  1. You could put the snacks in a separate bag, like the clear treat bags some girls have used, and hand them out at the airport for people to eat on the plane? That way also you wouldn't have to pack them in your luggage at all.
  2. I want to do one, but my mom said no way - and she bought my dress, so I guess I have to respect her wishes. boo!
  3. I think the answer to your problem is in your post - you said she "used to be your best friend"! Obviously, she is not so involved in your life now and with her inappropriate comments it seems like perhaps things are better this way. Once you start planning a wedding it becomes difficult to determine who is part of your life now and who is not , but perhaps you are not so close to this girl anymore for a reason. A wedding in my opinion is a celebration to be shared with people who are currently involved in those people's lives. It's easy to get carried away with the guest list and difficult to know when to "cut off" the invites. If this girl is already expressing distaste in having to spend money on a dress, how will she feel about spending money on a week long vacation?? I wish you well and unfortuanetly weddings seem to bring out a lot of immaturity in people, focus on the people that are excited to go and everything will be great!
  4. What a great idea!! I'm going to do these and hand them out at the airport for something to do on the plane or on the beach! Thanks for sharing, I never would have thought of this!
  5. Sorry to read about your best man troubles, we have gone through the same things with my fiances father saying he can;t afford to go.We then offered to pay for his whole trip and still he refused. I think maybe some people just say they can't afford it when really they have another reason for not wanting to go. It sucks when certain people you really want there won't be there, but I think these things happen whether you are getting married locally or away. Hope you find someone to fill his place - someone that appreciates it and actually is happy to be there.
  6. I think we will just do the welcome cocktails idea in the lobby bar the night we arrive and hand out the OOT bags there. There are 3 birthdays during our week , so I don't want to interfere with anyone's dinner plans or take up a night that someone wants to do an a la carte.
  7. Thanks! I used a template from this site and clipart that I found online. I originally was going to print them at home but I had them printed at Office Depot since their printers are way better and I think it was only about 70 cents a page.
  8. The cardstock was from Staples but the paper I used to make the envelopes was from Michaels. The colour is called "Artesian Pool".
  9. Here are my DIY boarding pass invites- spent an unholy amount of hours on these, mostly trying to figure out Word, but I'm happy with the way they turned out and everyone liked them! I used the boarding pass template from this site and added my own clipart I found online. I ordered the RSVP postcards from Vistaprint & the fish brads are from Michaels.
  10. December 2nd at Playa Pesquero, Cuba! Can't wait!
  11. Harry Potter definitely if you haven't read them already- I find that Dean Koontz or John Grisham books are nice easy reads. Whatever you do, don't read Marley and Me- I found myself crying behind my sunglasses in Varadero at the pool - way too sad!!! lol.

  13. Hi Sirenita, Here is what Yaly sent me about the wedding venues, hope it helps: " A quiet beachfront spot with a stunning view of the ocean decorated with a white arch & flowers is a trendy choice for a Caribbean wedding. For a more conventional and intimate ceremony, couples choose the gazebo, overlooking the pool gardens and decorated with white drapes and flowers. Playa Pesquero tropical gardens are another excellent choice given its vibrant and exuberant greenery." So it looks like there are three spots - if you don't want onlookers, maybe the garden site would be better. I'm sure if you wanted to get married at another location they'd probably accomodate you.
  14. Hi everyone! Since I've gotten so many great ideas from the forums, thought I would share mine. This is how I asked my MOH's and they loved them! I painted the treasure chest boxes that I got from Michael's and decorated them with stick on jewels. Inside I glued wooden cutouts on glass bottles and included a flip flop luggage tag and bottle of rum in each. I filled the chests with seashells and printed the poem I got from this site and soaked them in tea and burned the edges.
  15. Hi everyone! We've booked Playa Pesquero leaving Nov 29 - still waiting on Yaly to find out about the date of the ceremony. I was looking at the wedding packages and keep reading about the Tobacco Legend and Cuban Rum Legend Packages at $1200 each, but I've never heard any mention of these on the forums - does anyone know about these and what's included? Thanks!
  16. Hi everyone! I just booked at Playa Pesquero today and am super excited!! We are leaving on November 29th but don't know the wedding date yet!
  17. babycakes - I was told that I'm a month early to get quotes from the RIUs because they haven't signed the contracts yet? Maybe this is the travel company my TA was referring to and not the actual resorts. I need to book by November since we book our time off at work at that time, so hopefully I can still get a good deal. Still waiting on some quotes- arrrghh! lol
  18. Nov 2011 - the RIUs are only booking until October and I'm waiting on quotes from Iberostar Bavaro and Ocean Sand- trying to be patient but it's so hard!!
  19. Congrats and have fun planning!
