  1. I feel the same way- I'm now officially less than 3 months to go and I've run out of steam. Programs? No. Vellum lanterns? Meh. I'm tired of it and I figure it's going to be great when we show up and all these extra things are just extra weight in the luggage and extra things that no one will appreciate and will end up in a garbage can somewhere. So we'll see. I have a couple things I'd like to pursue but I'm definitely crossing a lot of projects of my list.
  2. my guests are paying $968 pp taxes included for a 4 1/2 star resort in Cuba for 7 days. I wanted to keep the price under $1000 so I was happy that we got a great group rate deal!
  3. I'm afraid I agree with everyone else- I would be really upset if I had to pay for my meal on top of the price I would pay to go to your wedding. For that price, I woudl definitely expect everything to be free! For almost 5 grand a couple everything better be free!! I hope everything works out for you! Also, I would try to work something out with your resort, for that price and that the meal is not included? I bet if you asked they would cut you a deal. You never know unless you try.
  4. I have a soft spot in my heart, and unfortunately my liver, for Rum Punch. However, our last vacation I tried a Santa Maria ( red wine that floats on orange juice) and it was pretty good!
  5. This is a toughie. I feel that if you agreed that she could be a junior bridesmaid, then that is a fair compromise. And a junior bridesmaid can wear a dress if that's what this girl is all about. So at the end of the day, you have met this family half way and you have done your part. Anything that comes of this in the future is their immaturity. She was part of the wedding and that should be enough. Good luck and hope everything goes smoothly.
  6. Congratulations!!! I can't remember how I stumbled onto this site, but I'm glad I did! I never would've come up with the ideas I've found on this site- prepare to spend countless hours searching and looking at all the ideas!
  7. I am 9 months and one day older than him. We were set up on a blind date and I was told he was 1 year older than me and he was told that I was 3 years younger than him! It was a funny conversation after a few weeks and I had to say... "sooo... what year were you born?" I would never have agreed to go out with a younger guy, but hey, it all worked out!l ol
  8. Me and my fiance are paying for everything ourselves. His Dad is not even coming - even though we offered to pay for his entire trip! Long story, but jeez, it`s your SON! Anyways, for what we are paying for our wedding without help from either of our families is still cheaper than if we had a wedding here since a lot more people would come and the price would surely skyrocket. There are a lot of people coming who we thought would never come so we`re happy about that. Neither of our parents are in any situatation in which they could help us out.
  9. Hi I am also 33 and am hypothyroid but I take the daily thyroid supplements - have you heard that it is still difficult even with taking the supplements - I hope not! I am on levothyroxine
  10. Hi , I see that your wedding has passed ( hope it was amazing!) but if any future brides are wondering about this, I traveled to Sol Rio de Luna y Mares in January 2011 and I eat no red meat ( only chicken and fish) but I found there to be much selection even if you were a complete vegetarian. I`m not fussy about food but there was a wide selection of vegetables, fruits, pastas and other meals that a vegetarian could eat and be satisfied. I `ve been to Varadero in the past and had a hard time finding food, but in Holguin it was never a problem. Hope this helps someone!
  11. this is a great story !!! I love it!
  12. After watching the episode of Seinfeld where George decides to go ``opposite George`and do the exact opposite of every instinct he has, I agreed to go on a blind date arranged by my father and stepmother . Something I definitely NEVER would have done- I`m a shy person and even my dad was so shocked that I agreed to it! We hit it off that night and have pretty much spent every day together since, and almost 7 years later we are getting married in Holguin Cuba! Whenever I see the rerun of that epsiode, I say to my fiance that we never would be here if that hadn`t aired on that day!!!!lol
  13. Glad everything worked out, but really part of me feels a little sorry for this girl because she obviously is delusional about the relationship between her and your fiance. This is probably devastating for her but at the same time I think it's time your fiance cuts her out of your lives completely since she is not in this for a friendship. Who hasn't at one point liked someone who didn't like them back? It's tough but this girl really needs a reality check. I hope she moves on and that you and your fiance have all the best! Good luck!
  14. thanks for posting this - I've never heard of this site before, yet another site to get addicted to!!!
  15. I have a couple of questions about the music at the dinner - does the band play during the dinner as part of the package or just at the ceremony? If we want to have our own music played during dinner on the beach, is there power out there for a radio or ipod speakers?
  16. sorry , just read you're in Petawawa, your resort is probably amazing! I'd love to go to Jamaica for our honeymoon but we haven't decided yet.
  17. I'm in Niagara on the Lake, where are you? Jamaica!!! Sounds great! Will you be there for Christmas?
  18. Getting married December 2, 2011 at Playa Pesquero in Holguin, Cuba!!

  20. My biggest stress factor is that my parents haven't seen or spoken to each other since their divorce 14 years ago. It's going to be awkward and uncomfortable. I've lost a lot of sleep about it.
  21. The 50 mugs came to $153.66 Canadian with the taxes and shipping. My fiance paid the UPS guy the customs fee and told me it was $60 which means it was probably more around $50.
  22. Hi there! After months of frustration about the travel mugs, I finally ordered them from Factory 21 on ebay. I am so glad I did - Amanda is so great, she was so quick to reply to my emails and she printed the design on both sides for free! I even got the mugs quicker than she quoted! There was a customs charge of $60 when UPS delivered them. I ordered 50 mugs with the lids - we are having 35 travel with us to the wedding so I figure we will hand out the remaining mugs at our AHR to people that couldn't come. I strongly recommend Factory 21- I'm so happy with the mugs and I hope our guests will love them too! Here's a pic:
  23. I wan't going to do programs, but I was at an outdoor wedding yesterday and noticed everyone using the programs as fans. I think I'll do the program fans, because at least they might be used during the ceremony and if people want to keep them as souvenirs, they can.
