  1. @Krysta I felt the same way when I got that e-mail from their customer service.
  2. @My Hoang, First of all you look beautiful in that dress. Second, I think you should have that dress made. If you are anything like me: that flower will always annoy you. If I were you, I would go with Landy. They have already done a dress that with a simple change of neckline would be the dress you want. Hope this helps.
  3. I'm looking for some advice. I had my MOH, bridesmaids, and chatelaine dresses all picked out from David's Bridal's online website (F12284) in our wedding colors, watermelon, lapis, and I thought peacock. However, when I went to the store to check out the dresses in person, I found out that the color I really wanted was not the darker peacock but the more teal color oasis. Here's my problem. F12284 does not come in oasis. According to David's Bridal this leaves me with two options, either choose a new dress style that comes in our colors or substitute the oasis color I want for jade (the closest color to oasis for that dress). Maybe I'm asking too much, but I don't like either options so I want to order the oasis dresses from overseas. I checked with Milly's Bridal and they will do it for $138, which is $39 more than the David's Bridal dress. So here are my questions for you 1) Anyone have any experience ordering chiffon bridesmaids dresses from China? 2) Anyone have advice on who might be able to make this dress style reliably? 3) Anyone have any other suggestions than any of the ones I have included in this post. Thanks!
  4. Thanks for taking the time to really think about this before posting. I loved reading your reflections.
  5. Hi Krysta, Sorry to read that Merrick is all booked up. That is who I would recommend. Between Marcia Roberts and Stacey Clarke, I would choose Stacey Clarke. I have read wonderful things about Marcia's personality, but also that her assistant takes most of the pictures. There are times that she seems more like she's overseeing than in fact having two photographers. I've also seen some not so great pictures from her. There's a bride on the Iberostar Beach pages a few pages back who was not really happy with her pictures. The bride blamed herself, but I just wondered whether the photographer who is actually capturing the moments are not also responsible. I have only read a few things about Stacey Clarke but all were really positive. Hope this helps.
  6. Here's my honest opinion. The dress looks well made, but the lining of the bra cups through her dress is unflattering. I would suggest alterations to remove the bra cups and a price adjustment since the bust was made 2 inches too small.
  7. Thanks TropicLover, I saw your post last night, and it has already helped. I really didn't want to get going this morning, but I did because I wanted to let you know that I did the Plyo. Thanks so much! When I did the fit test the very first time, my numbers sucked. I couldn't do a push up, but now I love level one drills because I feel so accomplished every time I do those four pushups. Even after stopping Insanity for two months, I'm still not back to my original fitness level (I'm not at my best either) but not too bad. As Kellygrrrl suggests above, the work you put in sticks even if you don't! I'd love to hear how you felt about today. Congratulations on day 2!
  8. Hi TropicLover, I am one of the stop/start insanity ladies on this thread. I started and stopped a few times, but in my biggest stretch I lost 15 pounds (without changing my diet or doing any other exercises). I started after the new year, but then I stopped again a few days later. I was wondering if you'd be my virtual workout buddy. Maybe knowing someone else is doing it with me will help me to commit to it. What do you say?
  9. I missed something. What is this a pic of?
  10. @Joanne, I like it better, too. For me, not for the sparkle but for the design. The frill flow from the leg in the Jasmine dress, which gives it a nice touch.
  11. @ MrsDesz, I know a lot of BDW brides who are getting married off-site but have guests staying at IB resorts. What the wedding coordinators have told them is the brides getting married on property have first dibs on any and all locations for activities such as bonfires and rehearsal dinners. This is not to say, that I don't understand your feeling mislead.
  12. @islandbride, I haven't really found a dress I love yet, but I have solicited a dressmaker to make major alterations to a dress I like very much. Hopefully, it will all work out fine. less than 6 months to go! Happy planning!
  13. That sucks that someone on here would burn you. ;(
  14. Hi Minx, I'm not sure I have much advice for you. I'm sort of in the same boat. I am going with Milly's Bridal for my wedding gown mostly because of the fabric. I really want a silk wedding dress, and most places do not provide silk. Milly's has 100% silk satin. In fact the Lazaro gown, which is my inspiration, is made of silk/poly/acetate blend at >$3600. I'm a little worried because Milly's doesn't send pictures during the dressmaking process only once the dress is ready to be shipped and they want all money upfront. I ordered fabric swatches to help me to be sure about fabric grade and color. I'm also really worried by comments that suggest a hit or miss experience with Milly, but rather encouraged that Jasmines referred you to Milly's for your dress. Also, I sent Milly's a picture of my reception dress. They told me flat out that they couldn't make the reception gown. I feel a lot better about their ability to do my wedding gown. Maybe you should reconsider them if you do not feel comfortable with Zimo. Do you have a website for Zimo? I'd like to check him out to see if he can make my reception gown. Sorry, I can't answer your question about the polyester satin.
  15. We did, too! Craigslist to be exact!
  16. @Cazzmatazz, Beautiful dress! Unique! Fabulous! I can't wait to see how it turns out. In the meantime, while I was browsing on Milly's Bridal, where I have chosen to have my dress made, I saw the following dress that reminded me of your post. I don't mean to add another vendor into the mix, especially since you are already a little confused about which vendor to select, but thought you might like to see a dress someone made that is a little closer to your design. http://www.millybridal.com/a-line-straight-neckline-strapless-embroidery-exquisite-cathedral-train-satin-wedding-dress-wg0548.html Here is other work they have with black applique http://www.millybridal.com/media/catalog/product/W/G/WG1191-1.jpg Hope this helps.
  17. @nmw134, Now that my wedding planning is in full swing, I thought I'd list out a few other traditions: 1) The bride puts one or two leaves of sweet basil in her shoes or stockings for good luck 2) Serving mannish water and curried goat at the wedding. Mannish water is a soup made from left over parts of the goat not used to make the curried goat (ie. the head of the goat). It may not sound appetizing, but boy is it delicious. It is said to be a natural aphrodisiac and is given to make sure the wedding night goes on without a "hitch". LOL. My groom will definitely be drinking some. If I think of anything else, I'll let you know.
