  1. I am struggling with whether to try to make my own invitations or order them. Every vendor I have spoken to wants a minimum of 50-75 invitations. Our wedding will be small and the most I would need would be 30. Has anyone worked with a great vendor that has a smaller minimum? Thanks!
  2. like- but have only gone once as a child! Nascar?
  3. Has anyone done this? I have been going back and forth about getting real or fake flowers. I would rather have real ones, but love the idea of being able to save my flowers or our wedding leis as a keepsake. I ran across this sight. Can anyone give me any insight as to this? http://www.heavenlypetalsofmaui.com/ Thanks!
  4. If we decide to have an AHR, I will definately be rocking my dress again!

  6. We are also planning on marrying before our destination wedding even though it is in Hawaii. It is just easier not to have to deal with those details when we get there. Our symbolic ceremony will be our anniversary date...
  7. Congrats! I have been to Diamond Head and it is such a beautiful place! Where are you going to get married?

  9. I agree with eholt. Do some research shopping and find out the size and style that fits and looks best before going online to purchase if that's what you are going to do. I wouldn't blindly buy a dress online unless I had the opportunity to try it or something similar on first... Once you know exactly what you are looking for, then shop the deals on the web....!
  10. FI and I bought a 3D TV/ Blu-Ray/ Xbox w/ Kinect Package purchase right before the holidays so we weren't supposed to do gifts for each other, but he surprised me and my Mom with matching Swarovski earrings. They are beautiful. Besides that, we got a gift certificate that will allow us to go skiing a couple of times this winter and a snow cone maker (I wanted one for my Chinese New Year party). Our big gift was getting my parents a new PC which they desperately needed, although I have gotten lectured several times the past two days about us spending too much. Howard also took some beautiful pics of my parent's dog that we framed for them. He is getting old and I am not sure that he will make it through the year...
  11. Maui is in between Taiwan (where fiance's family lives) and Wisconsin. Plus it is the most beautiful place I have ever been to and is loaded with fun activities and great restaurants! Also, none of my guests have ever been, so it's an adventure for all!
  12. It's nice to meet ya, ladies! Erica- Your kitty is sooo cute! We live in a lower flat of an old home and I have been dying to get a pet. I figure if I get my landlord liquored up enough one night... maybe! Otherwise I guess I will have to wait until we buy a house. St. Thomas is going to be a blast. I have never been to the Caribbean, but was researching St. Lucia before we decided on Maui. I think a cruise wedding would be so much fun! Are you being given a hard time about how long your engagement is? Howard and my parents are both driving us crazy, but we are paying for our own wedding and have some friends that need the time to save in order to afford to go. Tyra- I know what you mean about the DVR. FI and I just got into a tiff today about that. My best friend who is getting married in May doesn't have DVR right now so I tape and save all my favs for her for when we get together. He got mad today because there was only 3% left in the DVR:) Have you checked out the website, "The Plunge"? It's a site kinda like this but with GQ style articles for men. They have an article about "wedding porn" and my FI jokes to everyone that I am addicted to all things wedding "wedding porn" since getting engaged. So he has to suffer through "Say yes to the dress", "bridalplasty", and "bridezillas". Poor guy! My last name will be Leu (pronounced Loo)- So Liza Leu, which was my nickname as a child. This Xmas, my Mom took to calling me Liza Leu Who after watching the new version of the Grinch. I hope that doesn't stick. I think William Williams is hilarious! Sorord1- I spend a ton of time in Chicago and am interested in great BD photographers in the area as well... Milwaukee doesn't really seem to have anyone with portfolios that I like. Let me know if you find out anything!
  13. And, I am so psyched that this is my 150th post! Finally... attachments!
  14. Ooohhh! Love Jimmy Choo! I wish I could rock a heel at my ceremony, but it isn't practical. Maybe I will have to splurge on something for the reception!
  15. My guests are booking themselves as well. I got a great resort rate and am going to keep on top of flight deals and notify those that are interested.
  16. Wishing you the best at getting through all of this! Family can be sooooo complicated and frustrating. Your wedding day will be what you make it to be! You and your FI will weather the storm (no matter how dark the clouds may seem right now) and it will bring you that much closer! Any the girls are right.. you still have time! Maybe a heart to heart with the IL's and your fiance will change their minds...
  17. I wish I was that close! Congratulations!
  18. Congratulations! What island did you get engaged on?
  19. Like- Is it off the air now? New Orleans
  20. FYI- Started a thread for the Midwesterners under GWP...
  21. Welcome! Where are you looking at getting married?
  22. As mentioned on another thread, I thought it would be great for the Midwest Brides to get to know each other and share resources... Please let us know your name, where you live and when and where you are getting married. My name is Liza and my FI, Howard and I live in Milwaukee, WI. We are currently planning our Maui wedding which will hopefully be about 20-30 guests on April 21st, 2012. We have just booked our venue and are just starting to get into the smaller details. A little more about me... I am an only child. When I get married, my first and last names will rhyme (I am taking his). I love horrible reality tv and have been addicted to bridalplasty since it aired. I find it so horrific that I can't stop watching. I work as the Corporate Training Director for a fine dining restaurant group based in Milwaukee. Looking forward to meeting some more local brides:)
