  1. Honestly, I would want to have a big fireworks display at the end of my reception. My fiance would pay for all of the wedding-associated expenses for our guests.
  2. I confess. I can't remember if I asked one of my girlfriends to be my bridesmaid. If I haven't already, I'd rather not. But, how do I find out? If I ask her whether I asked her or not, she'll either think she's being asked or realize that she was considered and then rejected.
  3. Go for it! You are never too old to pursue your dreams!
  4. Casey Afflek--The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
  5. I would definitely check with the resort. We had planned on doing this for our wedding (off-site) next year but were told that due to high winds and unpredictable weather permits to release sky lanterns have been revoked until further notice.
  6. Wow, delgadot! I love your new pic. Is that the image of your STDs? How fabulous! I thought we were the only people using 3 colors. We have purple, pink, and teal (accent).
  7. Hi Excellindy, Welcome to our page. Well, I don't remember everything we changed, but the major things we changed: a) any changes to the design on the day of the wedding would go by my sister first we wanted to have our left over cake to take home as it is customary to send those who couldn't make the wedding a piece of cake Some of HH's language is so absolute, so I just asked them for more details. I'm sure the contract is fine as is, but I always prefer clear language.
  8. eholt, You should get paid for your services on this blog. Thank you.
  9. Good luck, delgadot. We took weeks to finalize our contract. Every reading seemed to reveal something else we wanted to change. I think I read that contract at least 25 times and yet I managed to still have our zip code wrong in the second-to-last version. All I can say is that Rosa is the most patient person alive because I would have been pulling my hair out at 20. Also, which hair salon did you visit? What are their prices like? Will they be doing your make-up, too? Osharp--did you organize Rashel and Roan through Hummingbird, too? Delgadot and Osharp, after reading your reviews I feel like all I have to do is get our dresses. That HH will make everything great! Thanks, for that peace of mind.
  10. Wow, delgadot! You are on top of it. I am really happy your trip was a success. Keep us posted on the planning.
  11. Osharp, What a fabulous review! I'm so excited that your renewal was perfect. "Even the sprinkles of rain were perfect"--this statement says it all. Can't wait for the pictures.
  12. I'm so excited, delgadot! I'm really happy to read that you enjoyed your visit. I'm 2 1/2 weeks before you. It will be fun to have someone to chat with for the distance. Did you visit Iberostar, too. How did that go? Are you still thinking of staying there? I'm curious to know how the two compare or any other places you might have visited.
  13. Hi delgadot and osharp I'm on the edge of my seat. I can't wait to read your impressions/review of Hummingbird Hall. I hope you are both having a fabulous time!
  14. One of my friend's bought my bridesmaid dress for the same reason. That's still kind of you!
  15. Hi Brenners, Yes, I am getting married at a villa, which does not hosts overnight guests outside the wedding. I'm hoping most of my guests will stay at the same resort as me. I've been trying to contact group sales at the resorts, but they won't let me talk with anyone but the wedding coordinator. The wedding coordinator won't call me back. Grrrrr! The manager says she is coordinating other bride's weddings. I've also talked to other brides and they have not been able to get any of the same deals the other resort brides are getting. If I only Icould only talk to someone....
  16. Osharp, I'm with Miss K. Please don't let this misunderstanding get you nervous. Though, I am like you and am surprised that HH wouldn't have anticipated that you might desire separate travel arrangements from your guests. The cab ride should only be a few dollars from Iberostar to HH if you catch the cab from outside the gate. You will be safe and fine traveling to HH from there. However, if you want added security, you can have Iberostar call a cab for you. You will pay at least 7-10 times as much though. In my opinion, you can cross transportation off of your things to worry about list. In your shoes, I think I would focus my energy on trying to get in touch with the make-up artist and photographer. You are not the first bride who has expressed frustrations about vendor accessibility on these boards. In most of the cases, the communication was the only area which was lackluster. These brides ended up being really happy with the purchased services. I pray this will be the same for you. Miss K, Thanks for the numbers. I am so relieved to read what you wrote. I decided that I would have to have a barbeque wedding in our backyard to afford the number of guests that would come to our wedding in the states. There is nothing wrong with that wedding style, except it doesn't fit my personality. I didn't want to compromise my dream wedding for guests. 3 cheers for the DW option. Delgadot, Are you there yet?
  17. Hey Miss K, Thanks for photography list. I haven't opened it yet (still a noob), but I had intended to have it saved for when I'm ready. I kept going back and forth about professional photography. It's crazy, but for the cost, it hasn't been that important to me. I know, crazy. Everyone kept telling me that I would regret it. My parents didn't take any pics of their private wedding ceremony and only have candids of their reception taken and given to them by guests. I was planning to do the same because we are just hovering so close to our budget with the cost of HH alone. Then my fiance told me that one of our guests is an awesome photographer so we are just planning to have him photograph the wedding. He was planning to anyway so this works out well. Because he is a guest, we will have everything photographed: welcome/rehearsal dinner, dressing, wedding, reception, etc at a very low cost. I feel so blessed. Wow! It is so wonderful that you can be so accommodating and thoughtful for your guests, Miss K. They will feel very spoiled. I wish I had the flexibility in my dreams and budget to do the same. Did you get quoted a transport price before it was bundled into your package? I think I remember being told that it was too early to reserve transport when we booked in February (18 months before our date), and that one could negotiate better prices, around $200USD closer to the date. We went ahead and budgeted the $200 fee, but I've been contemplating encouraging our guests to cab it when the time comes. Since we are having so many guests, every extra thing we do is multiplied by 128, which gets pricey. We haven't paid for anything yet, are 14 months out, and already are $1755 over budget. I don't want to sound like the whining bride, especially since I know people will have to spend a lot of money to attend our destination wedding, but sometimes I think about all of the "non-destination weddings" in which I've participated, had to travel and come out of pocket for everything including a gift, and think that I am planning to do too much. Am I the only one feeling this way? Would you mind sharing, how many days/nights are included in the ~1100 IRHS price?
  18. Frugal help, please. I am getting married at a private villa in Rose Hall in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Most of the brides who will be getting married at the villa that I am are getting packages at all-inclusive resorts for them and their guests. I understand that. Some of the AI packages are very cost-savings. Here is where I am having problems. Many of these resorts have free weddings that include a free bouqet and boutonniere, free rehearsal dinners (it's an all inclusive, right?) and upgraded rooms for the bride and groom, but only if you have your free wedding there. Well, why am I not entitled to all of this free stuff because I am not having my free wedding there? Isn't the idea to have your free wedding there to get lots of rooms booked. Well, I am booking as many rooms as I would if I were having a free wedding and (giving them as many guests) and don't require all of their other services. Anyone else understand from where I am coming? Any suggestions? Previous experience?
  19. Miss K, Sounds like the planning is moving along. Thank you for sharing the info about a welcome dinner at the IRHS. I've been thinking about what you said about the all inclusive. Did you get your pricing through a travel agent? Does the AI price include airfare? Do you mind sharing the price of the package ou received for your 40 guests. Congratulations again osharp.
