  1. Kris, here's a few pictures. There is some wind, but certainly not as much as the terraces that are right on the ocean. And the Grand Terrace is super windy too. We had a couple that went there for their concierge romantic dinner and then got moved inside because it was too windy. Terrace set up behind us. Larger Group Setup Empty Terrace
  2. If you push your Miami contact and tell them that you want to book private events, you can get into contact before the 3 months prior date that they tell you. Since you are going for a site visit, you will probably be assigned someone then. And nothing is final until the last minute, we chose flowers 2 days before and we added the speaker system the day before. We had our locations booked about 6 months before our wedding.
  3. Tisha, sorry to hear that you don't have the portraits you were hoping for. Is there any chance that you have some better pictures from your guests? Maybe now you could arrange to have some portraits taken at home with you and your hubby in wedding outfits?
  4. I ordered my first dress because I liked it, and was worried that if I waited any longer I wouldn't be able to get any dress. While I was waiting I kept looking, and trying on dress, didn't like anything. When it arrived, it was nice but I didn't feel like a bride and certainly didn't love it. Then MIL ordered her dress with a similar skirt, so I knew for sure that I wanted to find something else. I still kept looking and hoping I would find something I liked, after 100 dresses I never found anything I loved. And I was willing to spend anything at this point. I ordered a custom dress that had all the qualities I was looking for. I was terrified it would show up and I wouldn't like it. I didn't show up until the week before we were leaving, so I was lucky that the only alteration I wanted was a sweetheart neckline. I didn't love it, but it looked nice and I had obviously run out of time. I'm secretly hoping that in 10 or 15 years we will do a vow renewal and I can have the time to find a dress that I do love.
  5. kris - We held our reception until 10:30 and it was dark outside but our terrace was lit pretty well. We were on the Bugambilias Terrace which is set back from the ocean so the wind isn't as strong. There was just the regular lighting and I thought it was bright enough, especially for dancing. We ate dinner just after sunset, and we could see the food fine. That would be my only concern, eating in the dark. I was also told that they don't let you hang things since something fell and hit one of the WC's. But you can order lighting from Deco Cancun if you don't mind paying.
  6. Coconoir - We found the best prices for April flights were late October, early November. They started to go up around Christmas because people start booking their spring vacations. And yes, usually Tuesday and Wednesday are the best days to check prices. That's when the airlines release specials or sales. Don't forget to try to find charter flights.
  7. Thanks for bringing this thread back to life Teira. We are officially TTC and hopefully won't be for long. It's kind of upsetting to see so many people having difficulties. I know it can take some time but I really hope that we are all successful soon. Simistar, fingers crossed that it worked. Cali, I hope that you are eventually able to realize your dream. Lindsay, I hope you don't have to wait that long. To the ladies that are just starting, since we're all newlyweds, maybe that will be good luck?
  8. Meggers - they look so beautiful. It's great that you did such a variety of locations. I think my favorites are the last two, love the crashing of the waves.
  9. Lindsey, It is frustrating, but once you experience the onsite treatment you will forget ever complaining. The big things with MP are the group benefits which can result in you having a free unlimited private events and 7 nights refunded, the ride from the airport is less than 10 minutes so you and your guests will have more time to enjoy the resort, you can visit Cancun on the free shuttle and use the facilities of the other Palace Resorts for free, there is plenty of different restaurants so you never get bored of the food, the staff will go out of their way to make you happy, you'll never be bored at MP, but you can always find a quiet spot too, the palace dollars help to make your vacation even more fun, and no one has ever complained about their MP wedding day.
  10. Gorgeous ring. I really like the curved band, and the suggestion of getting two. I had to have a custom made band and although it is amazing and I can't wait to get the other side, it totally sucked to give up my ring for two months while it was sent back to the designer.
  11. I just wanted to check in, say hi, and tell you all that I miss our daily chats.
  12. Lindsey, Sadly, the Miami office has horrible response time. You will get better answers from this site. You can also try posting questions on the palace resorts facebook site. They don't like negative comments and will try to help you. It sucks that Miami is so neglectful when Cancun does a fabulous job of giving you a dream wedding.
  13. If you don't choose the comp package, and want to make any changes, you pay extra! You can pretty much ask for whatever you want and they will try to make it happen. Assuming you don't have an unlimited budget, you can also bring stuff with you and have them set it up for $55. For example, they charge $4 for a chair sash rental. You can purchase them for about 50 cents each. It's best to make a list of what you would like and then price out purchasing from home or renting in Cancun.
  14. Char - All your pictures are fabulous! I love the scenery everywhere. You definitely made the right decision with choosing your photographers.
  15. Since I got married last night, I will provided my input. We had full day coverage from getting ready through the reception. There is no way we would have been able to get enough decent pictures in 3 hours. So I will compare what you tentatively scheduled versus what happened at our wedding. 12:30 pm Photographers arrived at salon for bride pictures 1:30 pm Photographers arrived at groom's room. They had to fake a lot of pictures because his pants did not get delivered from the laundry service until 2:30 and they were already gone. 2:15 pm Photographers arrived at bride's room. 3:00 pm Wedding Ceremony (This is when your 3 -hour schedule would start) 3:30 pm Group and Family Photos 4:00 pm Cocktail Hour (We just snacked quickly to start pictures) 4:30 pm Bridal Party Pictures (You may require more time for Cocktail Hour if you are doing first dances) 6:45 pm Our Mad Dash across the resort because we realized we were late for our reception even though we still wanted more pictures. Through dinner and the rest of the night, we had more pictures, including first dances, speeches and cake cutting. So I really think that 3 hours is pushing it. You might want to consider an hour before for first-look pictures of you and groom. But maybe that's just because we got along with our photographers so well, our engagement shoot was supposed to be 45 mins, lasted 2 hours, my BD shoot was supposed to 1 hour, lasted almost 4, and our TTD was scheduled for an hour but turned into 2.5 hours. Remember your pictures are going to be treasured forever, and you can't go back later to take more.
  16. You can wear anything you like, and I think it would be an honor for your FI to be supportive.
  17. I purchased my sashes from http://www.linentablecloth.com/for-your-chairs/sashes.html I waited until they had a 50% off sale for black Friday, but I think they often have sales like that. I purchased fuchsia and pumpkin which matched my colors perfectly. The pumpkin was almost exact to David's bridal Tangerine.
  18. Send an email to Mauricio from PSAV. He responds super quickly and is really friendly. I posted their price list on the Wiki. I think we paid $230 for the speaker and mic. It was definitely loud enough for our group of 30, you could hear the music in the next section over. We didn't confirm wanting the speaker system until the day before our wedding and they managed to find someone even though it was a holiday.
  19. We had the speaker system provided by PSAV. I think they are a little cheaper than JSAV because it is based on the number of people, not the number of hours. We used a laptop and didn't make a playlist. I just provided a list of first dance songs and the cake cutting song. The rest of the music, the technician just picked out of our music library. MP provides basic white linens, I purchased chair sashes online for about 50 cents each and purchased table runners from another BDW bride. I brought everything done and was only charged $55 for setting up for the whole day.
  20. Elese - that's awesome! How did you end up with those offers?
  21. Thought I would inform some of us Canadian girls that Canada Post employees plan on starting strike action this Thursday night. This means that mail and parcels will not be processed or delivered. Hopefully, they will reach a resolution before then. I know I am kicking myself for not getting our AHR invites in the mail last week like I planned. If anyone has possible solutions, let's hear them. I think I will send a bunch with hubby to hand deliver.
  22. beachbum - Of course, we look forward to meeting you,
  23. So jealous of all you ladies being able to order your photo books. We haven't received our disc of images yet because our photogs are working on our album. On a positive note, I finally took my last bc pill so now it's officially no more preventing! Fingers crossed that we won't have to wait too long. We went out for our last sushi dinner and it's almost sad to think I won't be allowed any for at least a year
  24. I set up a poll with all the dates from June 13th to June 25th. You can choose all your available dates. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/73650/gta-get-together-for-june-poll-for-best-date#post_1609915
