  1. Our trip is a short 22 days away... not that I'm counting days or anything! We've decided to do an e-shoot while we are down there with Rebecca Davidson, we will most likely be using her for our wedding too... Super excited! Fingers crossed that we still have our choice of date for either place, getting a little nervous about it!!
  2. Thank you ladies for the support in my quest of finding "the one" and lesee - so sweet of you to post those links for me, I will definitely check them out! I know someone also asked who the designer is, Marchesa... I took the liberty of asking them myself, just to make sure the bridal shop wasn't completely sure. We'll see if they answer!
  3. I have been obsessing over this dress for quite some time now, and finally it's time to make appointments to go shopping in NYC ( I'm from Boston) so I wanted to make sure they had the dress before I went... discontinued, heart broken. Not sure I can get it out of my mind... I do have a few others that I like and will be trying but really had that gut feeling about this one.
  4. Grand Cay Bride... I am thrilled you found this thread! GCBS is looking like the spot for us as we are having a small number of family traveling down with us and not sure we can fill the requirements for the Carribean Club. I have been in touch with Marina a number of times and she seems delightful! We will be meeting with her during our little whirlwind trip as well!! Cant wait to hear how everything turns out for you!!
  5. My FI and I never went shopping together, his feeling was that if he knew me well enough, he would know exactly what to get me. Despite the fact that I am a planner and over analyzer of everything, I felt strongly that this was his decision and I wasn't going to say boo about it. Lets just say he clearly knows me very well. I am not a super girly girl, am very active (marathon runner, outdoorsy type of girl) but still appreciate the finer things in life and getting facied up for date nights. He had my setting designed with that in mind, platinum solitare setting that looks delicate from the top but from the side clearly shows that it can take a beating. He had the center diamond set low enough that it wouldnt "get in my way" if you will... As for my center stone, he went in with a size in mind and definitely selected quality over quantity. He went with a 1.5 princess cut, E in color and VS1. He told me afterwards about his decision that he stood across the room and saw the sparkle of my diamond over the bigger one and it was a no brainer, quality over quantity anyday. I love my diamond, my setting and think he did an amazing job without a single peep from me about what I wanted. In my opinion, the quality of a diamond is far more important than size... Good luck in your decision!
  6. I'm from MA, but havent really gotten into the thick of planning just yet... Can't wait though! Heading to Grand Cayman with FI the end of May to pick our location and then we'll be in full swing! We've booked our AHR location and I mostly have everything else picked out... hoping it will go smoothly!
  7. Check out cyrstalblueweddings.com I'm sure that site will help you find a location!!! It's been very helpful in all of my searching!
  8. Hi Laura!! So excited for you!!! Even more so another Cayman bride We are heading down May 27-31st and meeting with the planner at Carribean Club first. I'll be sure to let you know what I find! I have heard amazing reveiws, be sure to get some pictures for you too if you'd like??
  9. We will be using purple and orange as our main colors. I found this invitation thorugh an etsy seller and fell i love with it. Kept trying to go the "romantic" light pinks and green route and kept coming back to this purple and orange theme... It all fell into place when I found a simple two tier cake (will be included in our package) and realized I could do an all white orchid bouquet with purple centers... Inspiration Pics
  10. I'll be wearing a short dress for my AHR, depending on how the night of the wedding goes I may change into this if we decided to venture out after our reception... thinking of this right now Priscilla of Boston has some great short dresses, classic or fun and frilly!! Someone else posted an amsale I was looking at too....
  11. We are indeed going to the Carribean Club for a meeting. I have heard such amazing reviews of the place!! Thanks for your feedback!!!
  12. Thanks! I have been looking for quite some time too and have collected a fair amount of pictures but the color combo is truely unique - not too many brides using it - one of the reasons why I love it! I tried to post a bunch of the pictures I have but apparently I'm too new to the board and it wouldn't let me! They are all in my "default album" not sure if you have access to it or not...
  13. Our package comes with a small two tiered cake, going for something along these lines... The party we are throwing once we get back will have a cupcake tree and a grooms cake.
  14. From what I understand, they use brown sugar as decoration to make it look like sand!!
  15. NikkiScriv - Loving the selections... I am going along with very similar color combinations! Mind if I steal your pics for the florist?! Thanks!!!
  16. Thanks for getting back tome I appreciate it! I am going to pass, sorry!!! Im going to go with a neutral colored strap instead... Thank you!!
  17. My FI and I have a trip planned to go to GC and check out a few locations for our May 2012 Wedding! Anyone else getting married in the Cayman Islands?! Please share details, vendors etc!!!
  18. I'm fairly new too.... Will be getting married May 2012 in Grand Cayman! We booked our trip for this May to go look at 2 different locations and get a really good feel for the island. So excited!!!!
  19. I am simply obsessed with purple and orange right now.... A little similar to what nikkiscriv posted pictures were but here's some more!!! The invites are what sparked my love for the color combo!
  20. I'm interested What are the dimensions of the bag? Are you selling the full lot of them or would you be willing to part with a specific number of them? thanks!!!
  21. Wording for our AHR has been a pain point for me and I really like the simplicity of this.... Thanks!!!
  22. We have our own budget for the AHR - trying to keep it around 8k think it will be very do able... Our DW is immediate family only so the AHR will have around 100 guests. Very Informal, we are doing a traditional style clambake, the place I am really interested in serves it buffet style. there will be a dj but we wont be having any formal dances or speeches. We are planning the AHR approx 1 month after our return from The DW Food - clambake, buffet style Attire - Will not be wearing my wedding dress, most likely wear my "rehersal dinner" dress from the dw, appropriate for the informal day, FI - shorts, linen shirt and flips. Invitations - a casual pocketfold style, DIY, many of our friends are out of town so it allows a bit more flexibility for the amount of info I can include. Photography - my sister will be shooting the day, luckily she is very talented in that arena Cake - we are doing a cupcake tree with a small round for the topper, thinking about doing a grooms cake too... Decorations - I love detail and am fairly crafty so I will be handiling the table displays myself, centerpieces, menus etc. The location is on the water and will be outside, thinking navy blue overlays atop white table cloths using kelly green and crisp summery yellow as accents. DW Photots - they'll be displayed on a table for those who couldn't attend....
