  1. I totttttally hear you. I don't like kids, and everyone that knows me, knows I don't like kids. I have a 3 yr old nephew and 9 month old niece and I don't even want them there either. I tried to find an 18+ resort but there were none in my price range, in the area I wanted, which was a huge bummer. Luckily of my invited guests, there are only 5 kids (including my sister's), and I've made it known that I'd like them to all stay behind, so that the parents can also enjoy a week to themselves, without time contraints or early bedtimes or whatever. (Taking kids on a vacation just sounds like a nightmare). Anyway, here's to hoping they don't come. And I'll also be stating that my at home reception is also adults only. Also kids just have no business being anywhere near a swim up bar, and if the parents are there, they'll bring them along, and then all of a sudden it's a baby party. Also, as a side note - if I were staying at an 18+ resort, and I saw people bringing children onto the property (even for a wedding) and the hotel allowed this to happen, I would be choked! Adults only means adults only. Good luck!
  2. Ahhh that's what I'm afraid of!! I'm definitely going to get on my family (or at least my parents!) to get on it. My deadline is in the heart of summer where everything is expensive with weekend getaways and what not, so I'd really love it if people would stop procrastinating! haha. best of luck!
  3. I am not sure!! We invited only 52 people down, but I have been too nervous to ask my TA how many people have phoned her up because I don't want to hear "none"! My deposits not due for another month and a half so I think people are just procrastinating, but I have a good idea of at least 25 because that's the bridal party, their spouses and our parents/siblings. Hoping for 40 because for the reception I chose I have to pay for a minimum of 40 people! (at $100/person!)
  4. I'd hand them out before hand, then it's all spread around and you won't be the people at the check-in counter frantically ripping things out of their bags and stuffing it in others haha.
  5. Realistically? Hot yoga class. Fantasy? Namibia
  6. I love this thread because everyone says they have a zillion to go, and then I see their posts well over 150. Everyone makes it!! I'll probably not make it until my wedding day, lol
  7. Ahhh I am not even close!!
  8. ooo toughy! Cake! (But only just) I didn't go through any other pages buuuuuuuut Day Shift or Night Shift
  9. All of my guests are flying out of Vancouver, to Cancun for 7 nights staying in a Deluxe Junior Suite at Grand Sunset Princess. It's costing guests $1635 based on double sharing. When we originally started looking I wanted to keep it around $1300. That didn't happen! Oh and mine require a $250 deposit by July 14th, and remainder by Apr 1, 2015 for my May 23, 2015 departure.
  10. I looked into this hotel too and only ruled it out because the pricing was just too high for my week from Vancouver. here is the info I got from the wedding coordinator, hopefully some of it pertains to your questions! Please find the WC's comments in blue Hi Lupita! Thank you so much for the response, and I LOVE the way you answer my questions like that. Definitely helps! Thank you is all my pleasure! :0) Okay definitely leaning towards the Turquoise Breeze option. Is the beach ceremony location super public? Yes, but I am there and I am always telling people no to approach to the wedding and do not stop informt of the ceremony I would be interested in having ceremony somewhere between 4 and 5pm, so I'm sure that makes a difference for having tons of "watchers" Yes but they will be watching a little bite far Is there an option to pay extra for an actual dance floor on the beach? We have a palapa that has a wood floor and you can use it as a dance floor and is on the beach Or is there another location in the resort where the private dinner and reception complete with open bar and DJ can be held? (Preferrably not somewhere that's completely indoors, I like the idea of open air) I just have the ball room and it is complitely close We are having a symbolic ceremony, so I would like to have it on the 2nd or 3rd day (not including arrival day) Please let me know the date and I will suggest that you do on the 3rd day but at the end this will be your desition Anyway I think that's all for now! Thank you very much - I am currently working with my travel agent on pricing. If you would like to move to the next step please find enclosed the wedding contract, fill it and scan for me in order to confirm the wedding date. I do not require a deposit or credit card information, only your hotel booking number. It will be my great pleasure to assist you with this very special occasion. Rest assured that we will make this moment one to remember! Enclosed please find the wedding collections Turquoise Breeze, Serenity Blue & Hidden Paradise with all the information, please let me know your choice and if you would like to move to the next step. These collections will apply until July 2014, if you reserve your wedding before the end of July 2014, we will respect the prices of 2013. In order to have the ceremony on the beach a 150usd federal tax will apply. We have ceremonies anytime during the day; the last one is at 5:30pm. If you will have a legal wedding you have to arrive at least 3 working days prior the ceremony. We can perform weddings from Monday to Saturday. Please see my comments next to yours: Is the private dinner on the beach for 3 hours, and the DJ for 3 hours the same event? Correct And is there a dance floor available or is just the sand? It is on the sand we don't count with dance floor Does the private dinner include open bar? Yes, National open Bar And lastly, what would be the price for the DJ and open bar to be extended to 4 hours? Open bar 18usd per person and DJ 80usd per hour And for the Serenity Blue package - Do you have a photo of the ceremony set up in the gazebo? Please follow tha link: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151812126410194.1073741945.34951430193&type=3 Does the private dinner provide open bar?Yes Is there somewhere to dance?Yes, in a ballroom And how much is additional DJ hours?80usd per hour
  11. Ahh i wish i could see the pictures! Do you have links to online websites with them?
  12. We are having a symbolic ceremony in Mexico. The deciding factor for me was having to wait the 4 business days - I want my wedding over before the halfway mark of the trip, so that I can relax! (And less chance of my FI having a terrible sunburn) Is it a hassle to get married at a city hall? Do you just have to make an appointment? We are honeymooning in Vegas after we get back from our DW (we wanted a little trip separately), so it would be fun to get legally married in Vegas, but then I feel like my real wedding would kind of be a sham for all the guests that came to witness it.. when at the end of the day we weren't actually married.
  13. I am so torn between having one and not having one. And my having an AHR is definitely for MY OWN selfish reasons, not to please people that can't make it to mexico. On one hand I'd love to celebrate more, put the dress back on, get my hair done again, dance the night away and be the centre of attention for just one more night of my life. (We don't plan on having kids, so no more showers, no more attention, this is it, haha!) - but on the other hand, it is a huge added cost, and we do want to eventually buy a place. We only invited 52 people to our DW, (didn't want a huge group), so there would be a lot more guests to invite to the AHR. I've tried to narrow it down to cheaper options, a smaller hall for $400, a cocktail reception with appies only and no dinner, a $450-$500 DJ, no photobooth, $2 drink bar, cupcakes (no big cake), minimal decor.... $2000 max? (Am i dreaming?).... I guess I just don't want to regret NOT having one, cuz I've been to one DW with an AHR, and the AHR was a lot of fun!!
  14. Another point I might add, is that I want to get the best, most restful sleep I can possibly get, before my wedding. A slumber party with the girls, (although it sounds fun!) is probably not going to meet the best sleep criteria. I've been living with my fiance for over 5 years, and next to him is where I sleep best, so that is another reason why we won't separate. I don't want to be yawning at 9pm at my reception! or have bags under my eyes, lol!
  15. @@McGee2Be - Ahh that hotel was one of my top choices! Unfortunately couldn't get the cost down from Vancouver in May. Congrats!! February will be here before you know it!!
  16. Getting my parents a gift never even crossed my mind!! Maybe I am selfish... I think that some nicely framed photos of the wedding after is a great idea. I will however get my FI's step dad a gift because he is our photographer!
  17. My wedding is still a year away, but I am having the hardest time with this! I want to find a happy-ish song for when I walk down because I'm going to be on the verge of tears the entire way, and an emotional song will do me in. haha. Any suggestions on happy? But not too peppy... Have to find the right balance Also anyone know any happy love rap songs? My fiance would love it if the recessional song was tupac or something!
  18. I agree with @@kmk2016 - Your TA should have good relationships with the travel carriers, and should be able to negotiate and price match. If they are finding better deals online, your TA should be getting those rates!!
  19. Me too! May 2015 bride and booked at the beginning of April. Also with Sunwing so we have the one time price drop guarantee. I would get on booking as soon as you can! I've seen tons of May brides already, and if each hotel can only put on 3-4 weddings a day, you may miss the date or resort you want! (Especially Now Jade, since it's so popular!!)
  20. Hmm, that's one I've never heard of either! However, sounds like you're going for a unique theme, which is great. Is there another colour besides white that would compliment? If a few girls show up in white dresses, and you're not.. will they get mistaken for the bride?! (Or maybe you don't care about that kind of stuff, just thinking out loud!). I personally wouldn't be offended if I was told what colour to wear, (or colours, which is good for options). it's not my wedding! I'd probably go out and buy a new dress to wear anyway!
  21. Wow that's a lot of stuff! I just wanted to thank you for posting this as a sort of reminder to make conscious, methodical decisions when buying decor for the wedding, and not going willy nilly in the stores. (Not saying you did at all! I'm just the type to buy everything, especially if its on sale, without actually knowing what I'm going to use it for). I hope you can sell it all!
  22. Awww!! It can't be that bad! haha. Can you tease it up somehow to add volume? (So it's not slicked down to your head?). That's the only way I can get away with it. I have a huge forehead and a high hair line so I look bald when its up (like on the top of my head up). So many dilemmas! haha!
