Believe me I asked 100's & 100's & it will be lovely to now help any future brides. We did us Arrecife for our photos & again they were outstanding....if anyone wants to look at our photos add me on facebook Lisa Trevett & you can see our wedding album!! Something I do remember reading is whats 'included' on the 'all inclusive'....well it is every drink imaginable....including name brands, we had smirnoff vodka, baileys, champagne everything there wasn't one drink we paid for including cocktails!!
  21. Hola Chicas!!!!! Mrs Adams here....woohoo love saying 'Mrs'!! Thank you for your comments on our photos Michelle, they really did a good job!! Can't wait to see yours Missus after your AHR & yes our husbands are lucky fellas....hahahaha Glad Dan has finally started to see what MIL is like honey & as for only spending 5 hours with Scarlet & Harrison....?? that just shows what she really thinks of family, my mum was the same as yours spent most of her time with us at the main pool, as you know my kids only have the one set of grandparents (mine) & to be honest Michelle thats all they need, they are better off without family that doesn't appreciate them 100%. All that said honey I'm glad that you still had the time of your life & I am so excited to see your pics xx Well so much to catch up on on here!! Firstly welcome to the newbies, am so excited for you all that you have your dream weddings to plan for....I cannot tell you all enough how amazing Mexico is & that we all 100% made the right choice with this country!! I will get round to do a review sometime soon but it truly was amazing, a complete dream come true. Everything was perfect, all 47 of us got on brillliantly, the resort was out of this world & the wedding day was the most magical day ever!! I am so depressed to be back home, everyone said they had never seen a wedding like it, there was tears all round!! I amazingly only shed a few tears on the day, as you girls all know I am a bit of a soppy cow & expected to cry the whole day long but I was soooooo happy I was beaming all day!! Catch up with you all more soon, Lots of Love Mrs Adams xxxx
