  1. Well said Pucca! And after my rant, I should just say that last night my fiance told me that he likes my idea so in loving memory of his adopted dad we will each hyphenate our names with his dad's name, making his dad's name our family name (Mr & Mrs. Dad's lastname). I feel so relieved to have that resolved. I hope you are finding some resolution, too, kellygrrrl.
  2. @delgadot, Hope your wedding planning is going well. This morning while scurrying around for some aqueduct pictures I came across the following BDW post that you might appreciate (http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/34054/iberostar-rose-hall-brides-post-all-info-questions-here/1890). This bride hired a golf cart directly from the golf course directly for $20USD. Maybe you can do that, too, if you want your bridal party to not only get to the beach (via a Reggae Tours) but also go on the tour with you at a reasonable cost. I think we will hire one to help our older and/or our disabled guests get around. Hope this helps. Happy planning!
  3. So I would like to say hello and hopefully join your thread. I am not Canadian, but I have been living in Montreal for the past three months and will live here up until I take off for my wedding next July. I don't know where to get anything here so thanks Torilynn for starting this thread. At least now I know the names of a few clothing stores.
  4. @Labebita911, That was a toughie. I had to look up Jimmy Fallon. Booty Call--Vivica A. Fox Fever Pitch--Jimmy Fallon
  5. Congratulations! How beautiful! I am so happy for you. I'll send you a PM tomorrow evening. Enjoy your honeymoon!
  6. OK, so I just realized that this nomination was for March 2011. Hmmm, well I feel a little ridiculous. Regardless, I am trying to find Nominate the BEST of BDW July 2011 with no luck. Is there such a thread?
  7. Mrs. Greene, I was starting to feel bad for you when you were telling me what your mother envisioned for your wedding. Then I got to the last part and let out a sigh of relief. I am happy that she is allowing to let you do whatever you wish for your special day (even though she's paying for everything). That's really wonderful. My mom's having a hard time letting us do what we want, and she's not paying for anything. LOL. Still love her, though. My sense from reading your post is that you want a private sit down reception. I say go for it (if you can)! It never hurts to ask. Try and let us know what you find out. You're going to have a fabulous wedding!
  8. Well, I was right. Your work on powerpoint was so inspirational that I started my first DIY wedding project. I made my monograms. In fact, I created three original monograms. I decided to go with the last one. I haven't shared them with the FI yet, but I think he's going to love them. I'm so happy, I just saved $20 by making my own. Thanks, Futuremrstgun! To show my appreciation, I nominated you for that prize! Good luck!
  9. Good evening Tammy, I would like to nominate Futuremrstgun's planning thread for your monthly cash prize. Although her thread is still in progress, I have found fresh ideas, new tips, and her journaling style inspirational. For example, I had been going back and forth for a while about purchasing a monogram or going without. After reading her thread and seeing all she created in powerpoint, I was inspired to try my own DIY project, my monograms. After creating 3 designs (I didn't even think I could do one), I have a beautiful, unique, and tailored monogram about which I am really excited and proud. I don't know that I would have even thought of using powerpoint to do this if not for Futuremrstgun's thread. Futuremrstgun is so creative. When I saw the way she embellished and coordinated her dress and birdcage, I decided to stay up to read all of 17 pages of her posts. I was happy I did, on the very next page she shared her tips for filling her bridesmaids euro suitcases (ultra cute) with legally obtained, high end free loot. Well I read all of the way to the end and hit my disappointment when I got to the last posting. Futuremrstgun is on understandably on hiatus until after her wedding, when yeah! she'll be posting more! Thanks for considering Futuremrstgun's thread (http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/74113/futuremrstgun-s-planning-updates-pic-heavy-and-will-share-some-templates-if-requested). 10. Futuremrstgun, I'm speechless (and that doesn't happen often) and inspired. This must be one of the best planning threads. I'm nominating it for a prize! Thank you for sharing all that you have. As a privacy nut myself, I definitely appreciate your wish to keep your plans under wraps until after the big day. Happy DIYing. I'll patiently wait for after the big day. Just please don't forget about us!
  11. Wow! The Truth about Cats and Dogs--Jamie Foxx Charlie's Angels--Drew Barrymore

  15. So people like me can increase our number of posts faster by correcting our edits. LOL.
  16. Hi Bruuing17, Despite what my fiance says, I don't think it is ever too early to start planning. I've learned so much and continue to learn so much on this board. I've seen just in the last 6 months how my good ideas have evolved into fabulous ideas. I don't think they would have blossomed so nicely without time and space. Also, I got a chance to check fares every week for the past 6 months to see how far out we should negotiate deals for our wedding that's 11+ months away. Something else I wouldn't have been able to do. I can't offer about weddings at IRHS as I have decided to have my wedding off-site and am still wrestling with myself to make the appropriate hotel decision for our group. You are doing the right thing as far as getting started early and soliciting advice.
  17. There are other traditions, but I am not sure which are familial or Jamaican. For example, in my family, instead of engagement rings the men build homes for their new wives. I didn't get an engagement ring because I don't like diamonds and do not wear rings (yet). I'm not getting a new house but a major renovation to my fiance's home which will result in a new, full story master bed/bath/office/retreat. He didn't initiate the renovation for traditional reasons, but i kind of like that it fell in line with our tradition. I love that!
  18. @delgadot, You are welcome. What's really cool is that they have a free trial so you can find the templates you want, download them for free and use them when you are ready!
  19. OMG that is amazing. I didn't even know one could bid on batches of coupons. So smart!
  20. What I am about to type is probably comforting albeit possibly bad advice... you could always sell what's not personalized.
  21. @delgado, That's not the right link. Try this one instead: http://www.weddingclipart.com/wordtemplate/hawaiian-wedding-invitation.html'>http://www.weddingclipart.com/wordtemplate/hawaiian-wedding-invitation.html
  22. @delgadot, I was going through some planning DIY threads this morning. Rosieposie, a BDW bride, used http://www.weddingclipart.com to print free templates so I thought I'd give it a look and see. While going through pink invitations, I came across http://www.weddingclipart.com/images-templates/pink-invitation.html and thought of you. You always on top of things so you probably already have your invites printed and ready to go, but I thought I'd share anyway. Happy planning! P.S. You're welcome about your previous post. I'm happy to help.
