  1. May 26, 2012 - Caribbean Club, Grand Cayman Island I can't believe I'm just finding this board now!!! Even though we are all in different places at least we'll be in check with to do's and what not!!! So far: Caribbean Club - Beachfront Luxury Condos Booked for our guests, 18 of us total going down Luca - Dinner, night of wedding Photographer Violinist Decor and Floral for ceremony and dinner tables Coordinator for day of Save the Date's done - mailed this week Wedding Website Dress AHR Site booked AHR DJ in the works Cograts to everyone here!!! Super excited for this year to fly by!
  2. Love this! it certainly is perfect for destination... very exciting indeed!!!
  3. Congrats! Its gorgeous!!! Haven't see this one yet! 2012 Pronovias here too... love love love the material!!
  4. Thanks! There are pics a few pages back... I'm planning on just doing a few orchids in my hair, side chignon (sp?), may even order real touch for these as I think they will hold up better. Funny you should ask about wrinkling, it was one of my major concerns and one of the reasons I wanted a straight skirt without layered ruffles if you will... I asked while I was at Pronovias and she said that it will wrinkle but they fall out quite easily in the humidity of the islands and to get it steamed once you arrive. I plan on bringing my own steamer, she said to do it from the underside, never on top of the material! Hope this helps! Your wedding is before mine so You'll have to let meknow how the wrinkling factor turns out?!
  5. This will look lovely with your dress that you just selected! Nice Choice!!!
  6. Gorgeous!! Congrats! The chiffon from Pronovias is amazing! I'm wearing Paola...
  7. So many favorites on Etsy right now... Just ordered my Save the Date's last week Luggage Tag Magnets - Seller is Mavora http://www.etsy.com/listing/64830132/tropical-luggage-tag-magnets-save-the
  8. We are helping her more than just her dress to get her family down to the island... So in my particular case, probably not, then again, maybe a piece of jewelry?
  9. I will be paying for my sister's dress - MOH - she has a family of four coming to the island and I'd like to be able to help her out in little ways that I can! We will most likely end up paying for my FI's brother's suit as well, as a gift.
  10. Hi Amy! Welcome!! You'll find tons of helpful info on these boards... St Thomas is beautiful and best part, no passports required! I would second another BDW bride above by finding a destination that will work for you and all your guests. If there are kids, rule out adult only resorts, think about all inclusive if you want it, may make it more affordable for your guests. I took a different route of course, we are doing Grand Cayman, May 2012. FI and I wanted an island we had never traveled to apart or together, we wanted beautiful beaches, activity for others (my parents love snorkeling his dad wantes to play golf and his mom wants a beach, my nephews will love teh turtle farm). Our families have never met before as they are from two different parts of the country so we are keeping our DW guest list to family only, ending up with 18. Because the number is so manageable we have decided to go the route of condos. They are 3 bedroom condos, full kitchen for family style dinners, 2700 sq ft, beachfront, simply breathtaking. I guess what I am saying is that alot of brides on here are doing mexico and jamaica, these resorts play to large # of guests and I am positive they will have amazing weddings but with a smaller number of guests you have many many options, so really think about who you want to attend and go from there. Good Luck!!!
  11. We are having a really small wedding, not intended at first when FI and I were discussing and then the guest list just got out of hand. We made the choice to have immeadiate family only attend our DW and couldn't be happier about it. Including the two of us there will be 18 total in Grand Cayman. We are staying in these gorgeous villas, beachfront, literally, 3 bedrooms a piece, full kitchens etc. Our families have never met in person as they live in two different parts of the country so this 4 night excursion will allow our families to blend and have good quality time together celebrating this new union. Because we are paying for this oursleves, we will be holding off on our honeymoon till the following year when we can go big and go to tahiti or bali for 2 weeks... We are also having a fairly good size AHR upon our return for all of our friends and extended family. Best of both worlds for us, exactly how we wanted it!
  12. Picture please? Or is it posted pages back?! Your emoticon makes me excited for you!!! I too am on the hunt for shoes, found a pair (I think) having a diffcult time justifying the cost though...
  13. Thank You Tori! I agree with you that perhaps because galante is so fitted it will help! Especially if you've seen other brides with it as a sweetheart! The other dress I was looking at just didnt have the structure to do it! I love this one far more than the other anyways... brought the picture with me as a "maybe" and was completely sold on it once i put it on. Picture online did it zero justice what so ever! When are you shopping for yours?
  14. I love it! I have a "plain" dress as well, I like to think that the simplicity of it makes it just as beautiful as an ornate dress... the way it will move in an ocean breeze, captures the essence of the beach... Great choice! Besides now you can accessorize anyway you want!! I think it's gorgeous!
  15. These are gorgeous!!! Great job and I'm sure your guests will love them! The blue tool... I'm curious, that rounded the corners on the invites or did FI hand cut those?
  16. Thank you Brenners, Leah 2012 and AwayDC - I really appreciate the kind words!!
  17. I've been known to be a bit impulsive with my decisions, this time be it no different. I decided Thursday after experiencing some (ok a lot of) stress over answers I was receiving from a LBS regarding a dress that I found and loved but wanted to make alterations to, that I needed to go straight to the designer to get an answer that I trusted. I made an appointment in NYC and I made my trek (10 hours total) into the city to find my dress. I had an amazing experience, very personalized service, they provided me with the answers I was in search of and then proceeded to find me the perfect dress for our event that wont require major alterations. Simple yet unique with the design on the bodice, I immediately knew I was done looking, I had found my dress and a wave of relief washed over me. The woman I worked with, I am grateful for her kindness, her camera skills lacked a bit...
  18. I have found soooo many great inspirations on project wedding - time consuming but definitely worth it!!! 19. I agree with you 100% I "should" be able to do that.... I just didn't trust the answer I was receiving. I drove into NY today, no I don't live there, or near there for that matter but I am SO glad I did! I found my answer and trusted the people who gave it to me and fell in love with a dress that doesn't need alterations. Will post tomorrow - exaughasted from my day of traveling
  20. You must be so excited!!!!!! How long are you staying for? Are you doing a rehersal and dinner? I can't wait to hear all about it!
  21. galante is gorgeous! love fresa too!! from 2012 in the fashion collection I am looking at paraje, paris (removing strap), and one other can't think of the name. I just called pronovias to see if I could order abaco as a sweetheart and the girl told me it can not be done or altered because there is no internal boning or structure to the dress to hold it up. It needs straps. I didn't even consider this point and thinking forward they would have to pur boning into the dress for structure which would probably show because its chiffon... I *might* have made an appointment in NYC to go to the flagship store for tomorrow... Yes I am that impulsive, can't help it
  22. L'Elite on Newbury... It dawned on me last night that when a salon asks for your budget at the beginning of the appointment, they really can charge you whatever they want for a gown. An upscale salon like that purposely doesn't put prices on theri gowns. I was astonished when I saw the price in the shanty bridal salon.
