  1. Trista - I absolutely love the one on the horse! SO romantic.
  2. I'm currently trying to get ours done this week. Any comments? Words were spoken, Amidst a soothing tide, As paradise proclaimed, Two souls forever side by side. Bride & Groom Were Married on Date please join our celebration luncheon. Do you think it's okay to use my maiden name since I haven't changed anything yet?
  3. Terpgurl - Shoes are $15, clubs are $40. On the morning of our wedding, hubby went golfing and wasn't having the greatest game. Unfortunately, one club ended up in a pond and it cost him $75 because he wasn't able to retrieve it. It's definitely worth it for your guests to bring shoes if they have the room or weight available. kris10kay - I think they are referring to the room night credits for free private events. I would have your TA verify that which rooms will be counted towards your group benefits.
  4. Erin, those are some really nice pictures. Can't wait until you share more. Tisha, welcome back. I love your bouquet. Tris, get some rest and then let us know about your wedding week! I had a horrible dream last night that our photographers called and said the pictures would take a lot longer to edit because their computer crashed.
  5. I ordered from them in December. Everything I ordered showed up quickly and was packaged well. I ordered 4 parasols and the handle color on one was different from the others. I sent them a message and they credited my paypal account for the cost of 1 parasol + shipping. I would probably order from them again.
  6. We had our legal wedding in Cancun two weeks ago. We paid the resort $300, this included our blood tests and the justice of the peace. We had to bring certified copies of our birth certificates, which we got from the provincial government where we were born, and our passports and tourist cards, which are given to you when you pass immigration. We supplied 4 witnesses who also had to bring passports and tourist cards. The resort photocopied everything and gave it right back. I don't know if they had to translate anything, but we were not charged anything extra. We were supposed to have everything done 3 business days in advance. We did provide all the names, addresses and nationalities in advance. We haven't received our marriage certificate yet, but I have heard various opinions on getting them translated before being able to change names. I will just keep using the Spanish version to change my name until someone disallows it.
  7. At our meeting, I told her I would provide the centerpieces, but a couple of days later I went back and asked if they could just put vases in the center for our bouquets. I was surprised to find the beads, and it was a nice touch.
  8. And finally, The Dress My only regret from the whole wedding wedding planning process is that I never found a dress that I loved. I only liked a few and did not feel like a bride in any of the over 100 dresses that I tried on. Once I designed and ordered my final dress, I was feeling good. Of course there was delays in making the dress and it only arrived a week before we were to leave. Thank goodness the only alterations I needed was to have the neckline adjusted to a deeper sweetheart. Hubby was actually pleasantly surprised that no one else ever saw this dress before the wedding day. He was kind of upset when I tried on my first dress for some of our male friends.
  9. Thanks Ladies for all the compliments. Now that I am back, and married to an amazing husband, I can post a few more of the last minute details. Caramilk Favors We decided to make Caramilk bars for favors and I redesigned their labels just for us. We picked Caramilk's because they are distinctly Canadian. Here is the label: And here is hubby assembling them. I also hand painted a fuchsia parasol for our photos: Printed out "Just Married" on a wide format printer, cut out the letters and used adhesive spray to attach them to the parasol. I tried pinning but that made little holes, and tape wouldn't stick Carefully traced the letters in pencil and removed the stencil. I stuck the parasol between couch cushions to hold it up straight. Did a quick outline with black paint and the filled in letters with black acrylic paint (I mixed in a little pearl so it wouldn't be as matte) Let it dry for overnight and did another coat to make sure the letters really stood out. Revised Bridesmaid Bouquets I decided to take them apart and added rhinestone stephanotis just for some extra bling. My Second Veil Since I wasn't going to be wearing my first dress, I needed a veil that matched my new dress. Initially, I planned on making a long veil with a lace trim, but due to time constraints, I eliminated the lace and also decided that a really long veil would be too formal for me. But here is how I quickly made my DIY veil. Laid out fabric and folded it into thirds to approximately the length I wanted. Cut the bottom edge into a rounded shape, I did this freehand so it's not perfect, but gets the job done. Hand stitched across the top, get as close to the edge as possible and make sure to grab all the layers, and gathered the thread. Hand sewed it onto the veil comb. When I tried it on for hubby we decided it was a little too pouffy, so I cut one layer out. I wasn't about to take it all apart, so I took out the bottom layer.
  10. Welcome Back Erin! Beautiful Kiss! Shelley, I absolutely love how elegant your dress is. Your AHR looked fabulous. The cake is so simple and beautiful. Even the colors look great in that space. As for switching resorts, we considered it and figured if we did switch we would probably lose a day moving. We actually ended up upgrading our room two nights before our wedding. We hadn't unpacked much because we knew we wanted to move, but it was still a bit of a pain. I had to argue a little with the front desk because we were leaving for a tour and they didn't want to pick up our bags without someone there. But they did move everything while we were away and we did like the room upgrade. So my suggestion would be to avoid moving. Like Meggers said, it is a completely different atmosphere after the majority of the party leaves.
  11. Wow! It's almost like we all help off on posting until most of us were back home. Yes, if Square One doesn't work out we will have to plan something else. Meggers - great pictures. I'm so glad all the bikinis turned out! I'm hoping some people that have already given us generous gifts don't think our AHR is a money grab. I just really want to have a nice luncheon for the families to meet.
  12. I didn't ask for table numbers. I just separated each group of place cards by the table and gave them a list of where to place them. A few people wandered around looking for their names, but with 30 people it wasn't too bad.
  13. Please can I go back (or even just plan another wedding!) It was so much fun and by the end we were ready to come home, but I would love to do it again. We're invited to a DW in November and another one next March, it will be really hard not to attend. Lisa, I think they are still picking a date and time, but it is narrowed down to Square One area.
  14. Thanks ladies. I guess I'm just anxious to see how the "real" photos turn out, because I know they will be amazing. Meggers, that is fabulous news about all your AHR events. For the GTA ladies, there is a get together being planned at Square One. I hope a couple of you are able to attend so we can finally meet.
  15. So even those these pictures aren't the greatest, I feel so bad not sharing something with you ladies. Hopefully, I won't have to wait too much longer for at least one decent picture.
  16. Terpgurl - actually, I never ended up ordering anything from Marvin. I used real touch bouquets so my girls could bring them home after wards. I just asked our WC to put a vase in the center of each table. Each one provided by MP had gel beads in our wedding colors and when we got the we just put the bouquets in. It didn't cost us anything extra. I just really didn't feel like spending more money, especially since the wind could knock stuff over.
  17. Lisa, it is an amazing video. You are so lucky to have that.
  18. Welcome Back Erin! It will be great to see some photos!
  19. My dress survived the washer last night, unfortunately so did the stains. I'm going to try using stain remover on it and back into the washer.
  20. Terpgurl - If nothing else, I think the centerpieces are the easiest to get away with. We had planned on either making or buying centerpieces when we got there. At our meeting on the first day, I asked our WC if they would pick up the centerpieces from our room on the wedding day. No problems and no questions about what they were or where they were coming from. In the end, I scrapped the idea because we had no time, so I just asked her to put vases on the table and we put our bouquets in them at dinner.
  21. Make sure you remember the tip money. We completely forgot about it most nights and especially our wedding day. When we arrived to our reception I had to rush to get money from my parents to tip the golf cart driver that rushed us across the resort when we realized how late it was. And at the end of the night, we had to ask all our friends for money to tip the servers. Thankfully, we were able to drop off an envelope for the WC the next day so she got a generous tip for her services.
  22. I got married in the same dress! I thought it was perfect for a destination wedding, not too heavy and a little bit of fun with the skirt! Mine had a shorter train because I didn't want to drag around that much dress. And we couldn't figure out how to bustle the back. Congratulations!
  23. Paper lanterns are also a great option for adding color, especially if you can hang stuff from the ceilings. Otherwise, bright table cloths/runners and chair sashes.
  24. Lisa, you and your groom look so amazing and happy! I can't wait to watch your video tonight with sound. It looks great! A day full of smiles and happiness.
